Dark Dark 2nd attempt

After levelling a Dark Dark Stalker and listening to the good advice here I have revised the build.  I find The Cloaks do HEAVY lifting for my survival.  I knew they were important on my Tank but they really slow the pace of incoming attacks and allow me to murder the people coming in one at a time.

I made a Dark/Dark stalker long ago as a fear/fear experiment.

 

HOs are your friend when it comes to the Cloaks.  I almost never 6-slot purples if all I get is toxic resist.  Split Assassin's Mark 3-3 and put the proc in an AoE.  Put Gaussian's proc in Build up and you won't need a recharge if you have Assassin's Mark proc in an AoE.  I'd put a lot more slots in your defenses than in your offenses.  I actually skipped Shadow Maul, but that may have been mostly in protest about changing the arc from 30 degrees to 120 degrees.  I generally get KB protection from 3-slotting Fury of the Gladiator and/or Gladiator's Armor and use the 20% slow protection proc.

On a resist armor I do not like any Resist below 50.  This takes my toxic to 53%.  My defenses are heavily reliant on Resist, Fear, Stun and ToHit debuffs.  I do not know how well that will fare in 2star+ content but I am relatively happy so far.  I need to run some 50+4 content at this point to see about that.  My thoughts are it will be fine if I play smart.  I doubt it will handle anything tougher than that easily. Shadow Maul at this point is an old friend, having run it on Brutes and Tanks.  I find 3 pts KB prot a bit light, and would need to do advanced rebuild to squeeze on two PvP partial sets for -3KBx2

 

Assassin Mark in an AoE.  Hmmm.  Would that work in Touch of Fear???  (to fire the proc?)

The proc is global, any attack will trigger it once its slotted. And agreed,  AoEs are great for fishing for a Build Up refresh... makes me want to get back to my Spine/Stone/Dark...

I was looking for a fun, relatively strong solo stalker. I had a lvl 12 elec/energy, which I went back to for a few levels and didn't really grab me - long power inception times, mediocre single dmg, etc. Long ago I had a rad/rad stalker 'Roentgen' (pretty proud of that!), which I parked at 15, must play her a bit more.

 

So I've also tried dark/dark dom (very nice), D/D defender (so so), D/D Sentinel (ok, needs more time) and more recently a D/D stalker, which I also need a bit more time with.

BUT, I've now rolled a D/D Troller 'Styxia' (don't ask me why! I think I have an unhealthy affinity with the dark...), and am going to give her a fair shake :classic_biggrin::
