So I've been looking around and doing some reading. Hearing that necro/dark is still a thing and I'm almost eager to get back to it. Anyone have any build tips and suggestions for end game content to be viable? Resist heavy builds? High def low resist? I'm not sure what the caps are on the pets and what would be best. I have been doing some reading and know to franken slot the zombies and grave knights after 4 IO's for a set bonus. I think one has to have the ATO and the other can be just a pet based system. (meaning 2 slots are on hit chance stuff/ while the other 4 slots are for set bonuses)?

 

 

Any assistance in this would be awesome! Even just a point in the right direction. I've just not found any builds for necro/dark that are current.

I had an Incarnate Necro/Dark on live, and I'm leveling another again this time around. It's a great combo, keeps you active and involved. One you put all your pet unique +Def/resist IOs slotted in soul extraction your pets become much tougher. And between your controls and debuffs, and those from Lich and Dark Fluffy, things become very safe. I'll try to post my build later today.

Here you go. A basic template for slotting, powers and critical Pet IOs. The open slots you can do as you wish, either with basic IOs, sets, or frankenslotting. I put Hami-Os in Dark Servant, myself.

 

This build assumes no Tankerminding, which I generally don't do, unless I were to AV hunt, in which case make a separate build for that. Then you'd need Provoke and possibly Fighting Pool to make yourself tougher.

Looking good... And expensive lol.  Quick thoughts...

 

I'd definitely put all the pet aura IOs in soul extraction and slot it with nothing else. It's there to be a slot mule, not a real pet.

 

I like the procs in Grace Knight but they need more accuracy, they are your primary damage dealers

Saarthalian - Here's a different viewpoint. This is  close cousin to my Live build before shutdown. I found that building for any sort of defensive softcap was less effective than focusing on recharge, -hit, and . However, I had a S/L/E softcap build with Scorpion Shield as an alternative (and team teleport for rapid pet positioning).

 

This build has perma-hasten, -hit buffing focus for Fearsome Stare and Dark Servant (and Cloud Senses proc as all of its abilities incorporate -hit), near capped hit and damage for all three pets, stealth in sprint to combine with Shadow Fall, all Def/Res pet procs, and a not unlivable amount of recovery with all toggles running. Flight speed boosts are a personal preference with an aim of getting it manageable for regular mobility on vertical cave maps. I'd prefer to have Howling Twilight up more often for the -Regen, but that's a real pain.

 

For incarnates, interface is to taste. It has Clarion for the mm's mez protection, but it's worth building Barrier for greater pet survivability.

Thanks for your help! This looks like it might be hilariously fun. Plus with the tohit debuffs on top of the high def just seems like this'll be untouchable.

Looking good... And expensive lol.  Quick thoughts...

 

I'd definitely put all the pet aura IOs in soul extraction and slot it with nothing else. It's there to be a slot mule, not a real pet.

 

I like the procs in Grace Knight but they need more accuracy, they are your primary damage dealers

Slot your Lich for control & debuffs... move that aura to Soul Extraction.

Found this on the old forums. I'm not sure if you read where I said I *found* and fiddled with this. I never claimed to create it.

 

But just in case you're too slow to understand what that means, since you apparently are for choosing not to read: I in no way took credit for creating this.

And the fact people on here are helpful is entirely why I got on to ask people for assistance.

It's also why I shared what I found or what I will be using regardless as to not be self-centered about these trifling things.

I really enjoyed looking over this build. I have actually already fully built mine based on the one I posted above with a few personal changes of course.

And I decided to attempt a multibox actually and found them to be nearly godly.

 

Incarnates with barrier/protections of status will definitely be options taken. I greatly appreciate that you posted this build as it helps me understand the class a bit better as well. Thanks so much for being helpful and awesome :D

I just noticed something about the MM ATOs  You could 2 slot each of them into 3 powers and get 30% recharge and 12% global damage.

 

It might be worth trying to figure a way to do that in a build.

Here you go. "Best" is always subjective, but this build has worked very well for me in the past. I don't try to cap resistance, though I do attempt to boost it. With all the controls and debuffs, things 'whiff' a lot or else are locked down.

 

I like procs on things, and I build for control on Necro/Dark because it plays to its strengths, but the power sets are neat, because there are always odd ways to get more damage in via procs. Grave Knights are slotted for damage, and Lich for lots of control.

He does split Superior Mark of Supremacy to get the 30% recharge buff, all 6 unique pet IOs and a ton of procs to boot. Definitely expensive but if you can get there...

 

Didn't even know this post existed. Thanks. Found the one I modified off of Ship of Heroes (Archived forums?) And modified at the suggestion of Gmredux's early advice.

 

Build was around 600mil - If I chose to craft, it would have been half that.

 

I've avoided resistances for defense and of course -to hit (which is essentially more def)

 

Haven't had issues yet and I'm rolling around at +4x8

As someone who plays primarily solo with the MM, is Howling Twilight worth taking still?  Given the pets can't be rezzed by it, does it have any benefit to using outside of the rez ability, or would there be a different power "more recommended" for use?

Howling Twilight is AMAZING. An auto mag 3 stun and massive -Regen on top. Howling Twilight is a use early and often power. Rezzing party members should be seen as a byproduct rather than a primary feature.

I quite like StrikerFox's pet slotting that he provided in this thread: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,1603.0.html

 

He does split Superior Mark of Supremacy to get the 30% recharge buff, all 6 unique pet IOs and a ton of procs to boot. Definitely expensive but if you can get there...

I see. The build you found happens to have the exact same slotting in Maneuvers and Shadow Fall. Including the level 30 LotG +7.5% recharge IO's, exactly like my build posted in the above link. That's the weirdest coincidence.

 

Should give credit to the creator. I'm sure the dude on the SoH forum worked hard on it.
