Any Ice/Fire builds out there?

Have been looking for a build to spend some influence on and Ice/Fire seems to have great potential, but I'm kind of lost on how to build and slot it. Does anyone with experience with this build share some tips or a build template?

I have a few ice/fire builds. Are you looking for a farmer or general pve character?

 

Would prefer a farmer to start out with, though probably want to transition to a general PVE character later.

 

Have about 1 billion influence to spend so I don't mind expensive IO builds

Newb question here. How much more effective is a Ice/Fire in farming than a Spines/Fire brute? I'd imagine more clicking but fun, right?

 

In my experience Ice/Fire Blaster has a quicker clear speed then Spines/Fire however lacks the same survivability. Both are equally as good as each other and both are fun builds to run but feel that Ice/Fire takes a bit more micro-management to get working and takes a little bit more work in order to get it up and running in comparison to Spines/Fire.

As the above poster said Spines/Fire is probably the easiest build to get going. But at this point I'm so sick of playing it I'd be very happy with something that performs similarly well but isn't Spines/Fire.

Got to 47 on the build and slotted full IOs. Performs great, seems to do more damage than my Spines/Fire already. Only issue I have is the lack of taunt aura makes enemies run from me making it more difficult to farm. Bonfire / Blizzard help with that but the cooldowns seem too long to use consistently. Is there anything else I can do to prevent enemies from running?

Hey there, Banana Man!

 

Was checking out your builds, thank you for posting them! Out of curiosity, why do you put off Ice Storm til 28 and get all the defensive abilities so early? I feel like, for the sake of exemplaring lower, you'd probably benefit a lot more from having your AoE no?

 

Regardless, I just rolled an Ice/Fire and I'm very excited about it.

@mrchajper: basically, you make your own taunt aura. Always stay damage capped. Go to the first group, use burn, then fire sword circle. This should kill most if not all of the minions and lts. It's best if you actually jump your fire sword circle into the next group, so right as you land, you can que up combustion and then burn again to kill the lts and minions in that group - basically, you go group to group just killing the minions and lts as fast as you can (2 aoes should do it) and then once you do about 3-4 groups, you'll have a ton of bosses running after you. Pull the bosses into more groups, throw down bonfire, ice storm, blizzard, and then aoe everything down. Rinse and repeat. The undamageable lore pets can be really useful for pulling more mobs to you, as can NPC allies in the mission with powers like illusion or plant control. Rule of thumb is, if you're not way over the aggro cap, you need to be moving until you are.

 

@purplereign: If you're talking about the PvE build, I made it with level 50 gameplay in mind. You can change up the order of the powers to your liking - it's possible I didn't even take them in that order and only did it in pines for slot reasons. If you're talking about that farm build, it probably only works with incarnates, because it will be super end heavy without ageless.

Thanks. I've started to get the hang of it and it actually seems to be smoother than Spines/Fire, just needed to get used to the playstyle. One question though: do you think dropping Bonfire and Burnout in favor of Aim/Build Up could be worth it? I feel like cooldowns are quite low already with Ageless and personally really dislike the long cast time of Bonfire.

Hey Banana Man,

 

I've leveled my Ice/Fire blaster to 50 and completely IO'd him out with the build you shared above. Just a couple of concerns. I've found I have End issues, do you combat that with a certain incarnate? What about when you're exemplered? And also, what about KB and stun resistance? I fought malta and got bopped all over and my end drained real quick.
