Howdy all.  I'm pretty new and thinking of rolling a Katana/electric AT.  I like the idea of Raiden with a sword essentially.  Am I hurting myself longterm with this combo? Is there a better AT to do this on? I picked scrapper because crits make the happy chemical, but knowing I could have been better off with something else makes the sad chemical.

Those will work well. Divine valance will help add defense to the resist based electric.

Awesome. Accidentally synergy still works for me :).  Is Scrapper a good base for this?

Yes. Or tank would be good too as resist cap is higher. Scraps get the lighting snipe though so I would stick with scrap

Awesome thank you!

Arguably, you get more mileage out of Lightning Field on a Brute than either a Scrapper or Tanker due to Fury while retaining the higher resistance cap of a Scrapper.

But Lightning Field is hardly going to be your major source of damage.

I see. So a Brute is using lightning as one of their standard attacks while Scrapper is leaning heavily on Katana and the lightning is more of a nice to have instead?

Lightning Field is a damage effect surrounding your character so long as you leave it turned on. It periodically deals damage to things standing too close to you. But its damage from a secondary set, and your primary set is how any melee character--Scrapper, Stalker, Brute, or Tanker--is going to deal most of their damage.

Anything electric armor I tend to prefer in a brute.

  • Higher resist cap. Ela will be way over capped on several values, wasting some of its power budget.
  • Taunt aura. Only certain armors retain their taunt aura in scrappers, and Ela is not one. Without it, runners are very annoying solo.
  • Damage auras scale nicely with fury.

Katana is off course outstanding on a scrapper, but great on a brute as well.

Tanker is a worthy contender too of course.

Good information, thank you!

If you're not sold on an AT yet, maybe consider an Elec/Ninja blaster. They still get a katana and crits, but there's a lot more lightning flying around.

I didn't know blaster had crits.  That's an interesting idea!
