Ultimo Posted February 19 Posted February 19 So, I wanted to create an arc where an old couple who owned a store are being shaken down by the mob for protection money. The players would intervene and the story would unfold. But, I'm having an issue with the first mission. What I want is this: The police ask the heroes to go talk to the store owners. You enter the mission, talk to the owners, and this triggers the mobsters to arrive. The heroes beat up this initial attack (it's an easy mission), and the mission ends. The problem is that I can't figure out a way to put the owners in the store. I thought about making them objects as part of a collection, but that doesn't seem to work. I thought about making them rescues or allies, but the store maps don't seem to have the option for such objectives. Any suggestions how I might make this mission work?
ZamuelNow Posted February 19 Posted February 19 I'm rusty but what maps have you tried to use? You might need to fake a store instead of using a real one. lemming Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Rude of the AE not to allow hostages on maps where we've seen them in the regular place. Looking thru the various options, I didn't see a store, but maybe adding text that the owner is in the basement and use the Villain Tutorial map? I think there are a few other options, but you might want to add to suggestions about hostages being available.
Ultimo Posted February 21 Author Posted February 21 Hm. I'll look around, but I didn't see anything else that kind of resembled a store. I thought of trying a casino, but they don't work either.
cranebump Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Store attached to a warehouse maybe? Sucks, though. The store and police station maps just don't have much utility. You plan Yin, and they're just packed with bad guys. You go to design a mish, and can't do anything with it. Being able to use any of the maps with prison cells -- actually putting prisoners in them -- would be SO nice. Alas... I have done a TON of AE work, both long form and single arc. Just search the AE mish list for my sig @cranebump. For more information on my stories, head to the AE forum sub-heading and look for “Crane’s World.” Support your AE authors! We ARE the new content.
Ankylosaur Posted March 7 Posted March 7 I did something like this with a Pawn Shop - I think there is a jewelry store too maybe? In mine though you were investigating a crime scene I think. M1 of All that Glows 1.1 if you just want to peak at that one mission. The owner was just a boss ally, and he would say something when you came in, and you would then examine glowies which triggers the ambush. In my case though the boss could fight so made sure he could hold his own. You could probably make them really tough with no attacks? 1 AE Arcs: Search for @Ankylosaur * denotes Dev's Choice Adventures in Lit: Adventures in Wonderland - 25-54* | Adventures in Oz - 40-54 | Adventures in Neverland - 45-54 Notable One-offs: Rularularian - 41-54* | The Serpent Beyond the Horizon - 46-52* | Robolution - 25-34* | The Genesis & Geneticists of The Coming Hamiggedon - 41-54* | Spycraft and Spidermen - 40-47 | Return to Faultline - 40-54 Post-Praetoria Series: All That Glitters: Gold Brickers & Mooks - 9 Arcs | All That Glimmers: First Warders & Mu - 9 Arcs | All That Glints: The Awakened & Council - 3 Arcs | All That Glows: Nictus & 5th Column - 3 Arcs* | All That Gleams: Epilogue (Neo Tokyo) - 1 Arc

starro Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Bar owners with some villain maps? Unfortunately they are small and few spawn locations.
