Superior Avalanche: Chance for Knockdown

I have noticed with my Superior Avalanche: Chance for Knockdown; I am getting tons of knockback and almost none knockdown. Is the IO build ot be this way and should be chance for knockback? Or could this possibly be a bug within the IO that the knockback chance is much higher?

What did you put it in?

 

My guess is that you put it in burn.  But that's just a guess.

Same issue. Fire Brute, slotted in Burn, tosses enemies all over.

As I explained in the other thread (not sure why we needed two on the same subject), when two types of knockdown combine it turns into knockback.

 

I am not sure if that's what is happening in Burn... the power doesn't normally provide knockdown.  I think someone explained it to me once why this happens, I forget now... but the end result is that if you slot Burn for knockdown, it turns into knockback.  And the solution is to slot whatever you have in burn in your fiery aura, and vice versa, and you're good.

The proc is stacking the knockdown on itself.  Burn is not a one time thing.  It's one up front damage and 13 tics.  The Proc can go off on any tic so those KDs add up into KB.  It's visually pretty funny because they don't just fall down or have a ragdoll.  They get launched like a missile at about 45 degrees.

 

Bottom line: proc is working fine, it just doesn't play well with burn.  Get some cheap unslotters and move that set to another PBAoE that doesn't have KB (eg.  Fire Sword Circle = good, Foot Stomp = bad).  Slot your burn with another set that has a damage proc.  Even better if you can fit two or three damage procs in there.

I just spent a truckload of Inf to 6-slot Superior Avalanche into Nova, and the "chance" of KB-to-KD appears to be 0% (zero).  Is this just a bad streak, or am I imagining this, or is this a legit bug?

Avalanche is not a KB to KD.  Those procs are in Sudden Acceleration and Overwhelming Force.

 

Get some unslotters and save that set for another character to put it in a PBAoE without any knock effect.

Yep, I found out that the Avalanche proc is to add Knockdown to a power that doesn't have it, not change Knockback to Knockdown.  I misunderstood it as the functional equivalent of the proc in Overwhelming Force and Sudden Acceleration, which it's not.

 

I unslotted it and re-sold it for what I paid for it, so no net loss.  I replaced it in the sixth slot with the KB-to-KD proc from SA.  I already had enough Fire/Cold Def anyway, LOL.
