Kheldian Build Recipes: Let's HEAT up the Dinner!

Recommended Posts

If any Kheldians or anyone else wants to take a look at this PB build and let me know what you think? Below is my intentions with it 💛

A build that makes it easy to transfer from a normal Tri-Form into Changeling playstyles.
Max Psi resist so you can take this build anywhere.
Teleport pool for the Fold Space drug 😄
Should be able to level up following it

I'll join in with my Warshade changeling build...

This is the planned "next" version, as the filename indicates, but virtually identical to current.

All the power picks and non-HO enhancements match the current version, I just can't afford all the HOs yet. Current version uses 50+5 PvP enhancements instead where applicable (plain Acc in Shadow Slip.)

Any suggestions for improvements welcome, especially if they save me not-yet-spent inf!

While this is a level 50 build with powers rearranged for exemplaring, it's very close to the order I actually picked the powers while leveling. If doing it all over again I'd probably follow this order until level 40 and prioritize LotG mules from there.

I love the playstyle resulting from changeling + some CC + lots of CC-resist:

The high amount of CC-resist usually stops you from being forced to stay in dwarf form (as has often been my experience with Khelidans before), but it's still present so you need to play around it, using stuns and knockdowns to counter-CC.

I find this much more interesting than essentially eliminating CC from the game using Clarion or something.

Notes on powers/slotting picks:

  • Annoyingly, I had to pick Combat Teleport over Starless Step because SS roots you after use, which CT does not. (I reported this as a bug, but not holding my breath 😞).
CT is probably my favorite power in the game, and I want it slotted for max range. "Infiltration+CT" is my travel power when not in a hurry.
  • I'm sure adding Dark Extraction would be a big improvement, even without slots dedicated to it, but I hate using it because of bugs - both that it doesn't respect power customization and that it often goes on cooldown without summoning. (Both of those have existing bug reports.)
  • I like actually using Gravitic Emanation for the stun. It'd be great if somebody has suggestions for how to also get some damage procs in there (or more range maybe...), but I do want decent rechange and stun duration on it, which goes against that.

Some benchmarks from a slightly earlier version are available in the Amras build benchmarks thread. This version has ~15% higher single target DPS.

I'm very pleasantly surprised it does so well in single-target DPS as lack of that is what's turned me off Khelidans in the past, but unfortunately that doesn't necessarily translate well to soloing AVs as it needs 3-5 targets for Eclipse to cap resists.

I run a changeling with a 6 damage proc gravitic shotgun. I personally don't see any benefit to slotting it for stun duration since your goal is to blow them all up as quick as you possibly can.

base recharge with the occasional FF +rech proc per mob, GE is up at the beginning of every spawn. With 6x procs (90% chance of firing) you have a power that does roughly 400 damage to each person hit.

that vs just a stun that you can eventually mez a boss with, just doesnt seem so attractive. just 6 slot it for damage procs and blow up people

GE + Inky Aspect will stun a boss on first hit, not "eventually."

To be fair that makes duration less important though...

I should give it another shot. Did try proc slotting earlier, but that was while leveling and with much lower damage overall, so it will probably play out differently now.

Edit: I tried it... and didn't like losing the ability to stunlock bosses.

Good that you tested, if you don't like it then that's cool too. we just got different ways of piloting the same ship right? 🙂

This is my current set up just so you can see what im basing my style off:

I have enough accuracy in sunless mire that it will be my reliable opening buff (assuming no eclipse, which will go first instead)

Then I can hit mire to boost my next 3 hit AOE rotation (and -res the $targets) then its DNE>DND>GE changeling style which all hit back to back to back super quick.

Its then just mopping up bosses really.
