I notice that both COT and Hellions both seem to summon the same succubi.  I would like to see more Hellions/Circle of Thorns crossover.  For example, Hellions with larger demon lords normally seen with COT, or ghosts.. or perhaps high level Hellions who seem to be halfway on their way to becoming full on phantom/undead type beings like the COT are due to being immersed in dark demonic energies for many years…  maybe some story arc about the two groups interacting in some way, or doing demonic rituals together.

Might be tricky, given that Hellions are specifically low level enemies and CoT go through the entire game.

I am inexpert on the lore but I don't feel like they have much synergy - their goals are far too different. Hellions are street level hedge wizarding thugs while CoT are evil demonic forces attempting to control the world.

In any conflict that involved those two and heroes I would be less surprised seeing Hellions side with the heroes against the circle given that they only have the earthly dimension in which to exist.

There's a fine line between a numerator and a denominator but only a fraction of people understand that.

Actually, they don't. The Succubus from the Circle of Thorns has red skin and is wingless. The Girlfriend From Hell from the Hellions has orange skin and wings. Both are demons, but it cannot be said with any certainty that they come from the same place or serve the same masters. So me personally? I don't view them as being the same or even coming from the same place. Who knows how many demonic realms there are in the CoX lore? I just figure the CoT made pacts with the denizens of 1 realm and the Hellions made pacts with the master of another.

Honestly, I don't think I could see the COT seeing the Hellions as anything but amateurs... or victims. Some Hellion might try to approach the COT to get more power, just to be told "Sure, step one - jab this thorn into your side..."

Which, itself, might make for an interesting story - you'd end up sympathetic to some Hellions - but the down side of that is that that story (with other NPCs) is already in the game in the ... 20s? 30s? in essence.

I was thinking that at the deepest or highest level, Hellions were somehow serving or working for the COT behind the scenes. Imagine hellions who got just a bit too deep into the demonic magic, beyond casual thug stuff.   Just an idea I thought seemed cool.   Sure their goals seem different at first glance but I could see the more dedicated members of the Hellions getting into the more sinister side of magic, and having some association with the COT.

not a bad idea but in lore those guys are "victims" - the ones duped into stabbing themselves in the heart believing they'll become immortal, but in fact becoming a host for the malevolence of the CoT

What is perhaps more plausible is the Hellions working against the CoT and bringing in heroes to do the heavier lifting - getting rid of CoT in Kings Row, Perez Park etc gives Hellions a chance to spread their wings - then they can mount a real challenge against the Skulls perhaps

Another idea would be to have conflicting hellion factions. Hellions who became obsessed with the dark arts and began to foolishly follow the COT in search of power, perhaps becoming victims of mind control/brainwashing in the process, and hellions who sought the help of heros to defeat their possessed former gangmates, who are in various stages of becoming ghouls..

That would be very unlikely to work but I can see where you're going wtih it.

Taking a contemporary example, since there's a topical movie, let's take biker gangs. Imagine a chapter of say "The Vandals" decided they were gonna do something different to the rest of the gang. Yeah... pieces of them would likely turn up in different and strange places. Messages would be sent.

And then those outside of that environment, seeing the Vandals all at odds with itself might well move in and take them out as an opportunity.

That might be the heroes' call to "Save the Hellions from extinction" but it would take a long arc that you'd outlevel too fast to enjoy.

I appreciate that you have some significant love for a faction that hasn't really gotten much limelight and that's great but there's a reason they are not notable as a foe. They are cannon fodder, put in game to help you on your journey to bigger (and sometimes better) things. By all means write an AE arc - if you do I'll gladly play it - but I suspect you're on a hiding to nothing trying to give them more in game importance.

I actually see more a Skull and hellion team-up would be more something that could actually happen.

combines powers of fire and darkness lvl ranging 20-35.

I can't imagine the Hellions having anything to offer the CoT other than some of them coincidentally having a powerful magical bloodline. It's much more likely for the CoT to infiltrate the higher ranks of the Hellions. They could hand out powers to promising members (secretly turn them into CoT) while the lower ranks remain ignorant petty thugs.

What we colloquially call "demons", at least in the CoH setting, may actually originate from vastly different planes/dimensions.  Further, the method or terms under which they have been brought to Primal Earth and in what ways they serve their new masters, (unless they entered our world of their own volition), differs greatly, etc.  In short, I envision the Hellions serving as little more than potential sacrifices or vessels for which the CoT can bring forth more ancient members of their lineage or just to harvest some additional magical energy...

Hmm, how about Hellions stealing some magic plot device from the CoT resulting in high level (50+) Hellions?

Similar to high level Trolls in the Pandoras Box arc

Also also, I kinda want stuff like this for a bunch of lowbie Villain groups and then have those groups inhabit Kallisti, because it would be incredible cool to become incarnate and then go right back to fighting the same gangs you started with.

back to the Zukunft
