A treatise on Leading LoF leagues and why I won't be leading them anymore

I sincerely think people just don’t understand the monetary value of Aethers vs Merits.

Which do you think is of greater utility? Value?

I think 1 prismatic is worth more than 1 reward merit, as far as the market goes. But the reward merit has a lot more utility. Hard to believe 1000 prismatics can be worth 2.7B, depending on price and fees. (assuming a 3M price)

Of course a single Aether is going to be worth more than a single Reward Merit, but as far as comparing 8 Aethers to 80 Merits, Vanden has it right.

I don’t see any utility that Reward Merits have that Prismatics don’t outside of fringe cases (like needing Merits specifically to purchase Mini Tyrant from Luna). As far as the utility of turning them into Converters or Boosters or IO’s or whatever, you can of course achieve the same thing by selling your Aethers on the market and then purchasing said Converters/Boosters/etc. Although you’ll probably lose a small percentage of the overall value in the Auction House process.

I should explain that I am usually able to get on at least two or three Hamidon runs a day for the HC servers I play on. cause those are at set times, so they are basically guaranteed merit rewards, with a chance to get an HO that can be worth 100 mil.

Getting more than one LOF per day is very often hit or miss for catching it when it’s announced on LFG and more often that not if I just go there randomly, it’s just ended. And no one want to hunt EBS/mobs after. Anyone not wanting the motes just leaves.

So guaranteed reward at set times plus a chance at something that worth 100 mil instantly vs. something is a very easily missible event.

That’s where I am coming from.

80 merits = 240 converters

240 converters * 65k inf on the market = 15.6m inf

8 Prismatic Aether * 2.5m inf = 20m inf

The rewards are pretty close. And 8 Prismatic Aether will sell a lot faster that 240 converters.

Very often Hami runs are actually more than 80 if you do multiple a day.

More than once a day for some servers.

And a chance at an HO that will sell for 100+ mil if you choose to chance one of those 40 merit rolls for an HO role instead.

EDIT: With that said I’m very happy with the rewards changes that are on their way and it will probably pull in more participation for LOF.  😊

Fixed some sentence structure that made the reward seem bigger than it is for Hami

Decided to check some stuff for Hami comparison

Type AH #
Centriole Exposure (Dam/Range) 500k 7
Cytoskeleton Exposure (End/ToHit/Def) 27m 1
Endoplasm Exposure (Acc/Mez) 57k 5
Enzyme Exposure (End/Def Debuff/ToHit Debuff) 300k 9
Golgi Exposure (End/Heal/Absorb) 1m 9
Lysosome Exposure (Acc/Def Debuff/ToHit Debuff) 400k 8
Membrane Exposure (Rech/ToHit/Def) 3.2m 4
Microfilament Exposure (End/Fly/Jump/Run) 13m 8
Nucleolus Exposure (Acc/Dam) 29m 15
Peroxisome Exposure (Dam/Mez) 6k 14
Ribosome Exposure (End/Res) 1.5m 3

So, based on the last 83 drops, you can sell your Hami drop for an average of 7.2 million, which is less than what one can get from selling 120 converters (based on selling at 65k)   Very unscientific check on what the current price is on the AH.

Obviously, there are other ways to make more inf with 120 converters.    And this doesn't account for gathering Hamis and combining them to level 53, then selling them which is usually more profitable than selling just the 50s.

On the other hand, participating in the HO lottery can save you a considerable amount of inf, with a bit of luck; while I don't think I'm going to get them to +3 any time soon, I got both of the Cytoskeleton Exposure HOs I wanted for the basic slotting of my Necro/Marine build from Hami raid drops over a period of about a week. YMMV; you can get Peroxisome Exposure 'thank you for playing' drops over and over and over again before you ever see one you want or can sell for a good amount of inf.
