Add Dr. Meinst and Doc Buzzsaw to the Abandoned Sewer Network

Recommended Posts

Suggestion: Add Dr. Meinst and Doc Buzzsaw, and Dr. Vahzilok to the Abandoned Sewer Network.

Specifically, add Dr. Meinst and Doc Buzzsaw as a pair to the vicinity of the Skyway Sector map marker like the other Vahzilok Elite Boss rare spawns and if possible, add Dr. Vahzilok (as a weakend Archvillain that follows the current story for the Villain) as a rare spawn to his Abandoned Lab location.

The Elite Boss Dr. Meinst is currently available to defeat in both 'The Graveyard Shift' story arc and the 'Death From Below' trial.

The Elite Boss Doc Buzzsaw can only be defeated in the first Positron Task Force.

The Archvillain Dr. Vahzilok is found at the end of the Hero 'Vahzilok Plague' story arc and at the end of the second Positron Task Force.

Rationale: It is fun defeating the other six Vahzilok Elite Bosses down in the Abandoned Sewer Network. If there's an unwritten rule about no zone spawning Archvillains, I would be satisfied with just the aforementioned Elite Bosses.

Edit: Having an AV spawn in a zone would devalue the experience of fighting them in the climactic conclusion of the aforementioned Task Force and story arcs. And canonically, Dr. Vahz is in the Supermax prison in Brickstown.

I had no idea EBs spawned in the sewers.

The Sewers of Paragon are like their own parallel World to Paragon City. I am surprised the Lost haven't build their own Society down there. It's been long enough!

Did... they remove the Galaxy City Portions of the Sewers from the Sewer Map after the crisis?

I'm not sure, there may be some old map on the Wiki that shows it.

It looks like the Galaxy City portion of the sewers are still there. I can't log in the game right now to see if there is a sealed door right now or check map alignment for the zones.

@Glacier Peak All I know, is that I'm gonna copy/paste that map you posted to my clipboard so I don't get lost in the Abandoned Sewers anymore.  😄

I do support your suggestion, though. 👍

Okay, yeah, running through the sewers, looks like any Galaxy City portion that used to exist is removed. I'm pretty sure but not 100% that there used to be a Galaxy City exit, but the entire section of the sewers that should go there is not there (or was re-linked to King's Row?). (Edit: No, pretty sure KR always had a link, so just no GC section any more provided it previously existed.)

Edit again: The patch notes make no mention of the sewers being changed for Galaxy City being destroyed though: https://archive.paragonwiki.com/wiki/Patch_Notes/2011-09-13

All these years, I've been imagining them reworking Perez Park, reworking Galaxy City, doing something to follow up and bring those areas up to date... and I always forgot about the Sewers under Galaxy. Considering that they haven't cured the Lost in all those years since then either, despite all the research, it makes me wonder if the Lost are using the sealed sections of the Galaxy City Sewer to keep things going.

There could also, of course, other factions that operate in the Sewers involved. Circle of Thorns, Vahzilok, and even Hellion Smugglers could be down there. There is also the question of how the Hydra might have interactions with the Shivians. There are many possibilities. Even the Skulls may have survivors of Galaxy that were driven underground, since that was their main stomping ground.

When you look at the map, you realize Perez Park is directly above  "Underworld" sections of the Sewer and Galaxy City Sewers must be to the West of that, North of Kings Row. That makes the Atlas Park, Skyway City, and Steel Canyon Gates to Perez Park make sense.

All of this does make me wonder one thing.... where is the central Water Treatment Facility for Paragon City located? When I think of each city zone, the only area that I can think of that has Water Treatment in Paragon would probably be in Faultline (Which isn't even connected to the main Sewers because of all the Underground Damage.) When I think of Water Treatment in Rogue Islands, many multiple facilities come to mind. The Infrastructure of Paragon is a tad more mysterious.

Yea, this is a short time before the patch destroyed Galaxy and it doesn't list the sewers as connected

https://web.archive.org/web/20110719024731/http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Galaxy_City

Atlas does list it

https://web.archive.org/web/20110719023259/http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Atlas_Park

I couldn't tell you if we used to enter the sewers in Galaxy or now.

The only problem with the Galaxy City link you provided is that it says it lists information for how the game will be when Issue 21 is implemented, and Galaxy City was destroyed in Issue 21. I really, really, really want to say that Galaxy City used to have its own Sewer Network access though. Via a door that pretty well blended into its wall.

Bah.  I didn't see that.   I went ahead and went back further and confirmed that in 2010, Galaxy didn't show Sewer, but Atlas does.  Went ahead and checked the 2010 Atlas, Steel, Boomtown, Kings, and Skyway pages which all list the sewers.

Erm, did you guys know wiki pages have history tabs that are built-in archives of previous page versions?

Alright folks I'm going to have to ask we get back to the topic of this suggestion.

In that vein, I really would like to see more "Elite Boss/Giant Monster/Wild Villain" Spawns in the Sewers. Obviously, Vahzilok uses the Sewer Network fairly extensively... but they aren't the only ones.

It would be nice to see some unique rare spawns for all the Sewer factions. Lost rank up there pretty high with Vahzilok for potentially having unique spawns in the sewers.

Although, since we are mentioning Sewer Factions... there was something I was pondering. The only time the Freedom Corps goes into the Sewer is when hunting the Hydra. The rest of the time... who has authority down there? Is there some sort of Paragon Sewage Authority that patrols and maintains the Sewer network? Does the Hero Corps do the dirty work for extra pay? Or is Wyvern training vigilantes down in the shadowy underground networks? As long as Villains aren't freeroaming the Paragon Sewers, it probably doesn't matter, but it would be a kinda nice bit of scenery to have friendlies down there. Especially if more big baddies are going to start spawning down there. You might have each of the areas divided by different groups who would handle the Sewer Patrols and escort Maintenance Engineers down there. Or you might have it so that there are "Yellow" spawns like in Rogue Isles where various criminal organizations have disguised thugs doing Maintenance work for the city. The Family would certainly be in charge of the Sewer Maintenance in Port Independence, if there were any sewers there. (And perhaps that is where the Sewage Treatment Facilities actually are, now that I think about it. From an infrastructure and city industrial planning standpoint, it makes good sense.)

The Sewer Network (not to be confused with the Abandoned Sewer Network) of Paragon City is not a place utilities workers go anymore. The grimy, filthy water and rusty pipes are now the venue for hordes of smelly scoundrels. The maze-like corridors hide many dangerous foes, and ample turns for anyone to get lost among. The enemies are numerous, and tougher than what you can expect to find in Atlas Park or Galaxy City. There are no contacts or trainers down here, only villains looking for trouble. Rumor has it that the Rikti fled to even deeper parts of the sewers when their invasion was defeated.

https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Sewer_Network

Edit: And there are above ground water treatment facilities. They come into play on some Skulls and DE missions.

Great idea.

I contemplate this every time I do the exploration badge for Sewer and Abandoned Sewer
