Teklord Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Good to know, I went looking but didn't find that reference
Auroxis Posted October 30 Posted October 30 My vote goes to Fire/Marine. It doesn't have the damage buff potential of Kinetics, but it does give the following offensive tools: 1. PBAoE tele-attack you can load with procs in Whitecap. 2. Top tier levels of -res as far as support powersets go. 3. Very high levels of +damage (almost as much as Nature at maximum Shifting Tide stacks and Tide Pool+Rough Waters). 4. Shifting Tides is a powerful extra source of damage which triggers constantly on teams resulting in a big DPS increase. 1

Fulcrum Shift which both buffs your team and debuffs the mobs dmg, and Transfusion which also debuffs -regen it also has the most powerful radial heal in the game. Siphon Speed. And yes, I still use Siphon Power even post FS. It's useful against things like AVs. Top 10 Most Fun 50s. 1. Without Mercy: Claws/ea Scrapper. 2. Outsmart: Fort 3. Sneakers: Stj/ea Stalker. 4. Teklord Posted October 30 Posted October 30 (edited) I sometimes fit in Siphon Speed (-recharge) when I don't have anything else recharged. Now I mostly play my psi/kin who has FF +recharge proc in psi tornado and tk blast. So siphon speed (-recharge) is only really needed for its debuff and I don't use it much. I dropped siphon power (too many clicks) but do see it's utility for AVs but also want to remind that FS is +60% with one target and Siphon Power is +20%, both are stackable. They both apply a -20% dmg debuff. I stand by my "for the most part" comment since you basically cast FS and transfusion, my transfusion procs a +end so I rarely do anything else in combat. In any lull I cast Speed Boost and ID. I try to get the ID on someone without mez protection but ultimately don't spend any time on it. If playing in a low level clock mission/tf or something I will be casting a lot of transfusion to wake people up. Also since I am psi I am getting -recharge from psychic scream, knockup from psi tornado and -res from a proc in Scramble thoughts. Psi Blast is a good pairing, it has fast activations, does decent mitigation (knockup, -recharge) and is key for killing certain types of annoying mobs (cyclops, paragon protectors, yada). It also has 3 AOEs to chain without counting the nuke, the nuke is very fast and it has an excellent ST chain. Since all the animations are fast you can react and cast transfusion, or whatever quickly. I use combat teleport which is also thematic and really good for positioning. Edited November 15 by Teklord

Interesting on the Psi pairing - I never even think about it as an option. My Defender is Kin/Sonic and my Corruptor is Fire/Kin.
Teklord Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Psi blast gets a bad rap. It is fast acting, has good ST and AOEs, it doesn't have aim (a benefit for me) and you can really go to town. It exemps well because clockwork, council robots are a thing but if you are teaming then it isn't a thing. It makes ITFs faster because the EB cleanup of cyclops, minos etc is just waiting for me to ST them twice. Basically it is a case of the conventional wisdom being pretty wrong about a set by focusing on certain elements and missing the bulk of your play as well as the advantages.

Magical Posted November 2 Posted November 2 in a vacuum, nothing beats fire/kin. debuff sets get nerfed by purple patch and other buff sets don't put out the same insane combination of damage, recharge, endurance and regen debuff that kin does. however, the irony is that if your team has a kin then the kin themselves will rarely be the highest damage dealer, far from it. in that case you really want a procced out blast like ice or AR with a resistance debuffing support set to take advantage of the kin buffs and they are gonna do way more dps than any kin can.
Greyhame Posted November 7 Posted November 7 If we're only talking about level 45+ gameplay where incarnate powers can cover the weaknesses of /Kin and /TA then I agree with those recommendations. If you're going to exemp much and want a set that works well as a high damage soloing generalist at most level ranges, I'd go with /Time. It's hard to beat a set that combines -regen & -res with excellent survival (+def, -tohit, slow, heal) and great utility (+rech, +end).
Without_Pause Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Time's -Regen is subpar. If I'm soloing something like an EB, I would gladly take Dark over Time. Top 10 Most Fun 50s. 1. Nitpick, I think you meant to say siphon power here instead of siphon speed, as siphon speed has no effect on damage or damage debuff. I take siphon power for the debuff on hard targets. I take siphon speed because the speed debuff is IRRESISTIBLE. carry on Edited November 15 by Psylenz0511 1

I skipped it in favor of Acid Arrow. If I were to respec, I'm not sure what I would give up for it. Hmm...maybe rain of fire. Actually, I'm an idiot. I didn't remember the name of the arrow I skipped. I actually have Ice Arrow. The debuffs this thing does in pretty nice. I almost think this should be a defender, rather than a corruptor. And I might make one, but I have a thing for Scourge. Fire blast and scourge is a beautiful thing.

I don't currently have siphon power on my corruptor as I have toe many things to click.

Gerswin Posted November 15 Posted November 15 /Kin might add the most damage to the team, but nothing racks up 'You have defeated x' in your combat tab like ice/storm and fire/storm. Ice/storm in particular can just rotate between ice storm, blizzard, tornado, and freezing rain to create a patch of carnage. With all of those scourging rains firing off at the same time, the AOE DPS is fantastic, especially once your teammates nuke them down to the point where scourge is high. Even more special with fold space. Lots of damage mitigation as well. Both ice and fire have very respectable single target damage with stacking freezing rain and their proc'd 3 or 4 single target rotation. 1

Only -22.5% res and mediocre damage buff. Chrono shift gives the same recharge as speed boost so they're equal in that but nothing time has stands up to fulcrum or even overgrowth. Pre-45 very little is dangerous so any set do fine. Why does anyone need incarnate powers in pre-incarnate content? Edited November 23 by Magical

Why does anyone need incarnate powers in pre-incarnate content? Time's -Regen is also poor. It is about the only reason to not take it. I have done Time/beam for bit, but I'm tempted to reroll again, or do Time/sonic to help counter the low -Regen. CS also buffs the caster and can be made perma as where SB doesn't. Kin can get it from Siphon Speed, but that's still an additional power needing to be used. Top 10 Most Fun 50s. 1. Without Mercy: Claws/ea Scrapper. 2. Outsmart: Fort 3. Sneakers: Stj/ea Stalker. 4.
