SirBronco Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Making a stalker or scrapper. Want to go either electric/dark or dark/electric. Thinking of a Halloween themed toon. Drained by fear…ie draining them of their end and then fearing them. Has anyone tried one of these two combos on a stalker or scrapper? Thoughts? Thanks.
Ringo Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Just looking at the differences between the two: Dark Melee Scrappers get Soul Drain and Dark Consumption, which Stalkers trade for Assassins Eclipse and Build Up Electric Armor Scrappers get Lightning Field which Stalkers replace with Hide Dark Melee/Electric Armor combo: Scrappers have slightly more HP which is nice for resist sets. Stalkers losing Dark Consumption is less noticeable because you have Power Sink as well which has a 60 second recharge for both ATs as compared to Dark Consumption's 180 second recharge. Scrapper Lightning Field is also not much of a loss. Stalkers should take Placate, whereas Confront is an easy Scrapper skip that gives more room for other stuff. Mechanically (as long as you have no opinion on Hide, or Crits on Demand vs random Crits) I think Stalker comes out slightly ahead on comparison for DM/Elec. Though Assassins Eclipse is a kinda boring animation IMO
Ringo Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Electric Melee Scrappers get Confront and Lightning Clap, Stalkers get Placate and Assassins Shock Dark Armor Scrappers get Death Shroud and Cloak of Darkness, Stalkers get Hide and Shadow Dweller Electric Melee/Dark Armor: Much more interesting choice! I think Stalkers come out ahead on Dark Armor because Scrapper DoT Auras are meh and you get an improved Cloak of Darkness between Hide and Shadow Dweller (Auto power meabs no end cost for Shadow dweller, plus SD and Hide give a slightly higher defense total), though it does mean picking 2 powers instead of just 1. However while Lightning Clap is generally not something a Scrapper cares about, a Dark Armor Scrapper can combo it with Oppressive Gloom to get a Mag 4 stun on bosses, which can be handy! So if that appeals to you I'd say Scrappers have a slightly expanded bag of tricks in the Elec/DA arsenal
Octogoat Posted October 28 Posted October 28 I'd go dark/elec to shore up defense holes with the -tohit if you're dead set on a resist armor set another alternative is dark/dark and cause havoc.

Lots of experience with those sets on scrappers. You mention endurance drain and fear, but consider adding stun/disorient to your thought process as well. Electric Melee/Dark Armor has a lot of synergies both outright and with wise proc usage. In terms of plain old fear, there is not a lot of options out there outside of Dark Armor. Dark Melee Touch of Fear only applies Fear on the main target, so if you really want to Fear it up you'll need to go into the Presence Pool. With Endurance Drain, I'm generally not going to slot for it on melee types, but Radial Paragon Musculature is going to help you with both your endurance drain and personal endurance recovery, and the Energy Manipulator proc is very useful to stack stun mag. I'd probably skip Lightning Clap on a Elec/Dark scrapper, since you can get plenty of stun elsewhere (but it's key on my ridiculously powerful Elec/Bio scrapper). As far as scrapper v. stalker, I don't have much experience on high end stalkers but I'd imagine you get a much better ST experience and having fear/end drain/stun in play to neuter the minions maybe you are better off! Without_Pause Posted October 28 Posted October 28 While I went Brute, I've enjoyed my time playing Dark/elec when I had one on Live and recently again for Gold side. I can see thematically Elec/dark working for a Stalker, but I loath Thunderstrike's animation time. Top 10 Most Fun 50s. 1. Without Mercy: Claws/ea Scrapper. 2. Outsmart: Fort 3. Sneakers: Stj/ea Stalker. 4. Emma Strange: Ill/dark Controller. 5. Project Next: Ice/stone Brute. 6. Waterpark: Water/temp Blaster. 6. Mighty Matt: Rad/bio Brute. 7. Without Hesitation: Claws/sr Scrapper. 8. Within Reach: Axe/stone Brute. 9. Without Pause: Claws/wp Brute. 10. Chasing Fireworks: Fire/time Controller. "Downtime is for mortals. Debt is temporary. Electric Armor is one of the few cases where I will try to take it on a brute, since even with criminally poor slotting you are going to bust way above 75% on energy resistance (and probably some others as well) and that feels wasteful. 1 Who run Bartertown?

Octogoat Posted November 1 Posted November 1 I made a katana/dark brute for Halloween. A samurai mummy who uses rularuu katana. Neferanpu. So far she's destroying missions and I can't recommend the combo enough! 1 1

Yes, it truly is a beautiful combo. 🙂 ❤️ Edited November 1 by Frozen Burn
