Voltor Posted December 7 Posted December 7 IN the Halloween Banner event when all banners are down you get a distance to target indicator in your nav compass that helps you locate the giant to take down. Could this be added to all the giants in the game? Example: in Winter event in a zone you get the big message that WL has spawned but then you are searching everywhere for him. OR in Nerva when Caleb is spawned you can't see him until you are up close but a distance to target indicator would help. 1 25 alts with all the badges!
biostem Posted December 7 Posted December 7 I could see some sort of area indicator on a map for where the GM is, but IIRC, having to track them down was supposed to be part of the experience, (not that I necessarily agree with the design decision, just that CoH was created in an era where there a certain amount of ambiguity was intended in these sorts of things). 1
Rudra Posted December 7 Posted December 7 (edited) In the Deadly Apocalypse event, there is a timer before the event ends. There is no such timer for the other GMs. (Edit: Well, Caleb goes away at dawn, but otherwise, I'm not aware of GMs being on a timer.) So we get a helping hand to find the Mystic Aspect before the event timer runs out. Edited December 7 by Rudra

Additionally, another 100 demons can be defeated at any point after the first Caleb is spawned and will allow for a second Caleb to spawn after the first is defeated and the in-game time reaches 2000hrs. 1 I lead weekly Indom Badge Runs / A newer giant monster guide by Glacier Peak / A tour of Pocket D easter eggs! / Arena All-Star Accolade Guide! Glacier Peak Posted December 7 Posted December 7 There's a map overlay out there that already allow a player to see all potential spawn locations for GMs. I lead weekly Indom Badge Runs / A newer giant monster guide by Glacier Peak / A tour of Pocket D easter eggs! / Arena All-Star Accolade Guide! Apologies. The wiki says he goes away and I don't spend time hunting GMs except rarely.

Could this be added to all the giants in the game? I feel like this would make Giant Monsters *too* easy to find and defeat. There are already plenty of multi-boxers who do things like camp in Echo: Dark Astoria, or who sweep through zones after Giant Monster announcements, bringing their alts... there is no reason to take ALL the skill of "hunting" out of the game. Many players already don't "clean up" after Giant Monsters, leaving Rubbles, Clockworks, Croatoan extras, etc.... putting an indicator of the GM presence would almost certainly contribute to keeping monsters from eventually respawing, as who will patrol a zone looking for a GM that they "know" isn't there? The only Giant Monster I feel that this request would make any sort of sense for is the Arachnos Flier, and even requesting for it I have mixed feeling. The reasons I feel it might make sense for the Arachnos Flier: There are four different Fliers, each is invulnerable when flying on the (different, non-random) paths The Flier will "despawn" in a very mobile way. AFAIK the only other open-world "zone" GM that will despawn is the summoned Adamastor timer. All the other GM will stay in the zone until defeated, some will move, some will not. 1
