It was in the files from back in the day when IIRC issue 25 was being planned on live. Radiation Armor, Radiation Melee and I believe the Sentinel were also buried in there as well ( although I could be wrong about that )

 

Have been hopeful we would see this added for some time. Honestly Dominators need more options. They have some of the fewest options in the game as far as powerset combos. Also could make some very thematic controllers as well. 

 

Remaining hopeful.....

I want wind control, I have played it on other servers and sure, it could use a little tweaking but yeah I want it.  And I want it with no tampering of KB or KD effects.

Another server group has it but it had to be cobbled together as not all the FX were available if I recall correctly.

 

Personally - given the last few power sets released by Homecoming, I'd expect something more along the lines of "STORM CONTROL". It could feature many of the mechanical effects of a Wind Control, but could also incorporate some power FX from Storm Summoning, Storm Blast, and possibly some Ice powers, Water powers and/or Electric/Lightning powers.

Two are running it, one is working better than the other.  Yes there is some FX reuse but hey, that's nothing new even on Homecoming.

i personally don‘t think it’s worth introducing - control powers are not overly useful in HC thesedays and have fallen behind due to the current play strategies, i say that as a keen dominator player

 

plus, i’m sure it would be introduced with some sort of overly complex combo mechanic - does anyone actually enjoy those or am i the outlier?

They can have their place, but they don't necessarily have to be included in every power. It can be a bit overwhelming/annoying if both of your power sets feature them (have to keep track of two different "stacks" - like Marine Affinity + Water Blast.). Maybe if powers of a similar theme shared a common resource or had other interactions it wouldn't be so bad.

Od course I don’t know, I’m just messing around.

Two things come to mind when Wind Control is brought up.

First is that with all the expectations people have for this set, there is no way they will be happy with whatever they eventually get.

Second is that this sounds like it will bring about more KB, and thus more……”crying”…….about people without KB2KD.

disagree... thats a factor in the end gane for sure.. but not for most play.

More useful in game content than in the end-game content, I'm sure.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

I don't think we'll ever see it but in its original conception there was no KB. It had 1 knockup and 1 knockdown.

I've played this control on another server.  It's very strong, partly because how good that aoe confuse is which for some reason an aoe confuse gets compared to Seeds of Confusion and that seems propper...?

 

The combo mechanics are okay I guess.  I agree less combo mechanics for things would be ideal but for where it might make sense and limited combos.  

 

In its current form it would be a step below Plant so real strong.  I do agree though until we can wrap our heads around how we want to see control behave in City of's meta nukem real good I don't know if it'd be a priority I'd push for having just got gun controls.  

 

Though I dont think that's good policy just to dismiss fleshing out a powerset just because its on another server, especially when most of the powers are already coded into the game and the old team didn't get a chance to port it to the players.
