What's the point of this SG base computer?

Never saw this before, it's a computer that offers alignment mission for merits. Besides the obvious is there any reason for this? Was it implemented just to make getting the missions easier?

I don't know the full scope of its usage but once upon a time the Silver Mantis SF could only be started from this, may have been Renault.

Besides the above old TFs/SFs/trials that USED to be started there, this was - and still is - a way to get the the tip missions that give out badges.  Sometimes, people just have bad luck or have no sacrificed enough to the RNG gods to get the badge tip missions to drop.  Now, you pay one reward merit and boom - badge mish.  🙂

Well there is that mission where you can run several times for void hunter badge.  I have used it to fast track getting that.  Also faster than waiting for tips to drop.

Primarily originally for the Silver Mantis SF back in the day, and CoP trial. That is the two thinga I remember doing on live with them.
