Warboss Posted Thursday at 03:18 PM Posted Thursday at 03:18 PM Hi all, I'm not an Ice Armor expert (by any measure) but I thought the DDR for Defense sets was higher than what I'm seeing on my IA Tanks. Mine are coming in around 51% DDR. Does that seem right? Seems a bit low considering SD is ~68% then stacks up to 88%+ with Active Defense and SR is in the 90s (iirc), so ~50% on Ice seems woefully low. I've got all the primaries except Hibernate (and I'm hoping that's NOT the intended "solution"). Am I missing something? Let me know. Thanks in advance. Uun Posted Thursday at 04:41 PM Posted Thursday at 04:41 PM That's all there is, 17.3% each in Frozen Armor, Wet Ice and Glacial Armor (51.9% total). Stone gets the same values outside of Granite. Aside from a higher 77.9% base value, the reason SR gets so much more is that its DDR is affected by enhancements while Ice's and Stone's aren't. (Shield has 56.2% base with the DDR in Battle Agility affected by enhancements and that in Active Defense stackable.) The "solution" I use is to build for defense in excess of the soft cap. If I've got 50% defense and get hit with a 10% debuff, ~5% will be resisted and the other ~5% will get through, but I'll still be left with 45% defense. Uuniverse
Troo Posted Thursday at 04:44 PM Posted Thursday at 04:44 PM (edited) Not all armours are the same. Even amongst the defensive sets there are different strengths and strategies. 1 hour ago, Warboss said: ~50% on Ice seems woefully low. While you get to have your opinion, the -dmg and -recharge plus -speed Ice Armor offers can result in less attacks hitting less often for less damage. Learning how to lean into a characters strengths is part of the game. arcane Posted Thursday at 06:50 PM Posted Thursday at 06:50 PM (edited) Ice Armor is great; you’ll be fine. No, don’t bother taking Hibernate on a Tanker. I think the only powerset in the game where I feel like I actually have to justify getting all 9 powers is Scrapper/Brute/Tanker Bio Armor. Edited Thursday at 07:19 PM by arcane

Agreed, the only time I take Hibernate is when I'm testing game mechanics. Edited yesterday at 02:07 PM by Warboss Nothing warms your opponent like Fiery Melee. Thanks for the post, I wasn't aware of the mechanics involved, it explains a lot. I follow a similar "solution" when building my Ice Tanks (was hoping I was just missing something ...). Warboss Posted 17 hours ago Author Posted 17 hours ago So... I've been doing some testing and I'm not seeing a major difference in the -Recharge from CE. How are you all slotting it? Psyonico Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago You can’t enhance -recharge, so an end redux is really all you need. CE’s -recharge is -32%, so even against +3s that’s over 20% recharge debuff if they don’t have additional recharge resistance. What this team needs is more Defenders
