Troll Rave redo

It's always seemed an odd event for me, with no impetus to complete, except for badges.

 

How about making the racers even con? So they're like invasion mobs.

 

Maybe even throw in some bigger boys as EB's and an AV or some such?

That's basically every zone event in the game. They are there with nothing saying "Urgent! This needs to be dealt with!". They are there and if players want to do them, they can. The only difference is that the Troll Rave, like the Arson, is only available for a set time before it goes away for a bit.

This has been asked for before and I am as opposed to doing this now as I was then.

Why? Trolls are a low tier faction. They have a single EB: Atta. And outside of the Pandora's Box bit, where Atta is still the only Troll above a boss, as low-end a faction as they are, I don't understand the desire for Troll AVs or even multiple EBs. The addition of AVs to the Skulls line up made sense given the story and how it was progressing, but adding EBs and AVs just for a random rave that the police easily keep contained until the Supa Trolls run off? Even the Arches from the Prison Break event are still just bosses, stronger bosses, but still just bosses.

How about giving it a little story then as opposed to just "Stop them from dancing while sparkling"

 

They could con even as they aren't your average trolls, they are souped up on Supradrine, Supa you might even say.

 

The mission could be to stop the trolls from hurting themselves as much as others, with the EBs being Skulls who are the ones peddling the 'dine in the first place.

I can't speak for the devs, but I still find your pitch odd. The Trolls are there to party, not invade/conquer the zone. And things like glitter and glow sticks are old staples for raves. So if the Trolls have their own version for their rave that makes them full on glow? Good on them. Especially since it helps them be visible to players as part of the rave and not just random spawns near the rave. And when they get souped up on Superadine at their rave? When they OD on Superadine at their rave? They turn into Supa Trolls. Until they become Supa Trolls though? They are just your average Trolls. At a rave.

 

To me, that is the story. Trolls holding what they want to be a wild party that the police are keeping contained until some Trolls get strong enough to break out and run amok as Supa Trolls.

 

As for making the Skulls being present as EBs peddling their Superadine to Trolls at the rave? Why would they do something so blatant with police right there keeping everything contained? Firstly because the Skulls don't have any EBs. Secondly because the last thing you want your criminal boss(es) doing is going to a known gathering of punks known for breaking things to stand there peddling an illegal drug in plain view of the authorities in obvious attempt to make things even worse. That's not what the Skulls do, even with their breaking away from Family control and their leaders getting sufficiently empowered by whatever entities of death they venerate to become AVs and start moving the Skulls towards the big leagues. Something I find hard to accept with the near feral Trolls to progress to.

 

As to the mission? The primary goal in my opinion is to contain the Trolls so their Supa forms don't cause a lot of damage across the city. (Setting aside that the zone is not destructible, so they can't. Or that one of the rave spawn points has the Supas running by Police Drones that zap them away on their way to the gather points to have the Supas moving through the zone.) You don't see any Awakened officers, power armor officers, or PPD robots there to deal with the raving Trolls. You don't even see SWAT or Ghosts there. So that tells you they are not a major threat. Still a threat, but not a major one. Because they are just Trolls. Throwing a party. That will eventually end, with the Trolls scattering because they're done, until the next rave.

It's just my opinion that the supa trolls should be unleveled, like the mobs for Croatoa. 

I ask myself - is this something a badger should be able to complete, solo, without any fear of face planting? In my opinion, the answer is no - until I'm the one doing it, lol. But still, it's quite trivial, and when I try to do this with a level appropriate character, I either find a level 50 not only making literal child's play of it, they apparently need no supa trolls because they just blast the ravers into smithereens before they can become supa trolls. And when you try to politely invite yourself, or ask them to allow the ravers to become supa trolls, this can go well, or poorly. I've had some players tell me to kick rocks, and other players claim ignorance. 

I don't think making them unleveled like other events is a bad move. The only reason not to is for the sake of the weaker dps badgers.

I can support this. Especially considering bosses downgrade to lieutenants when they become Supas.
