Something Wrong with Day Job Timers?

Have a character I created before the last patch, and parked her in Vanguard base in front of Lady Grey, and after four days of not logging in on the character (because I have been focused on my newly created character from the last patch), I popped on here to find that the timer has pretty much not increased and is nowhere near completion. 

 

And this is not the first time this has happened with Day Jobs.

 

What gives?

Vanguard day job will not award until level 35? I believe. But the bar should progress. Mine did at level 20?  Still 34, with a full bar.

 

But not progressing?  That is real odd.

I did. Just logged the character out. Will see where she is tomorrow.

If you log out next to the Base Portal or the Hospital, you can get progress towards those badges instead of the Vanguard one.  Or even not "next to," the distance those two work at is pretty large. Thus it's important to actually check which bad you're getting before you log out.  This can happen even through walls, as the Day Job check is just distance, and doesn't consider line of sight.

The Day Job check is on login and it checks if your login location is tagged for a Day Job.  Those are volumes set and adjusted by the devs.  If you're in a Day Job volume (normally checked by which is the left-most Day Job indication on your Buff Bar), then the time your Toon was logged out will be credited to the Day Job.  Patroller::Criminal is another separate check done if the Day Job Badge is unearned and if you've accumulated more Patrol Duty time.  As well, the check will credit Day Job Accolade Powers as well.

I occasionally run into Dayjob issues where it turns out I wasn't actually in the DJ area.

 

Sometimes it's because a door is nearby, and when you login, you come out that door.  One that I know is easy to reproduce is the Vault in Pocket D.  If you are inside to the left, you'll pop out from the door in the hall on the otherside of the vault.

 

Occasional surprise dead zones in the graveyard in Striga, but I haven't had that happen for awhile, but I tend to park in the same spot now in my rotations.

 

I haven't run into one in the RWZ, but again, I tend to park myself on a catwalk across from LG towards the portal.

I know from past experience that some places in the game have a spot where two (or more?) day job buff bar icons can simultaneously appear.  The entry to the Vanguard hospital is one of these, having both the Vanguard day job and the Hospital day job simultaneously appear on the buff bar.  A discussion the forums had many years ago seem to suggest both would earn in that spot, but is that still the case, or would it default to one or the other?
