Shieldless “shield defense” (your thoughts?)

I'd be for a "shieldless" shield option. Make the shield just another costume piece, and if I want to shield myself with just an armored up left arm or even say I'm deflecting attacks with my bare arm because it's virtually invulnerable or has an invisible shield, that's fine. Not having a visible shield does not remove the shield set's identity any more than minimalizing the visual effects on invulnerability doesn't change what it is and does.

The only minimal FX option I want for shield defense is an option to remove the blue particle effects all the shield powers have cause they clash horribly with any not blue costume. I'd also accept allowing us to colour those particle effects like other sets can.

 

Removing the shield though, no. It'd defeat the whole point of it being shield defense.

This is kind of interesting. On the one hand, I'm trying to put myself in the OP's shoes, but they don't fit my feet. Unfortunately, and I could certainly be wrong, but it doesn't matter what any of us think, but the issue - as I've understood it - is that the shield limits the utility of a two handed weapon system. 

I'm not saying it can't be done, or shouldn't be done, or should be - but I believe the animation and activations would make it problematic. And, if it's problematic, maybe it's better to work on something else. <shrug> 

Leaving the "can they" and "should they" questions aside, it'd be great for you to get what you want here. But, I'd like to get a horse head in the tailor, too. And it seems like that'd be way easier. Well, more specifically a donkey head. My alt Donkey Hotey is being insistent.

If you try to take away my shield on my crab spider, i will be so mad. My Shield Defense set identity is amazingly important to my Crab Spider

I want to clarify that my idea is NOT removing the shield from shield defense as it is. But rather how people would feel if there was either an armor set that basically was just “shield defense without the shield” or some manner or customization/animation option that would remove it so it could be used with sets like katana.

 

of course I am also imaging some customization option too that move the shield to the upper arm/shoulder but that’s a whole other thing, maybe. I just imagined shield charging becoming a shoulder tackle.
