It's been so long since I've joined a new global channel,  but I'm assuming the chan_join command doesn't actually add the channel to a chat tab,  so that needs to be done as well.

To do that,  right click the tab and choose... edit(?) I think... and then you can add the channel to the list visible on that tab.

After you've done the chan_join, select one of the numbers in the top right of the chat window, if the tab doesn't already have a channel assigned, you should see "add Tab", click that and you can select TankHQ. Or as you mentioned, you can right click on the tab title and select "edit" from there select TankHQ.

Nothing warms your opponent like Fiery Melee.

You can chat in the channel in a couple of ways... the easiest is to click on the "Help" in your chat box, doing so will bring up a list of all channels you can send a message to.  Global Channels included.

The other way is to create a bind to automatically send a message to a channel, I've got a global channel bound this way, you can do it by pasting the following command into your chat:

/bind rshift+enter beginchat /send "TankHQ"

then, whenever you press right shift and enter at the same time, your chat box will automatically be set to send a message to the TankHQ channel.  The nice thing about this method is that it actually saves what channel your chat box is set to and bypasses that to send a message to TankHQ

What this team needs is more Defenders

I was handling content fine up until Veles, from then on I struggled, he blew through my inspires within 30secs.

CoH was created for teaming. It has been made easier to solo over the years.

End Arc Bosses like Veles are meant for teams of at less 3 or 4.

I'm assuming you are set to "Elite Bosses when solo" versus "Arch Villains when solo". At least I think "Elite Bosses when solo is the default"

If you are really having a hard time with a mission, then do something else to level up and the go back and try it again. Police scanner missions are good for this and so are the origin arc missions; talk to a detective to get access to the police scanner.

If you bypassed talking to an origin contact in the basement of City Hall in Atlas Park, you can still go back and talk to them. they won't give you missions, but they will give you access to the next contact in the chain until you reach a origin contact that is your level and they will start giving you mission. Missions from Origin Contacts that match your character's origin always drop enhancements that can slot for your origin.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

@Ironveil Hey, there!  Welcome to the best Comic Book MMO ever made (and possibly the best MMO ever made)!

There are 3 Primary things to do that will help you push past these problems and become comfortable with playing the game.  These are (in order of importance):

1).  Keep playing.  This really is the number one thing, IMO.  When I first started playing CoH, I had the exact same experience as you.  It seemed an incredibly difficult game or maybe just that I was very bad at the game for some reason I couldn't explain.  Neither of those things were true, as it turns out.  Once you understand how the game works and get a good amount of practice playing it, you start to understand how to build an effective character and how to approach combat in a way that best leverages the abilities of that character.

2).  Keep on asking for help (Here, in discord, or from the help channel in-game; all 3 are good sources of assistance) when you need it.  I learned this game primarily thanks to 1) Lots of practice and 2) Assistance from other players.  And that last one brings me to the 3rd thing that will get you over this hurdle...

3). Make liberal use of the GUIDES forum, beginning with this:

These simple QoL tricks really streamlined my experience and made it easier to get a handle on the game.  Hopefully, you will find it equally useful!

The community here is very different from many other MMO's.  We want players that are new to the game to feel comfortable, welcomed, and to grow to enjoy this old game that is still near and dear to our hearts.  If you are a creative person with a vivid imagination, and you love comic books, I think you'll find this game will become something of an obsession for you.

Good luck, and feel free to ask any of us for help, if you get stuck!
