Jawbreaker Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago I understand why they did it back on live in the PVP zones, but now it varies all over. If I log outside of City Hall, for instance, I get the "Disconnecting in 15 seconds" timer, but if I log out inside City Hall, it disconnects immediately. If I log out on the street in Nova Praetoria, it's 10 seconds. Ask me about my City Of Heroes patch problem https://levelzeroems.com/search?q=City of Heroes
aethereal Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago You don't have the timer in places you are guaranteed to be safe. The timer is so that you can't avoid dying by abruptly logging out. 1
Jawbreaker Posted 21 hours ago Author Posted 21 hours ago Hmm. Makes sense, Though I don't know if I'm more likely to die in AP than Nova, per the timer discrepancy. But what do I know? You still get the timer if you're in police stations or universities, for example, despite your only being able to get into them by going through a door that is inaccessible to NPC mobs. I think there should be a sanity check sweep of the various 'indoor' locations to see which ones should be redesignated as 'safe zones' for logging out.
catsi563 Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago My understanding is that the timer is based on the level of public access to the area a ""live area"" pocket D atlas near libs the university etc etc is a live area where everyone has access to and comes and goes and does stuff so if someone just afks there it creates server lag taking up resources used for active players and thus the game kicks them after a certain time frame until theyre ready to go live again ""Closed areas"" are instanced maps like missions and flashpoints and superbases etc that only the player and their teammates have access to at any one time and thus dont take as much resource wise and a player can remain safely tucked away inside one add in as Aethereal said that for the most part you are safe in those zones unless baddies are about and the game can afford to let you afk for a bit as its much less of a priority My Dear you deserve the services of a great wizard but youll have to settle for the aid of a second rate pick pocket ~Schmendrick So you mean you'll put down your rock, and I'll put down my sword; and we'll try and kill each other like civilized people?

What this team needs is more Defenders

lemming Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago There's also a modifier on the timer based on powers used.
