Synapse has never been the best TF around and in an age where entitlement brings a requirement for instant gratification it's more symptom than cause.

People don't want to do the work to get the rewards and there's the fundamental issue.

90 minutes. That's all it's realistically gonna take to get that badge. When people are willing to play for two or three hours in a session that's peanuts. Do it when it's the WST and you can get about 6 in a week if you really need to. If you're a badge completist that's a very small price to pay. If you're not into badges or this particular TF, then don't do it, problem solved.

There is an attitude that's quite prevalent in this game: Give me all the things but don't make me work for them. It comes from a small, lazy but very vocal segement of the community and it annoys the hell out of me.

TL;DR - We have our game against all the odds and a little bit of effort to get something you want should never be a cause for complaint.

Eh, sometimes- yes.  But in some cases, the TF is just boring, so you don't want to spend 30 minutes (much less 90), doing it.  If the game play isn't fun, what's the point?  MSR is my pet peeve, in this regard, but Synapse is pretty close behind.

Of course, the easy way to get around that kind of tedium for the purpose of getting your passive accolades, is to use Null the Gull.  If the OP doesn't want to do that, I think they're just gonna have to suck it up (not that I disagree that synapse could use some tweaking to make it less tedious, mind you). 🤷‍♂️

That's your opinion.

Sure, you and some might not like it - MSR is usually very well supported and Synapse gets run regularly, so that's a "you" problem not a game problem.

My wider point is that there is content that gives a reward. If you don't want to do the content, don't expect to get the reward. If you aren't prepared to put any time and effort in, why should you get the benefits that such time and effort gives anyone else who does play it?

I learned early on that chemistry is just like cooking. From there I worked out that a mixture of Barium, Carbon and Nitrogen between two slices of bread gives you a delicious BaCoN sandwich

Yep.  It's just my opinion.  I never claimed it was objective fact.  If it came off that way, it wasn't my intention.

As to MSR:  You're right.  It's very popular.  Many people seem to enjoy it.  I don't view MSR as a problem (even though I personally find it very boring and don't enjoy it) and never suggested that it was a problem (other than the problem specific only to me- well, and anyone that feels the same way I do, I guess- which is that it bores me.  I avoid that problem by simply not joining MSR's, though.  So... yeah, I guess it's not even actually a problem for me, any more)..

As to your wider point, I agree.  If you don't don't like certain content, why waste your time doing it for the reward?  I do think it's worth the reward, if you use the shortcuts, like alignment switching and so forth.  But if you don't want to do that, you can simply to choose not to chase the reward and move on with your life.

There were many things in the original game that existed simply to make things take longer (e.g., having to switch train stations). Removing that stuff makes the game more fun. I can't imagine anyone would advocate to return to the days of switching trains in steel canyon. The first four Kill All Clockwork missions in Synapse, are to me, a clear example of "Let's make things take longer" rather than "let's make a fun engaging Task Force".
