would love to see the imps go back to live days where you could spawn randomly between the 3 to 5 of them, but to avoid being overpowered retain the limit to 5., unlike the old days where there was no limit.

You're conflating two separate changes. The number of imps summoned was once variable (2-5) and was changed to always summon 3 in Issue 5 (August 2005). In the same issue they eliminated the stacking of controller pets (which allowed you to have multiple sets out) but increased their duration to be essentially permanent.

 

BTW, the -1 level shift wasn't instituted until December 2006.

   Yep, Fire Imps need the level penalty removed + damage slightly adjusted to compensate + Containment bonus damage increased to account for the DoT (it is currently too low on Controllers).

Well, if you are dead set against balance, why not replace fire imps with a summonable Baphomet?  Since there is only one they have no justification to make it at -1 level to you, and that should amp up your damage nicely.

Gremlins previously spawned at -1 and were changed to +0 in i28p2.

And while we're at it, let's go back to the Live days when your Controller's pets would die every time you went up or down an elevator, so that you'd have to wait for the summon to recharge.   😝
