Greenbone Posted Friday at 12:49 AM Posted Friday at 12:49 AM (edited) Hi all. I've played most powersets (except the newer ones) and all ATs in the game since Issue 1 and was hoping to roll a Corruptor with lots of AOE when I'm in the mood to do a bit more damage than my Trollers. Yeah, I know, I know, my Trollers are already gods. I just like seeing the numbers fly as Scourge kicks in. Call me shallow. After going through this forum and all the min-max choices, I am considering Electric / Traps, mostly for personal playstyle with a bit of safety thrown in. I know Fire is the obvious choice here, but played plenty of those. I'm primarily a solo player. Don't need to dominate leaderboards or prove my spreadsheet is better than someone else's. Just want a bit of fun. So does anyone have experience with this combo? Thanks as always! Edited Saturday at 03:33 AM by Greenbone Correction
evetsleep Posted Friday at 02:55 AM Posted Friday at 02:55 AM I personally don't think traps is going to meet your definition of safety in my opinion. It's fine for what it is but because of the lack of the heel I don't think that it'll do or be as safe as you might want to be without a lot of investment later on. There's a much easier learning curve with electric / dark where you get lots of the numbers from electric but also the safety that you get from dark. Of course if you really want the right numbers fire dark is an old classic space but electric slash dark works just as well. That's just my two cents if I had to choose. Don't get me wrong I like traps specifically on controllers but for defenders or corruptors I prefer personally something like dark for a case like this. Just let me think about. You can absolutely make electric traps work if that's what's fun for you because in the end.. concept is King.

It just doesn't have AOE damage that will add to the same from Electric. We all know how to stay safe, so it's not just about that. Just want to tear up rooms with multiple AOEs and Scourge. 🙂
MonteCarla Posted Friday at 08:48 AM Posted Friday at 08:48 AM /Time provides a solid +Defence boost and a self-heal for your safety, and an AoE -Res -Def that can take the Achilles Heel proc for more -Res plus some +Rech for more Aim and nuking. I played a Time/Fire Defender and she was godly. You're planning to avoid Fire, but I imagine an Ice/Time Corrupter could be a lot of fun too. 1 1 The Badass Empath Guide Modern Force Fields Guide The Rich Alt's Guide to Perma-Dom Resistances for Brutes Proc Bombing for Defenders

Since @Greenbone is looking at electric, time actually would be pretty decent secondary too since to use short circuit you need to be in melee and time offers close range protection and a heal (among the other goodies it offers). Electric/time, like dark, offers a lot of safety so electric can do it's thing. Don't actually think I have one in my stable now that I think about it...
Uun Posted Friday at 03:47 PM Posted Friday at 03:47 PM /TA can also be played with a great deal of safety (due to Flash Arrow) and pairs well with any of the primaries with ranged nukes. Most people don't equate /Kin with safety, but I have an Ice/Kin that I really enjoy. Fulcrum Shift + Blizzard never gets old. If you're looking for something different, try Storm/Storm. Rather than burst damage, it's more about setting up kill zones. Despite not having a self-heal, it's surprisingly safe. 1 Uuniverse
Greenbone Posted Saturday at 01:04 AM Author Posted Saturday at 01:04 AM Okay. Made this guy. I think he's gonna be fun. Will likely take the healing power pool for the self heal and ally rez. But so far, loving caltrops (safety) which has always been one of my favorites in the game (like glue arrow). Caltrops does mini AOE, as does a bunch of the other /traps powers to stack with my primary AOEs (don't have ball lightning yet). So though maybe not the min-max king, I am gonna like the visuals. That's one thing that doesn't blow me away about /kin or /time or those. I'm visual that way. Thanks for the advice. I did run all through Mids to see what fit my playstyle best. 1 1
evetsleep Posted Saturday at 10:46 AM Posted Saturday at 10:46 AM (edited) In the end what is fun is most important and concept is King. I have a ton of toons in my stable that aren't min-max'ers but concept/fun ones and those are some of my favorites. Edited Saturday at 02:05 PM by evetsleep 1
Psyonico Posted Monday at 02:55 AM Posted Monday at 02:55 AM If your goal is to abuse scourge then Ice Blast is the way to go. Both Ice Storm and Blizzard will have a chance to proc scourge on every tick. 1 What this team needs is more Defenders

WuTang Posted yesterday at 11:48 AM Posted yesterday at 11:48 AM (edited) I think anything Corruptor is great, at least so far. My new fav is EB/Kin AOE wise, Storm/Storm is super nasty and extremely safe, Storm Summoning is end-heavy though so be aware. BUT EB/Storm would also be thematically cool and fun to play as well! Psyonico Posted yesterday at 06:44 PM Posted yesterday at 06:44 PM My Storm/Storm is one of my favorite toons. I need to throw her on beta and test out the proposed changes. What this team needs is more Defenders
