Steampunkette Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 So here's my plan! The character I'm playing is meant to be a Fearmonster, essentially. I RP up all her Dark Powers as essentially kind of being Scarecrow like. Just shadowy fear and terror. My main goal with the character is to start a fight with a Fearsome Stare (to slow incoming damage) leap into melee range, and fling off Heart of Darkness to stun everyone. Then go to town with melee and ranged attacks. If something happens that slows her down, she's got her Shadow Field to fill the recharge-gap on Heart of Darkness. As soon as HoD recharges: Hit it again. Just keep killing things in melee while everything is stunned to bits. Umbral Beast and Haunts with near constant uptime supplement my damage, and the build is permadom with near permahasten. I know I won't have perfect accuracy or uptime, but that's why I've got 75% Smash/Lethal and 15ish% defenses. It isn't -great- but if I'm on a team with any kind of defense buff character I become largely unkillable. I -could- swap the Melee Hybrid over to the Assault Hybrid for more damage, but I'm not sure... I think using Melee could be a nice 50% uptime "Nothing seems to kill me" thing... What do y'all think? Cassandra Gothame Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 As someone who rolled a Dark/Savage Dominator all the way to 50, it seems pretty solid. I've gone with Hasten, but reached a state of perma-dom. Although, Feral Charge uses Melee IOs, so you might want to swap that out. I've placed the Winter IO, for a chance to hold, and let me tell you: it is a thing of beauty on Feral Charge. 1 Cassandra Gothame (50+ Dark/Savage Dominator), Roberta Graves (50 Pistol/Arrow Blaster), Bella Gothame (40 Human Warshade)
biostem Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Sorry for the tangent, but I can't seem to find any info on 'Savage Assault' - Do you have any info on the powers and their effects? Thanks!
biostem Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Grab a copy of Pine's it's all laid out there. Problem is I'm on a computer where I can't install any software. My laptop/desktop can access the game proper. I was just looking for some insight while I couldn't get to those other machines. From what I've read, it appears to be a mix of the beast mastery mastermind attacks and savage melee...

Steampunkette Posted July 25, 2019 Author Posted July 25, 2019 Update! I'm level 41 and I've got 1 set and 2 LotG+Def IOs slotted (All attuned 'cause I like having my bonuses when I exemplar). I respecced at 41 to start shifting my slots around to be more balanced between primary and secondary. She deals SO MUCH MORE damage, now. And with 44% Smash/Lethal resistance (I don't have Tough or my Dark Embrace slotted seriously, yet) I survive a hell of a lot better. Feral Charge is ridiculous with it's fast recharge rate, I love it. She just bursts out of the shadows and appears right next to her enemies to tear them up with a 3-Stack Rending Flurry. I particularly love when I'm beyond max distance on my Charge and the NPC I'm targeting comes running at me 'cause when the power goes off I appear behind them like I'm in a Kurosawa film! 1
Echo Night Posted September 9, 2019 Posted September 9, 2019 (edited) Hi all. I've asked @Steampunkette if I can post my build here instead of making another thread about the exact same thing and she graciously said yes. The build is based off of hers so if it isn't good, blame her 🙂 J/k. As this is my very first dom including live, I am not sure on a great many of things and would like some input/advice/critiques from the pros. Obviously, I know to go for perma dom, which I did. Easy enough. Then I tried to go for perma hasten, which I'm close to. I'm level 47 now and have been collecting the easy pieces as I go, like the numina, miracle, perf shf, panacea and so forth, but the main issue I have, is that there just seems to be too many powers to use. I've almost always played a melee type character so it was way easier to pick and choose from the list. But do I need all of the powers for end game content? End usage was a concern as a melee because of all the toggles (I mained a MA/DA scrapper, yeesh,) so I thought I'd also have end issues with a dom as well. Which is why I'm light on the toggles. No tough, weave or ancillary/epic shield (do most doms take these?). I figured I'd supplant the lack of res/def toggles with RoP and LM. I pop both, hit the fear, then leap in and wreck things. When LM (LM isn't perma yet) expires I back out at range until the mobs are all dead. RoP's cool down forces me to stay mostly at range until it's back up. The FF procs really speed this up. As of now, w/o all of the sets, end and survivability isn't an issue at +1/2 but I know the higher I go and with the end game looming, will be different. My attack chain is as follows - Dark Grasp on the highest tiered mob, Fearsome Stare the rest, send in the shades, Feral Charge, Heart of Darkness, maybe Shadow Field if not all got stunned, then build up stacks of Blood Frenzy ending with Rending Flurry. Dark Grasp is on auto at this point focusing on the highest tiered mob if it's still alive. Swarm, (when I remember to use it) is also focused on the high guy for the -def. So, before I go spend millions or waste merits, how's this look? Mercurias Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 I like this setup! I have a Dark/Martial that plays in melee as well as range, and a Dark/Dark who plays entirely at range, so seeing a melee-based character is really cool!

Echo Night Posted September 14, 2019 Posted September 14, 2019 (edited) Updated proposed build. Was able to get more defense to bring melee and ranged up over 20% and Aoe near 20% with Link Minds perma. I found myself not using Posses anymore so I dropped it in favour of Maneuvers. Got a bit more recharge to help get Spot Prey perma as well as hasten if only just. With Agility fully fleshed out, they both easily become perma. Heart of Darkness and Haunt are also perma but barely. So far I have a complete Heca set, 2 pieces from Armageddon, a full set of Call to Arms in Umbra, 3 of 4 pieces in Fearsome Stare and a bunch of the solo pieces for sustain and recharge. I took Cassandra Goth's advice and slotted the chance for hold proc in Feral Charge and she's right. It is beautiful. Really helps hold down those pesky DA bosses when combined with Grasp and Shadow Field as those basty's are at time's, tough. Also, the recharge procs are firing off pretty regularly, which is another boon. Even w/o all the sets, the build is just wrecking things and fun to play. I won't say I don't die, because I do. But I'm discovering that that's usually because I get into full on domination mode and don't pay attention to my health. Edgar (my Umbra Beast) can also hold his own and even with multiple enemies.
