They changed the values for the -res in cold though didn't they? It might work better as a defender now, I'll have to look at the math. Ideally, you'd have a water/cold and a fire/kin together one using ageless and the other using clarion, you should be able to all the content in the game as a duo incredibly quickly, things would melt. @StriderIV

Absolutely, I love how safe the Water/Cold plays, and it does great against tough targets like AV’s. Slower on mobs though, which I’m sure is where the Fire/Kin thrives haha

Not to my knowledge. Corruptor and defender Sleet currently have the same values (although they shouldn't). Defenders get better values for most other Cold powers.

Ok, so I am experimenting with a new build with a new powerset for my Kintank. Going elec/kin for the shock damage effect, soft end control, and good aoe dmg. I have also found that I can use clarion with repel on if I just use transference occasionally due to the small end transfer mechanic. So, you are all welcome to try this, but know it is a work in progress:

I wouldn't get a travel power with kinetics, but if I had to suggest one I would get super speed because we already need hasten and its  very fast especially now with the 120 mph cap.

So just use run, sprint, and jet pack along with syphon whenever possible?

That is with siphon speed. I often don't take travel powers on my builds because I find sprint+ninja run works just fine.

 

If you want super speed on the cold build just switch out vengeance or benumb

How's this build treating you. I leveled one to 50 but not incarnate yet and it was a good time. I'm too chicken to venture above +1/x8 without Clarion. But the end drain has been surprisingly effective.

The damage "feels" good, at that level, but I'm not a numbers guy. I'll have to try it incarnated (is that a word?) and raise the difficulty.

Yes, I only started playing again a little while ago. Still getting accolades and testing in all the different TFs.

 

This is what I am currently using (I don't find tesla cage to be all that great. Its range to jump is small and it needs to jump 5 times before its damage goes higher than ball lightning).

Appreciate the updates to the build! I lowered some defensive numbers for more casual content still keeping things above the 45 cap. And its excellent, in almost all team content.

Currently testing Seismic/kin

Its very very good aoe dmg. No need for repel because of FF procs in upthrust and meteor and all that knockdown anyway+you get inherent cd reduction for every power used so you get to do a lot of meteors and they hit like a truck. It is VERY endurance heavy though, but we have a 6 slotted transference so we're fine.

Ok, I have been messing around with the seismic/kin compared to fire/kin and the elec/kin.

 

Overall I really like the elec/kin the best for overall content. The -end drain and shock really adds up to make you more tanky when soloing missions at +4x8 (its still difficult and precarious though due to the tag changes and tohit buffs). Its way easier to just have them not attack you because they have no endurance lol. The shock damage adds up too, but its still a bit less than fire. The voltaic sentinel also really helps for soloing AVs and GMs. Then the endurance that you get back from some of the powers also helps you not need to use transference as much. So its just a great power combination for a tank mage.

 

So, yeah the above elec/kin is what I recommend overall. 

 

Note: when testing seismic/kin I found myself hating meteor, its animation time is one thing, but then you need to wait for it to come down as well. This takes like 5 seconds and sometimes I would be stuck in the animation and waiting for the damage and die because of it. The -CD inherent of seismic is very very cool, but seismic is really endurance intensive and meteor bugs me....Gonna try to make it work on a nature/seismic offender instead. 

 

Note 2: You can switch out oppressive gloom for vengeance to get 7.5% more recharge, gloom sucks as a power alone.....but if there are two people on a team with it.....its amazingly fun and 3 people with it is just gravy. So, take it for the lols on a team....if all corruptors take it it'd be hilarious. Dominators and controllers will appreciate you too.
