MadBeetle Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 After playing the game for a little while, each instance getting shorter and shorter between problems, my keyboard on my labtop stops working, when I leave the game, the keyboard is still dead and to top it all off, it takes my computer just about 5-8 minutes every time to end up in a blue screen of death and then unable to shut off the whole way, having me shut it off manually every time. Now, this has happened to me before, yesterday, when playing Age of Wonders 3, but that just happened the once and there were no issue after I restarted my computer. Is it just that my computer cant cope with older games or is there something I can do to fix this issue or is there something far more wrong with my computer? I can play Warframe just fine, did that for hours and no keyboard issue, so I think it might be old software that is the trouble. EDIT: It seems like an OpenGL driver is shut down on my Intel® Graphics 530 card, that´s whats the game tells me, atleast. I have updated my drivers for both of my screen-cards and there is still an issue.
Isit Hotinhere Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Personally, i'd start by putting all your graphics settings to their lowest options and raising them until you find it is a problem. I recently had a frame rate issue (I have a 100hz monitor, but the game was only showing 30) doing the above, in reverse gave me the chance to see what the problem was.
WanderingAries Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Throw up your system specs because if This is tasking the system, then there could be a deeper issue for the future. Zep Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 I remember this happening on live a few times. For me it was a driver issue - reinstalling chipset and other drivers from scratch could help -- or it could be you have a different issue. COH is from before a lot of optimizations entered the DX/OGL world. Further NV/AMD/Intel are not supporting it so no new driver optimizations. The game makes your computer run hot and laptops are more susceptible to overheating. I dont suppose you have an IR camera or meter? Turning down FX settings might help cool things down -if- it is a heat problem. ** Asus TUF x670E Gaming, Ryzen 7950x, AIO Corsair H150i Elite, TridentZ 192GB DDR5 6400, Sapphire 7900XTX, 48" 4K Samsung 3d & 56" 4k UHD, NVME Sabrent Rocket 2TB, MP600 Pro 8tb, MP700 2 TB. MadBeetle Posted July 22, 2019 Author Posted July 22, 2019 Welp, I tried going in and out of the game too, and it seems that one of the issues is, that my graphics-card driver apparantly is being shut down, if I have the issue again, I will take a picture, so I can remember the entire wording. EDIT: It seems like an OpenGL driver is shut down on my Intel® Graphics 530 card, that´s whats the game tells me, atleast. I have updated my drivers for both of my screen-cards and there is still an issue.
Retired Game Master GM Capocollo Posted July 22, 2019 Retired Game Master Posted July 22, 2019 This sounds like a hardware issue. From the symptoms you describe, the video card may be suffering from heat damage or some other kind of mechanical failure.
