Christopher Robin Posted October 31, 2019 Author Posted October 31, 2019 (edited) Here is a side by side comparison for QueenBethari who is working on shading. The idea is if you shade the areas not receiving light or being occluded more rounded shapes will emerge and things will appear less flat. Extra bonus points if you can tell me what direction the light is come from Queen. Edited October 31, 2019 by Christopher Robin 5 1 Like the Costume Creator? Enjoy a challenge? Love to WIN? Christopher Robin Posted November 1, 2019 Author Posted November 1, 2019 (edited) You need to move the word slightly but otherwise correct. I've added two hotspots to make it more obvious and an animation so you can see the changes between the versions repeatedly if you want. Seeing the change happen in a continuous loop may give you some clues about where you want to add your shading for this kind of lighting scenario. Also there are two mistakes, two places I put a shadow where there should be none. I was going to fix them but thought why not leave them in case anyone wants to go hunting. Christopher Robin Posted November 9, 2019 Author Posted November 9, 2019 Thanks for the birthday notes and PM's everyone. Even though it was my birthday I feel like giving something away and I think we have enough people for a contest now. Several people seem to be still be in lurk mode or at least have not introduced themselves so I'll tell you what. Anyone who says hi and a bit about themselves in the welcome thread in the next week I will add their names to a hat and draw one at random to win some gift artz. I may call it early if we get enough up front or I may choose more than one name if there are a lot of responses. So drop your stealth and say sup! 4 Like the Costume Creator? Enjoy a challenge? Christopher Robin Posted November 9, 2019 Author Posted November 9, 2019 Just wanted to give a quick shout out to Healix. Of all the birthday well wishes I received here and elsewhere this was by faaaar the most creative. From me as the little boy from Winnie the Pooh (also Christopher Robin I hear lol) drawing an actual piece from my gallery to the palette & easel cake, campy super hero wall paper and all the shiny balloons, I love it all. Thank you! On 11/8/2019 at 3:04 AM, Healix said: TO WISH YOU A HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 6 1 Like the Costume Creator? Enjoy a challenge? Love to WIN? Christopher Robin Posted November 17, 2019 Author Posted November 17, 2019 Last of the Softbrushing for a while, this was another birthday gift artz from Live. I used to draw a ton of these back in the day... basically anyone who commented on a fairly regular basis in the art forums got one on their day of Uterine Expulsion Remembrance. Here then is Slithershot, a vigilante I believe, who belongs to SenseiBlur. As I understand it she's a gene splicing experiment (part human, part snake) gone awry. 9 Like the Costume Creator? Christopher Robin Posted November 23, 2019 Author Posted November 23, 2019 Another birthday sketch from back on Live, this was for The Masked Shrike. 9 Like the Costume Creator? Enjoy a challenge? Love to WIN? You really should've clicked here before 6pm on Sunday the 18th!
Christopher Robin Posted November 24, 2019 Author Posted November 24, 2019 (edited) And she got an additional present when it was collaboratively colored in turn by Darth Delicious, Bobby Aquitania and Lord Goat. In many ways it's a gift to me as well when people do this so thanks again you guys (and R.I.P. Bobby), I love seeing my stuff get tag-team colored like this. Christopher Robin Posted November 28, 2019 Author Posted November 28, 2019 (edited) Another collab from years past, this was a birthday present for Caemgen. It started out as a quick sketch of about 17 minutes of drawing, 5 of finger smudging and like 3 of adjustments in PS. Here then is his Irish witch of sorts, Fenian. shortly after posting it an artist named Gemma (aka GemArts), who'd colored some of my stuff before, asked if she could color this. Of course I said yes, told her the color scheme and here were her results. I felt I could do more with it so I did some additional tweaking and punch up work and what started out as a quick sketch soon turned into something rather unique. Healix Posted November 29, 2019 Posted November 29, 2019 You know what makes your art come alive for me? You have a talent for REALLY making the eyes alive and full of expression, along with your other talents. 2 Forever grateful to be back in my city!

The eyes are, almost without exception, the first thing that I draw and often an area of focus. Windows of the soul and all that. Thank you kindly Healix. Oh also, though this is my busy season and I don't have a whole lot of consecutive spare time for drawing, playing the game or posting as often I'd like, while I am yet awaiting Barbarette's refs I found myself with a half hour free while running Memtest86 today and thought I would try a quick sketch. Here then is Queen Bethari's Plague of Frogs themed character Pollywog. I wasn't really too sure how much of her is human and how much is ranine so I decided to ribb-it and go all in on her froggy-er aspects. Hopefully that decision didn't bog me down too much. About 8 minutes of of drawing 15 minutes of crosshatching and 2-3 minutes of finger smudging. Ref pic here. Merry Me-Mas QB and thanks for all the likes, comments, costumes and written content you are creating for our enjoyment. So glad you are here. I'm curious, is she supposed to have human bits (fingers and toes) or froggy bits? I was guessing. Also does she have a backstory for how she became sentient? Her backstory goes something like this: A mad scientist found the sentient spells that caused the Ten Plagues. The scientist bonded these spells to physical bodies. I hope that makes some sense. 😁 1
Christopher Robin Posted December 28, 2019 Author Posted December 28, 2019 It does and noted. Still not a whole lot of time for art but I do have a Work in Progress that I chipping away at. I have a sketch and pose that I like so I'm going to start working on it. I'll post more as it progresses. 7 Like the Costume Creator? Enjoy a challenge? Love to WIN?
