UPDATE:

 

I've been experimenting and tweaking this build for a while. I've made a number of changes. The build is meant to be solo, exemplar friendly and I'm pretty happy with it. I've solo'd some AVs with it (although not quite enough DPS for some of the healing AVs) and solo'd all the DA content  at +3x8 or +4x8. Works great in iTrials.

 

Description:

Perma Mind-Link

Over Soft-Capped defense to all positions (Melee 57%, ranged 52%, aoe 48.5%)

Double Maneuvers, Double Assault

 

Melee Single Target Chain:

Follow-Up->Lunge->Dominate->Subdue

This is a non-standard combination melee/ranged single target chain that spams a hold and an immobilize.  I got a time of 3:08 for 332 DPS on Rikti Pylon with Incarnates (no Lore), and time of 4:20 for 275 DPS without incarnates. The chain was a little too end hungry though, for both I needed a bit more end recovery to attack non-stop. Without any additional end source, I got 3:58 for 288 DPS with incarnates (no lore). 

I used a claws-only chain before, but this one was the perfect balance to me of damage with utility (ranged hold and immobilize). Notable, Dominate is non-positional so it hits some tricky enemies (like Paragon Protectors in their Moment of Glory)

 

Ranged Single Target Chain:

Dominate->Gloom->Subdue

Less DPS than melee chain, but fully ranged. Mid's estimates 178 DPS.

 

Area of Effect:

Aim+ Psychic Wail will clear a spawn easily every 45 seconds. Dark Obliteration is the best damaging aoe (both size and dpa), Psionic Tornado is great mitigation (knockup, fear/-dmg proc) and spin does solid damage for a small area. 

 

Survival:

Between Confuse with the Contagious Confusion proc and Aura of Confusion, Psionic tornado and soft-capped defense to all positions, there is more than enough mitigation to handle alpha strikes. The biggest concerns are defense debuffs and multiple simultaneous hits (especially big hits with DoTs). To deal with defense debuffs I keep the defense levels above softcap as a buffer, The interesting thing about the Widow is the scaling damage resistance as your health drops. I decided instead of going the Tough/Weave route I would lean in to the scaling damage resists for anything after the first hit. I've got the preventive medicine +absorb proc, reactive defenses scaling resist and some small resist boosts. Below 10% health my resistances are capped (Psi is almost capped always).  As well I've built a bit more +HP to help with any big first hits. 

 

Comments:

TT: Leadership is good for the team but just not worthwhile enough for me. My acuracy and to-hit with Mind-Link are sufficient, and for Arachnos or others I just pop a yellow.

Total Domination I didn't use very often. It's worthwhile to swap in if you want the extra mitigation.

Touch of death proc in followup  can be swapped for Kinetic chance for knockdown proc for some extra mitigation.

Telekinetic blast is really just for the occasional time I might want to knockback something dangerous, and because I had to keep an early attack power pick after I dropped Swipe and Strike.

I never switch to Night Widow anymore. The only power I want from it is Slash, and I lose so much to get it that I don't bother.

This toon destroyed my alt-itis. I love it.

I'm open to feedback, I'm always tweaking my build.

Original Post:

Here is the build I've been using on my Fortunata. Originally I was ranged only Fortunata and my second build was a Night Widow, both built for perma mind-link. But I wasn't happy with the ranged damage of the Fort, and I decided to try a claws Fortunata. Here are two builds: My current purple'd IO build (expensive) and the build I used before it (less expensive). Hoping this helps anyone interested and also always interested in feedback on how I could improve. I did have Psionic Tornado and TK Blast before and had the Force Feedback Proc in them but I have enough recharge with my purple build that I stopped using them (I have better damaging attack options elsewhere, and not too worried about the mitigation benefits). There's a couple small changes between the builds. I'm also debating about dropping Vengeance, I don't end up using it very much.

Have you tried Dominate with 4 procs, damage IO and a hami damage/accuracy. To me it’s by far the hardest single target you can get.

 

I have zero melee attacks on fort and went proc route.  I fit in tough, weave and aid self because a plus four boss can nearly one shot you.   Some sacrifices had to be made mostly in my ST chain.  Only use dominate and Tk blast so have to use AOE to round out which isn’t ideal but i prefer to live so can kill.

That is a good slotting for damage from Dominate, but I mostly just use it for runners and like the set bonuses. I did have no melee attacks before with lots of procs but the damage just doesn't compare to the melee damage, and I don't have cones so no need to be ranged. Yeah having only defense has been one of the biggest problems, I haven't tried a build with tough yet, I would like to fit it in. I did have Aid Self but found that anytime I really needed it I was already getting hit or DoT'd and it would get interrupted, so I just try to have greens ready now. You haven't had that problem? I don't think I have room for tough and aid self (2 powers each), which do you find more beneficial?

I suggest you try to fit tough and weave in there, and then build up your s/l resists and endurance management. You could afford to drop Vengeance (rarely ever useful), TT:Leadership(Mind Link and Follow Up give ToHit) and Combat Jumping (you have more than enough defense once you get Weave).

This is my build with a couple of minor changes as well mids version is old.  Must have two IDs I am wonderdad above.

 

You dont need a lot of attacks with high recharge rate.   I find melee attacks and follow up worthless.  When situation gets sticky I use range to save my butt.  I am able to solo +3s with this since have overall level shift.   I am VET level 25 I think so have more incarnates just put a couple.

I have zero melee attacks on fort and went proc route.  I fit in tough, weave and aid self because a plus four boss can nearly one shot you.   Some sacrifices had to be made mostly in my ST chain.  Only use dominate and Tk blast so have to use AOE to round out which isn’t ideal but i prefer to live so can kill.

Oh definitely, I should have mentioned I was just going through bank missions to get Invader and the temps and was set to 0.  So I'm not trying to oversell it, but certainly Dominate wouldn't be 1-shotting even cons without the procs.  This character's still in its first hour of actually being played, so I have't cranked up to +4 yet for anything, or even +3.

+4 only if you got a plus 3 level shit in incarnate and then maybe.  A snipe can probably do a plus 2 if you get lucky with the procs.  Or if you have a nice damage boost going.

Holds with procs are now the ST damage kings along with snipe.  I play several corr and defenders and procs have total changed the game for them.  Dip into the epic pool for dominate on those ATs and it hits like a mac truck.  Try the dominator or controller jolting chain or whatever its called in the electric primary it hits for insane damage.

 

Forts are a good proc build as well.   Forget the melee attacks waste of time dominate will hit much harder and you can do it safely from range.      The build above in Aneas posts is mine.  I need to make some changes to it as I overslotted some defensive things, etc.  But overall it plays pretty well as is.  I have an old version of mids so its not exact.

 

If you like proc monsters a storm/water defender is pretty dam good and pretty much a tank to.  Also did a proc'd out electric/shield stalker and its a beast.

Do you find youre giving up survivability for proc slotted attacks or do u even notice much? What level setting do you typcally run, solo? I ask cause i created a fort with the intention of psi attacks but found in pines my builds coming out "better" using full set bonuses. Im currently running the melee chain (and PW of course) with dom as a hold, but so badly want more psi.

 

Im easily running +4/x4 but can go x8 much slower cause of bosses and the occasional death but so SO much fun when i make it through... Even with the melee. ...i found slotting def, rch, hp, and res made the build feel pretty tanky at half health with the scaling resist... 

 

I guess I'm wide eyed for more details is all 0.0. Please and thank you 💜

You will get better bonuses for sure not using procs.  Im trading off bonuses for more damage.

Thanks for replying. I went ahead and did a respec into psi today. I only went half way proc route to keep most of my set bonus. While pines says my psi dps is ~200 lower than my melee build I'm not noticing much of a difference in common missions. Although my single target damage is slightly lower my aoe consisting of tornado and obliteration which both are 15ft radius vs 8ft of spin - coming to what feels to be higher aoe damage overal. The difference in speed isn't far enough apart to take a "melee only, or, psi only" mindframe but its even more fun than i previously expressed. Thank you again for the share, otherwise i wouldn't have gotten around to shaking things up.

I've been quiet because I've been experimenting based on all the discussion (also I went on vacation). Anyways, I dropped combat jumping, tt:assault, psi tornado (poor dmg, don't need the FF proc that much) and vengeance but kept tt:leadership. I got boxing, tough, injection and aid self. I've been able to use aid self enough to justify having it. I tried weave but dropped it... I find that below incarnate level I'm fine with ~50% positional defenses (~60% for melee) and with incarnate abilities I reach the magic 59%. Survivability is much better and I'm also being a bit more tactical with my use of Aura of Confusion and Total Domination. I tried cutting dominate out and got frustrated with having no ranged ST. I'm currently experimenting with a hybrid Dominate/Followup/Lunge chain (all 6 slotted, dominate with procs similar to Hedgefunds setup but with a chance for build up proc) with Strike as an occasional filler and TK Blast (instead of Swipe) 2 slotted with overwhelming kb>kd and ff recharge. Looks promising for solid ST DPS with a couple ranged attacks.

Glad you validated use of tough and aid self as worked well for me.  Dominate is my ST bread and butter I don’t see anything outdoing it with procs and it also is at range which means can always use it when ready.  I do have a bit of St hole in my build that I have to fill with an AoE but I’m fine with it.  Maybe I could drop weave for another ST attack.  Not a bad idea but then need free up a few more slots as well.   You make a good point Def is already super high.
