  1. Welcome the game and badging!! Your badge menu displays trackers and progress bars for a lot of badges. There are descriptions of what you need to do to get them. But you will need to do some research out of the game to find the ones that don't automatically appear as a suggested item to complete. So, explore the wiki for that. There are several 3rd party badge trackers out there. I prefer "Badger": https://n15g.github.io/badger/. But you'll have to manually check them off as you go. And it too gives descriptions for what you need to do to get them. There is another tracker that you can download and will read your game and record your badge when you earn it... you'll have to search these forums for it. Can't remember the name or link to it. Also, downloading the Vidiotmaps map-pack is super useful for finding all the exploration badges and plaques for the history badges. In the Tools section of the forums, find the City Modder tool and download it and you can install the Vidiot map-pack. That should get you started. Some badges are easy, and some are quite hard and may seem downright impossible, but they are all obtainable on all ATs. Some ATs will have an easier time at some and difficult at others and vice versa for different ATs. Look through the forums here for tips and tricks and of course, you can always ask here or in-game for help. There is the global in-game chat channel: "TorchebearerBadges" that is open to the public to join (even if you're not playing on Torchbearer server) and you can ask questions there. People are super helpful. We love our badges and badging! Good luck!
  2. i also like a single end redux in them so they do not run out of end on long fights and just use their low level attacks because they're out of end. If you have other means of giving them endurance, this may not be an issue. And if you use IO sets, there is usually some end redux involved as well, so not not much of an issue there either. But for straight basic SO slotting, I would.
  3. You put this in the RP section of the forums, so your data will be biased. You'll get mostly RP'ers who frequent here which will sway your final tally to say "yes" mostly. Most people who do not RP do not even look at this section and wouldn't even see your post to vote "no" - so you're not going to capture accurate data from them, and thus not get a true comparison. But if all you want is to capture who frequents this section and RPs... you're all good. But just wanted to warn you in case not. 🙂
  4. Eden Trial needs boosted. It used to be you could skip the walls and switch to a leader that was 50 and fight grey mobs. It was sped to farm the merits and Titan-Os. These things have been fixed, so a boost from the 7 merits currently would be nice. I can't recall if the GMs in the trial give merits too or not. I think they did at one point but no longer? Been so long since I've run it. I know it's the WST this week - hopefully I can find a team that will want to run it AND actually kill the GMs, which are mostly skipped/ignored. But if they give merits, maybe more people would fight them too.
  5. Jason Maxwell is an injured NPC lying on the ground in the very first room of the map. As soon as you zone, in, you can see him lying there. Pic....
  6. I have both of these powers and tested them... they are working correctly. Everything that is -1 in level or higher (no matter rank: min, lt, or boss) would KD. Anything -2 or lower (no matter rank) would KB, which is normal. As stated above by others, your KD must be stacking with something else to make it KB. (KD is just another name for very low KB... so the more you stack, the more KB there is.)
  7. For any of those out there who are game sound mod gurus (which I am not)... I would love and be greatly appreciative if anyone has or can make 2 mods: 1. Back on live, you could select which theme to always display upon logging in character selection screen, character creation screen, and costume editor: CoH, COV, or Going Rogue. I love the Praetorian/Going Rogue music and theme and would at least love to have that always play at character selection, creation, and during costume editing. I have the launcher GUI "extra launch parameters" setting using "-uiskin 2" which gives the yellow Going Rogue login screen and Praetoria theme music when launching the game - this is perfect! But when I log out of a Hero, I get the COH music and logging out a villain, I get the CoV music.... Can anyone make a mod so that the Going Rogue/Praetorian theme music always plays no matter who I log out and during character creation/costume editing?? 2. I would REALLY love the Symphony sound effects for Sonic Blast or at least something other than what is currently offered in the modder. All the existing Sonic Blast sound mods are for ghostly/banshee types. I have an angelic character and the Symphony sounds would be perfect (I always thought Sonic should have the Symphony sounds as an alt option anyway). Is there anyone out there that can make this type of mod or at least come up with something more "angelic" and less ghostly/demonic?? Thanks in advance for any help here.
  8. HI, I am not a proc master by any means - I don't believe in dumping a ton of procs in a power to sacrifice set bonuses, although, I know people do it and are successful with it. ...It's just not my thing and don't feel like you HAVE to proc up your powers either because you've read some awesome posts. ...you'll still do fine in the game. With that... No, it is NOT crucial to completely proc up your powers on a Blaster, but adding in one from a set or a second from another if you can afford the slot, can be good. As a Blaster, you're generally chasing Def and Rech set bonuses which require 5-6 slots, that can allow for a proc from the set you're using, and maybe room for another proc outside the set if you have the extra slot available. To me, more Def and Rech is worth more than dumping a ton of procs in a power. To me, must haves are: Panacea (preferably) or Numina's Preventative Medicine's +Absorb Performance Shifter +End a single KB Protection (Karma or Steadfast Prot or Blessing of Zephyr) - more is overkill on a blaster. Both +Def IOs: Gladiator's Armor and Steadfast Protection Both Shield Wall +Resist IO and Reactive Defenses Scaling Resistance As many as you can (up to 5 max) Luck of the Gamble Def/+Global Rech Unbreakable Guard +Max HPs Gaussian's +Build Up (generally in Aim) If I take Bonfire from Flame Epic, then I always use an Overwhelming Force KB>KD proc. (These probably weren't the type of procs you were thinking when you asked the question, but to me, these are the "must haves" for all characters - damage and debufff procs are added to taste preferences.) The Above procs mostly, if you slot it you get the bonus even if the power isn't clicked, except #10 where it affects only that power it's slotted into. For other types of procs (like damage or debuff procs), the longer the recharge, the greater the chance it will proc (so less likely in your T1 or T2 powers). AOEs also have a great chance to proc on at least one or more foes as well. So, those are your target powers for Procs: longer Rech and AOEs. Rain powers, Caltrops, Hot Feet, and etc have a chance to proc upon casting and then every 10 secs after until the power stops - so "meh" in those. But with that, I have chance to KD in Caltrops and it's surpsing how often foes fall down in them - it's hilarious.
  9. Of course you're bored, you're not playing the game. You're power-leveling and skipping all the content - and missing out on a whole lot. The game was designed to slot enhancements as you go. So, yes, it is viable to slot enhancements as soon as you start/have enough inf to pay for them (which I know isn't a problem for you), and keep slotting them up as you play content and level to 50. Since you have the inf... Start with SOs and click the Upgrade button when you level up and continue slotting more SOs. As early as level 7, you can slot some IO set pieces, but mostly just keep slotting SOs until you start getting up in levels and adding in more IO sets. around 22-27, go completely IOs (sets and generics as needed). Use the attuned IO sets and they'll level up with you too. Then replace any at lvl 50 that you want to boost.
  10. "Best" is subjective. Alphas are to help fill in holes and/or enhance what you've already got by adding a "virtual" enhancement on each of your powers. Many will state Musculature Core is the best and one-and-only to get because of the 45% damage buff. You're a Blaster, you already do lots of damage, so while it is great to eke out more, don't feel like you HAVE to pick this. If you're still having endurance issues (likely not on a Blaster) or survivability issues, then perhaps you may want to go Agility for the extra +Def to get you to the softcaps you are chasing or the +Rech for faster powers (and +movement speed in Radial if you skipped a travel power and are relying on Ninja/Athletic run). Personally, I like Alphas that I can get use from three or more buffs out of it. My Ice/Fire/Fire blaster uses Intuition Radial: +Dmg, +Hold, +Range, +ToHit Debuff, + Def Debuff, +Slow. That is 6 out of 6 buffs I can use! I am far better served with this than Musculature Core. For Water/Temporal... Intuition Radial would also serve you very well as many of your attacks have a -Def and slow component, you have a power that could use the -to hit as well, and you also may have the hold, and of course, the +Dmg and +Rng are always useful to a blaster. Or perhaps you want more accuracy and to enhance Dehydrate's heal, so Vigor Core may be useful? Again, Agility for more defense? I suggest looking at your build to see what your powers can do, and then determine what you want to enhance, and go for that. You can also make multiple Alphas and switch them up depending on the content you're playing too. Here's a chart to help you look at and compare Alphas with the % buff they give and for what....
  11. It's fine if you want to just single target attack and only focus on +Def for yourself. I'm just saying, you should look at another AT instead of a Corruptor for your playstyle and what you want to do. With a Blaster, you can get the same survivability and do more damage. With the Sentinel, you'll have an easier time with survivability and mez protection and still do good damage. Building a gimped Corruptor build like this only makes your life harder and your teammates' lives harder when you decide to team. I say "gimped" because when you do team, people will be upset / disappointed / ticked off that you skipped the 2 main shield powers that gives them the most defense over those big bubbles and maneuvers. People see a bubble Corruptor (or Defender) on their team and they expect they'll get shields. And when they don't, it's a let down and some people will be vocal about it, kick you from team, or etc. I'm just suggesting to save yourself some grief and aggravation on 2 fronts: 1) By switching to an AT that suits your playstyle better, you will potentially do more damage and have an easier time getting the defenses you want. ...and 2), you won't potentially piss off any teammates you might have and have to deal with whatever gripes they may spout. Otherwise, good luck!
  12. What are you trying to do here? How do you envision your role on a team? You've taken no shields to protect your team with and have clearly stated you care more about yourself than them - so why bother making a Corruptor to begin with? You've taken no AOEs, so you just want to stand in the back and single target damage some foes at range and maybe knock them back? If that is all you want to do and you only took FF for the +Def for yourself... then switch to a Blaster - you can get the same personal +def/survivability and then do more damage as you sit in the back picking off foes - and your team won't hate you for not giving them shields. Or, you could make a Sentinel and have your mez protection and armor and still shoot things doing good damage. Just the description of your build alone tells me you don't really want to play a Corruptor.
  13. Blasters can built to be in melee and survive - they're called "Blappers." Blaster-turned-Scrapper. Your secondary power set helps determine whether you're suited for melee or not (look to /Fire, /Mental, /Sonic /Atomic, etc). You will also generally get melee attacks to add in with your ranged attacks and you SHOULD use your ranged attacks (even Fireball) at point blank range. Many Blasters can be built as PBAOE juggernauts. Blaster's melee powers are some of the hardest hitting powers too. AR is not a good set to use in Melee on any AT due to all the cones it has. All other Primary Blast sets are well suited - Dark a little less so due to multiple cones as well, but not ass bad as AR. Sentinels can be made to be in melee range too, but you will be locked into using only ranged powers, including your Targeted AOEs (ie "Fireball" type power) in melee range. I would suggest making a Blapper or Scrapper... or be ready to "fling fireballs" in melee range with your Sentinel.
  14. I channeling my inner Snarky. 😄
  15. Can we not end this thread yet? Prestige isn't coming back. Not in the way it was or in a new iteration. Full stop. Period. No need to argue it anymore. There is no simple "turn it back on without it affecting base stuff." It would require a hefty redesign/fix. And creating something new also takes a LOT of effort - and none of this is a priority for our small volunteer Dev team. We need more important things, like content! Which I am SO excited for in the upcoming issue. Implementing a measuring stick so certain people can compare their "prowess" is not what is needed in the game.
  16. If you remain at max range, it is possible to pick off mobs one-by-one without aggroing the whole mob if the other mobs are not facing or can see the one you've killed. So if Mob #1's back is to Mob#2... you can kill Mob#2 without Mob#1 noticing and aggroing. So, your stealthiness may have been suppressed as normal, but you were still far enough away and the Mob may not have witnessed or "heard" his fallen brother/sister.
  17. It isn't frowned upon like it was back in the day. But yes, there still is a loss of XP/Inf from confused mobs fighting each other. I think there were improvements to this at one time to lessen the loss. But speed is what most people seem to care about these days. Basically, confusion powers are such a strong control mechanism mitigating all incoming damage, mobs are then easily wiped out quickly, and the loss in XP/Inf is negligible. Quickly moving onto the next mob or the end objective seems to outweigh the loss of any XP/Inf so people can get next thing/reward.
  18. I've seen in-game chat where people have stated.... "It's a 20 year old game... copyright infringement doesn't matter any more" and they state they'll keep creating their DC/Marvel clones because the game is "old" and it doesn't matter anymore. It's time like this that it *IS* up to the community to step up and tell them "no." Tell them they will be reported, and don't be surprised when a GM comes-a-knocking' with the "Generic" hammer.
  19. All of this right here turns your "measurement" into a currency - you earn enough and you get something. This completely is opposite of your opening statement saying it should just measure the amount of X a group earns. Once you reward for a milestone, it becomes "currency" and we're back to the problem of smaller SGs being at the disadvantage, and blah, blah, blah. Your post was going well until you stated all this. 😄 REGARDING BADGES..... Everyone should remember.... the SG badges never counted towards your total badge count - they were on a separate tab and were for primarily unlocking base items. And if you left your SG, those badges didn't go with you. And joining a new SG, you could gain or lose badges compared to your former SG depending on what the people in the new SG has accomplished. So, even if new SG badges are awarded now, and even though they might not unlock base items - they will still be tied to your SG - NOT YOU. If you leave the SG, you would lose those badges even though you helped earn them. So... the only point to having them would be as what I think the OP wants, and that is to have a tracker for accomplishing certain things as a group. I am fine with that.
  20. This thread should be titled "Mad Sellers" instead of "Crafters".... I craft a TON, but give them to the SG, alts, and yes, sell some. So, while my "selling" stats on the City Terminals are low comparatively, my actual crafting stats would be far higher.
  21. Thanks for catching this here in this thread. While I didn't create the map you are referencing, I did create new maps and posted them on another thread in the Badges section where someone else had inquired. I have these two locations on the map too. 🙂 But this is great to cross-reference here. All can see below for the updated maps.... Let me know if you find any more spawn points!
  22. What little good was with the Prestige system is completely outweighed by all the bad. There is NO WAY to turn on earning Prestige without bringing back the bad. Small, solo, and casual SGs will always be at a disadvantage. As @Rudra has stated, Prestige is a currency. What do we spend it on? If stuff (not talking base items as that is NOT in OP's plan), then again, Larger SGs have all the advantage and smaller ones have none. And if prestige is spent on nothing, then why have it? Just for ranking and boasting you're the top SG earning Prestige? What does that actually do then? Nothing, except give a few people some arrogance while everyone else secretly hates them. Again... MORE bad comes from Prestige than good. IF you want goals for SGs to achieve and earn badges - then how about "Complete X while in SG mode"? No Prestige... just badges with requirements of the player being in SG mode - and they would have to be requirements that even Small/Solo SGs could earn as well, maybe slower, but possible. This type of reward is fine... but turning on the Prestige currency system - absolutely not.
  23. I get the reasoning behind this request. I love more badges and would want more perks for my bases as well. But No.... just, no. The Prestige system was always bad, flawed, and terrible. I hated having to cut off my 50% of my Inf earnings just to get Prestige. I understand the reasoning behind it - you gotta give to get. But I'm not a farmer; I don't make masses of Inf like many do; I play and spend as it comes in to feed my alts. I can't afford the 50% cut to my earnings. I couldn't afford it back then, and still can't afford it now. SGs also would only recruit those who would earn for them so they could spout they were #1. I hated dealing with this and hearing how people were treated poorly in an SG and they left because of Prestige-crazed leaders. I left some myself. On the whole, Prestige only brings competition and division instead unity. Practically, right now in the present.... There are TONS of solo SGs out there that this would immediately put them at a disadvantage to those who are in a social SG. With this request, the OP wants to give the big SGs all the advantages and make it hard/impossible for all the little groups/solo players. My solo SG that would LOVE patrolling LB or Arach in my base but have to kill 100k of the faction?? Will never happen. Even my social SG with players that I've played with since 2004 - they come in and out of game as life takes hold.... we'll never get those perks either. So.... no. Absolutely, no.
  24. Yes, AR has the most AOEs of the two sets. But BR has some decent AOEs as well - a cone, a targeted AOE, and the Nuke. Plus, you get disintegration which can spread and add DoT to others as a "mini" AOE effect. And /Devices is fine as a hover blaster. On teams, you'll mostly be using gun drones anyway. and it's less likely you'll be using trip mines. With the new patch, you may want to get in close to place your detonation bomb. But still, /Devices is totally doable as a hover blaster. One of my fav blasters is Archery/Devices who hovers almost exclusively, except when setting up ambushes with the mines and caltrops.
  25. Changes were made with travel across the board a while ago when they added in the Long Range Teleport power. The old free port to your base with a macro was a bug exploit as stated above, and was done away with. HOWEVER, you can still use that macro ANYWHERE even though you are not near a zone base portal. Just click your LRT power first, then click your macro, and then you'll port into your base from anywhere - including from inside a mission. Your LRT power will then go on a 9 minute cooldown. Happy porting!
