It seems to have a bit more "pop" when it comes to fighting, and it still have the same survivability which I definitely appreciate.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for my Staff/SR build. I'm pretty happy with it overall. Very survivable, but I'd like to try to squeeze some more damage out of it. Agreed. It's a very silly event with no real purpose. Which is why I enjoy video games anyway. It's entertaining, the chat is fun (most of the time), and you get to meet people you may have missed otherwise. Can't ask for much more.

I created my first Scrapper ever a couple weeks ago. Staff/SR. I am enjoying it a lot so far. Been a ton of fun and I enjoy every moment. I tend to build one character, then stick with it for months until I get burned out. Then it'll sit and collect dust until I scrap it for parts and move on to something new and shiny. My Staff/SR (Laughing Shaman) seems to be this months character so far. I know Staff is "subpar" but it is really fun spinning a stick around and smacking bad guys with it.

It definitely opens up a lot more opportunities for build flexibility, and it's something that I think people kind of took for granted about the Dominator for a while. I may be squishy compared to the other members of the team, but those other people can't lock down an entire group of enemies and prevent any damage from coming in. A Dominator can. We just have the ability to do it while also dishing out very respectable damage. I really do think a lot of people played Doms as a type of Blaster because that's what they were used to. Having a Control/Damage AT is awesome. Very tankmageish if you ask me. -

Second vote from me for the Ice Mastery on Doms. Sleet and Ice Storm are awesome. Some soft control (knockdown) and good DoT. Never leave home without it for my Mind/Fire. I color the ice powers to look like fire so it fits with my theme and have the shield on min graphics so it doesn't look like I'm a flying glacier. Also, I would be remiss to not explain that Tough and Weave aren't bad choices. I don't personally see them as a necessity, but for a new Dom player it may be beneficial. Even with all the controls in the world, until you really get used to knowing how to use them all and when to use them all you will pull a lot of aggro. -

I initially only planned for recharge. I decided, once I had a decent (cheap) build that it was good enough for me. After looking at my stats I realized I had over 30% ranged defense almost completely on accident. So, I tweaked the build and added additional ranged defense to get me closer to soft cap. I'm using stealth, so most of the defense suppresses during fights, so I'm not actually at the cap. I find it doesn't matter much though since I'll just pop a purple if I pull too much aggro and all my controls have been used (I can count the number of times this has happened in months on one hand though). -

I'll offer a voice of dissent here (along with a laugh. Mobs HATE Doms). I used to have the same thought process about Tough and Weave. "I want to be tough and fight the big boys!" Great mindset to have, but you don't have to have high resistance and defense to do so. ESPECIALLY on a Mind Dom. Multiple group controls make it very easy to lock down and wander in while melting everything in your path. I have a Mind/Fire that I main. I haven't played anything else for 3 months. I log in to the same character, run missions, groups, exemp down, TFs, SFs, whatever. I did end up with a decent amount of defense, but it wasn't something I had initially planned for. It kind of just happened.
