    • Why is Freezing Rain on a given AT better than Sleet on the same AT?
      • There are many similar issues, example some Protection powersets on Melee ATs having fewer armour toggles and lower End/s costs.
      • There can be arguments about other parts of the Storm Summoning and Cold Domination powersets balancing out Freezing Rain being better than Sleet.
        • Without going into details, I'd say Storm Summoning has powerful pets/pseudopets and more damage with the top-of-the-line -Res in one power.
        • And Cold Domination is better at direct Team support and has its -Res separated into 3 powers (who also have other effects).
        • Cold Domination also gets important powers like its stealth+def+res aura and -Res patch at later Levels, which is still painful when Exemplaring.
      • I'd say Storm Summoning is definitely better for solo play and could even be better for Team play, especially considered Exemplaring for WSTs.
      • So why does the better powerset get the better -Res patch?
    • Why wasn't Sleet made exactly the same as Freezing Rain?  Even if this required reducing or removing the -Res from Benumb and Heat Loss.
      • -Res was moved around when Trick Arrow was changed (one of the best powersets rebalances ever).
    • Why is Arctic Fog at a higher Tier than Steamy Mist?  Why is Sleet at a higher Tier than Freezing Rain?
      • We don't want all the differences between powersets all homogenized away.  But maybe some equalization could help.

It strikes me as extremely disingenuous to imply that Storm Summoning can even hold a candle to Cold Domination in the current environment, but maybe you’re just that lacking in experience.

Let’s remember that the 4* meta players are packing 3-4 Colds per team while Storm was referred to as an “active detriment” by the same players.

Buffing Sleet, by itself, by 7-10% for Defenders, is not the same thing as buffing the entirety of a Powerset. And to imply otherwise is disingenuous.

It may be an idea you disagree with. But it's your opinion that it's a bad idea. Not a fact.

You can buff the powers in a powerset without buffing the powerset? Teach me your ways.

But yeah, if you (1) believe in game balance and (2) understand exactly how in demand Cold Domination is, my statement is about as factual as you can get.

And the crux of this conversation was more how they addressed the bug fix, and the reductive approach there within. They could've increased the Cold numbers on Defenders, rather than reducing the Cold numbers on Corruptors/other ATs. Or as the poster suggested; they could've given Sleet the ability to Scourge, while simultaneously lowering it's numbers.

Yes, they could have slightly buffed the Defender version of the most powerful set in the game instead of slightly nerfing the Corruptor version. Which would have been a terrible idea. Imagine buffing Cold at this point in the game’s history…

  4. I can’t find it in myself to feel an ounce of sympathy for anyone upset by this change. You’ve been abusing the strongest powerset in the game and they saw fit to make a very slight downward tweak (a bug fix). What a shock.

Nature smokes EA - it has superior buffs and superior debuffs. Time is also better.

I remember one time doing an 801 or whatever it’s called. We had two Times including myself and we got smoked. Both Times switched to EA and we smoked them.

Time is good for easy content though.

Imagine if the damage cap were 250%, and not only did defender buffs often do nothing, but your own build up couldn't give you the full amount because you hit the cap already.  The HP cap is like that, except that it affects far fewer people.

Players on teams are always running up against caps. You have so much Fulcrum Shift your enhancements aren’t even contributing any more. Etc. This is nothing new. This is not a problem.

And you're missing the point too. The XP award from explore badges could have been boosted to give the same reward as the patrol xp the explores now give and not have compromised anyone's playing be rewarding those that play their characters more consistently while penalizing those that don't.

Edit: You can call the situation @Frozen Burn, myself, and others find ourselves in niche cases all you like, but it doesn't change the fact that we are still part of the gaming community in this game and the explores now awarding patrol xp is still a change that penalizes us for not playing our characters more often than every 10 or more days unless we specifically stop a normal game session to go looking for explores, interrupting our teams if on one or our own play sessions, all in the name of rewarding players during a normal game session. Which is what the dev said was the intent on the other thread, for players to get the reward over the course of their normal game session. (Edit again: And please don't insist on comparing the change to how the awards used to be for value when the discussion is about what they could have been bumped up to as regular xp as opposed to patrol xp instead.)

Admittedly I don’t expect you to have the most measured take on patrol xp after everything you’ve posted about it.

Not really.  Others have agreed with my sentiment also.  I have a ton of alts and limited game time like so many of us.  I rotate through my alts, whether low or high level.  At the beginning of my play session, I'm full of patrol xp - so finding explores while I wait for friends / SG-mates to log on does me now good.  Doing it at the end of game play is pointless, because the next time i log on the toon, they'll be full of patrol XP anyway.  So, the only option for some of us to take advantage of the new reward, is to stop in the middle of teaming to go badge hunt - no one wants to do that.

Again, some will benefit and some of us will not whereas before, it was even across the board for all.  I'm glad you like it and works for your playstyle, but it doesn't change that fact that it is now biased towards some and against others.  And changes like that - whether it's against "niche" players or not, is not right, especially when the "system" was equal to all before and it wasn't broke and didn't need "fixing."

I don’t think you’re understanding the point. The point is that the new reward is so much larger than the old reward that even people like you who often log in with full patrol xp will derive a net benefit as long as you claim the reward once in a blue moon.

As I've posted elsewhere, depending on how you play, the new change to explore badges is horrible and useless for some, while others get the benefit, instead of everyone getting the same thing across the board no matter what.  And the patrol XP doesn't give more inf... just faster leveling, which we do too fast as it is, imo.

All the other badges are rewarding enough and there doesn't need to be any other incentive to get them.

Eh, based on the benefit of one versus the other and how often you’d have to be full on patrol xp just to break even with the old system, I think we pretty much have proven that you’d have to have a very niche playstyle to be hurt by this change.

  10. Just for kicks, I looked at my old spreadsheet from when I did pylon runs, and my best time on Ill/Fire/Ice was 64 seconds and best time on Dark/Dark/Ice was 79 seconds. That would’ve been with Offensive Amplifiers but no Dagger/Geas. Don’t think the Ill/Fire had Enflame but not sure.

I know I had the whole Mace/Tarantula/Enflame setup on my old Ill/Dark/Mace Controller build and I don’t have times written down on that one but I want to say its best time would’ve been about 95 seconds.
