Hi all, just want to clear up a misconception about Focus Fire:

It is not a +Damage Buff, nor is it -Resistance on the target. It is a base damage multiplier where the Mercenary Henchmen will deal X% more base damage before +Dam or -Res takes effect. Comparing it to those effects directly is a bit tricky as they actually multiply the damage even further.

Would it be possible to add, like, a reticle/cross hairs, on the MM's target once he/she lands a hit to "spawn" Focus Fire?

  2. @sutasafaia, I would recommend WP,  then followed by SR. I have a WP/Staff tank that is VERY durable. I lost the tip of my left index finger, so sometimes it is a little struggle for me to use that finger. You could pair it with Staff, Radiation Melee,  or perhaps Spines? I mention those last 2 because of their damage aura. Staff can give you +Defense and +Resistance.  Broadsword/Katana can also give you a little +Defense. Claws would give you +Damage in Follow Up.

I thoroughly enjoy my WP/Staff. You hit EVERYTHING and it's just a fun set. WP is also "set and forget", allowing you to focus on your attacks.

Holler at my in game if you want/need any help with anything . I'm on Excelsior.  @Scarlett Angel

Water Blast/Force Field Corruptor is a good combination.

    You have experience with it?

A couple other things I like about FF ...you don't see it often, and it gives Defense to Fire and Cold (unlike Cold Domination).

  4. I'm in the process of leveling a Water/FF Corruptor.  I saw some in LFG channel recruiting for PI radio missions. So, I sent said person a Tell, stating I was  FF'er and didn't get a response.

Spent the next 30 minutes trying to find a team, and when I mentioned I was a FF'er, I was ignored.

No love for Force Fields. Maybe I should just drop my toon. I remember back in the day, people loved FF (course that was before IO's and all).

Kinda disheartening that nobody wants to team with a Force Fielder. Anyone else experiencing the same?  Or being ignored because of your primary/secondary powersets?

  5. Infrigidate

This one power is (base) -31.25% Defense Debuff AND -37.5% Damage Debuff.

    Benumb

-62.5% Damage Debuff , -500% Regen Debuff, and pretty much lowers the target's effectiveness when it comes to...well...everything ( -74.5% strength to mez, defense ,to hit, healing). And can be made perma.

Now, throw in Sleet on top of this, and you're looking at a base of -61.25% Defense Debuff and -30% Damage Resistance Debuff, and a -124.5% Run/Fly/Jump Speed Debuff. Throwing in Heat Loss will get you ANOTHER -30% Damage Resistance Debuff and another -30% Run/Fly/Jump Speed Debuff.

Oh, and you can also provide around 36-37% Defense to your team (assuming Shields/Maneuvers/Artic Fog). This is why, IMO, Force Field is almost irrelevant. Sure, FF can bring roughly 43-45% Defense, but has NO debuffs and no absorption (Frostwork from Cold).

  6. Admittedly, I don't "proc bomb" my attacks. Sure, I'll put maybe 1 proc in an attack, but I don't put 3-5 procs in one attack. I'm one of those that chases the bonuses instead. Plus, I'm always afraid that "Procageddon" will come and ruin it.

ANYway....here's an idea for you. You said you wanted to proc bomb, wanted Fly, and Mu Mastery. Was able to cap resists to all except Cold and Psi.

My dark tank got out-survived by an ice tank during a test we did with immortality lines amongst aggro cap's worth of Cimerorans. It was eye-opening since I have long held ice armor to be the absolute worse armor. And I built that dark tank for nothing but tanking.

Against Cimerorans? That explains it....Ice has like 51% DDR. Dark has 0%.

I know its been discussed in discord, but I have yet to hear a GM/Dev comment about it. Even if they are aware of it, I doubt it's going to be fixed or addressed anytime soon. So I have more or less shelved my MMs far as hard modes are concerned. You can bring literally any other AT and it will be more of a help than "any" MM. So I am currently leveling up a character specifically for hardmodes until they at least say something about it.

Gotcha. I only play my MMs for non hard mode (regular teaming/occasional TF). I thought it'd be the perfect time to dust off my mercs/FF for hard mode, but guess not....hence why I'm working on a nature defender just for hard mode.

I was told that by itself, DP is low dmg but with procs, it is good dmg.

What do I need to give DP good dmg?  Is it IOs?  Which IOs or whatever else, are good?

Ignore the descriptions on your powers. Seriously. Fuhgeddaboutit.

If you read the descriptions, it leads you to believe that ONLY when using standard rounds you have a chance to lower defense. Or if you only use Cryo rounds, then such and such has a chance to do something. Nope. REGARDLESS of which ammo type you have running, you have a chance to fire whatever proc you have slotted in that power. So, slot those Chance for Resistance Debuffs. Slot you Chance for Neg. Energy damage. They have a chance to fire regardless of the ammo type.

Now, me personally....I don't "proc bomb" my powers. I will stick 1, or 2, procs in a power. I'm one of those that chase set bonuses for whatever particular perk I want to chase...whether it be Defense, Recharge, Damage,Recovery, etc.

  11. I'm gonna throw out a combo that probably others won't.

    Staff/Dark

    Why? Several Reasons actually.

    1) you want excitement

    2) don't care about it being world beating

    3) you want synergy

    4) you like animations

    5) you view mitigation in five categories:  defense, resistance, healing, knockdown, mez effects

    Well,sir, I believe you described Staff/Dark to a "T".

Take a look at Staff first...

    - It has awesome animations and the sounds of the "thuds" your staff makes while beating mobs senseless is cool.

    - You have 3 differnt "forms" to choose from (form of the body/mind/soul with each giving different perks.

    - At level 3, while in Form of the Body, and you execute Sky Splitter, you will temporarily gain 9.98% Resistance to ALL.

    - At level 3, while in Form of the Body, and you execute Eye Of The Storm, you will lower the enemies' resistance and cause additional Smashing damage.

    - Guarded Spin will boost your Melee and Lethal Defense.

    - Staff has LARGE AoEs/PBAoEs. Will you put up a single hit for 1k points of damage? No. Will you put up TONS of numbers as you hit EVERYTHING near you? Yes.

    Now Dark...

    - Dark has your mitigation....Defense, Resistance, Heal, KD/Mez.

    - You have a Damage Aura, which is nice. Even nicer since you can slot S. Avalanche in it and knock all those baddies down all the time.

    - You have resistances to everything, including Psi.

    - You have decent defenses since you have Cloak Of Darkness (which stacks with Maneuvers and Weave to give you even better defenses)

    - Cloak of Fear...if they ain't falling down bc of the Chance for KD you put in Death Shroud, then they will just stand there trembling at the sight of your awesomeness. And they'll suffer a -To Hit debuff.

    - Oppresive Gloom....if they ain't falling down bc of the Chance for KD you put in Death Shroud, then they will just stand there trembling at the sight of your awesomeness. And they'll suffer a -To Hit debuff if you slot the Absolute Amazement Chance for To Hit Debuff...which stacks with Cloak Of Fear...increasing your survivability even more.

    - Dark Regen....considered the best heal in the game. Slot a Theft Of The Essence: Chance for End in this bad boy and not only will you completely heal yourself every roughly 15 seconds, you'll also get back some precious end.

Combined...you're a wrecking ball of doom. Foes will tremble at the mere sound of your name. The perks of Staff will combine/stack/supplement/round out your perks in Dark Armor. Obviously, depending on power choices and slotting, you can wind up with these numbers for Defense and Resistances. And don't forget about all the mitigation you've got going on....Chance of KD, Fear, To Hit Debuffs, and an awesome quick recharging heal.

    Yep...this is your forever scrapper.

  12. Looks like you are chasing Recharge and some Resist bonuses?

I'd make room for an Impervious Skin: Status/Regen. That'd give you some more Regen, which is WP's forte. Might also look at into slotting 2 pieces of Numina's where you can. That's an extra 12% regen.  As your build stands now, with those Accolades you've clicked on, you're regenerating 86.11 HP/Sec with 1 mob in range of RttC. By bumping up your Max HP, and your regen %, you can get that to over 100 hp/sec with just 1 mob in range.

Anyway, perhaps you could take SJ just to mule the Blessing of the Zephyr: KB Reduction? As of now, you only have 10 pts of protection. Personally, I like for my tanks to have a bit more.

It probably won't help you, but I'm linking my WP/Staff here. Perhaps it might give you some ideas. If not, all good. If so, glad it did.

When you hit update in the Mids browser it says 3.3.1. The site one is indeed different.

I open Mids, click on Check For Updates, and it says there is an update. When I click on update, it pops up and says updating. Mids then closes and reopens, but it still shows 3.2.17.
