Hello all and thank you in advance for your time! I don't usually play Blasters, but I'm thinking it's time for me to delve into it. I know I should build for recharge, damage, and end recovery, but what else? Should I try to add as much Defense and Resists from Set Bonuses? What about Regeneration? If so, what's a pretty good number to strive for? Thanks!

Seigmoraig, This is NOT my current build....similar, but not quite. I will probably respect into this build. It gives me perma hasten, adds about 35% Defense to pets (NOT counting their inherent Defense or the Maneuvers from the Enforcers....if you throw those in, the pets will be soft capped). Heat Loss every 104 seconds, Sleet every 18 seconds, and Benumb is like 3.5 seconds shy of being Perma. Between Infrigidate, Benumb, Weaken Resolve, Sleet, and Heat Loss, you're looking at over -59% Damage, -500% Regen, -74% To Hit, completely floored Defense, -66% Resistance, and completely floored run/fly/jump speed on your target. Then throw in your Pet damage (and the few procs I put in them...Chance For Build Up, Chance for Resistance Debuff, and Chance for Neg Energy Damage), and with them already being at the Defense Soft Cap....you can see how safe, effective, and damaging Thugs/Cold can be. Above all else....just have fun. http://www.cohplanner.com/mids/download.php?uc=1527&c=718&a=1436&f=HEX&dc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

I'm at work, but I will say that I got a thugs/cold to 50. All pets can easily be softcapped. I haven't played it since the update, so I'm sure it's even better now since all but the Bruiser will usually stay in ranged mode. I would command the Bruiser to "go to" the middle of the pack, and then unleash everything on the poor mob. Fun times. Be sure to take hasten so you can get freezing rain and heat loss back as much as possible. When I can, I'll get on mine and give my build.
-
And it also gives a boost to health and endurance. Heals are good. Just a bonus if you get regen from corpses. And as a tank, you should have a good idea if there's any at your feet.

If anything falls in the forest, it's because the scrapper killed it.

No clue why I can't post my build to show each power and each enhancement instead of this long link...anyway... When Parasitic and DNA Siphon hit only 1 target each, that adds 133.58% to my regen. If, I hit the max of 10 targets each, then my regen goes up by 1,335.8% (which brings me to 227HP/Sec). When I am farming, I consistently hit 198 HP/sec, with the occasional 210 HP/sec. This is all in Offensive. If I go Defensive, then it's increased (along with my Defenses and Resistances. The only time I have ever died was when i wasn't paying attention or doing something totally absurd. I've been on mission teams (with another tank) and I've been the only one standing. I built this tank for survivability, and surprisingly, he also puts out decent damage. I am very pleased with his performance. I can tank any mission, any AV, any GM on any team, help contribute damage, and farm if I want to. Between the defense, resists, and absorb/regen, it is a very durable, and versatile, build. http://www.cohplanner.com/mids/download.php?uc=1522&c=719&a=1438&f=HEX&dc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| Copy & Paste this data into Mids' Reborn : Hero Designer to view the build | |-------------------------------------------------------------------| |MxDz;1522;719;1438;HEX;| |78DA65945B4F135110C7CFB65B8152A4D042B955A0054B8B2C547DD6A8DC441AB9E| |96BB38163D9886DB3E5017C33D1A86F8A1A1F7D353E9078F92C4AF40B880A1A2E02| |5EB24E77FE9686DDA4FD9D333BE7CCCC7FCED9D4D2A06F75E4CE79A1F82E2DE8854| |27A46CFDE94A627A5678C59517C2AE8D7C1D6F4A0BC21B305A95D3472E9AB6646CF| |1AB3E90BE6AD9CD90687945C90529BD2E70C7DD1C865792E6A2672B9056DD8C8CC2| |F1AD94CAD3D1B97FA9C340BF346DE6BCFA7F352CEF9FEBFCA935F60286FCC6A4359| |696696D329BDB028CDE5264A46A3DF5694FE94627A965B1CB88548AAC2B5C35477C| |13DE66A4CE0B13C6282105145FD2831AC8AD824CFFB2FF33C39C5F3E434739BE228| |1CC7A35C57ECFD8E5D032799951B1CA7F233D3BBCEDCA1B56EE4E86E605F6F90E9F| |333EB03CC5DF2F5B0AF7540E30A1EAB15D3F09F611E2FC68C114798C951E63BAAB1| |8A6B14550597104155FCA27DAA15D58E5F0D6D82D026086D1AF7A11D75B906EB6B5| |A846D7393AD96F370D59E663F7F58B175F28798BF29469D2D90E5AA43AE71E41A87| |3E2AED13403D8161C41D63365D6126B699FDD0A98ED6342076036C4DD0AE05DABDA| |69A439CB33B84BE76A19F5DE8631FFAF887F26C461F9B1FAABCCF5D66C703F01E78| |9FD9F98973DAEA11A2156B5BBFB8ECBADBD6C1AFCC139BE006F88D19A13AC2A823D| |CCBBA761EE15FCAAD9D35F4B443C328348C42C328FADC85BE27A6D8FE863488E06C| |479E71DEA79E828FC0C7CCBE15F009F32DADEDC6DAEEF75CEBC90FE047708D19BBC| |DB9C696988D54570FEAEA417FE2E84F02FD79414B7B71A67A51EB2B3A641AAF53B4| |737C86FAC7B8A610ED3900FF81568EDBA696EE6EF16A589688ABA59B6F251C6F071| |C96A4C372C66139EBB08C3B2C132AC29245B12D557EBADF6CB136BCA5EF04DE7E2F| |B77472359B0EAF1F87164579EEE2BBB8C2DC2B7E13B0FFCFB2F17ED9B7E2C8F392C| |E4212AFC60387E3B5B2F13F441C0C45| |----------------------------------------------------------------

You can't, unfortunately, use Fallout on dead pets. Concept for Thugs/Time? You could be a mad genius who has been experimenting with the Space/Time continuum. After mastering it, you decide to enlist a gang to help you rid the forces of evil(or good if you're a villain). Or you could be from the future and have come back in time with your gang to help fight the good (or evil) fight. Thugs is a great set. I use Gang War as a "mule " to slot the Pet Defense IOs. Keep in mind that Thugs has Defense, and Enforcers have Leadership (Maneuvers in particular). Time would help get your pets Soft Capped. The same could be said for the FFG in Traps. I,personally, would go with Time as it offers heals, buffs, debuffs, holds, and recharge/end recovery. Not knocking Traps at all (I have a bots/traps). Traps DOES offer a lot (defense, hold,-regen, a lite bit of -to hit), but ,like you said, doesnt really have a reliable heal. Now, let's talk Radiation. My main from live was a fire/rad troller that solo'd every GM and AV. I haven't looked at the differences in values between a troller and an MM with /Rad, so I dont know how the 2 would compare. I WILL say that /Rad has always been known as the AV Killer. -To hit? Check. -Defense? Yep. -Resistance? Yeah. -Regen? Of course. Radiation Infection, Enervating Field, and Lingering Rad neuters all that. The massive to hit debuff will stack and pair quite nicely with the Thugs' defenses and Enforcers' Leadership (and of course your own Leadership toggles because, well, that's a given). You can slot out your heal and AM to really help out you, your pets, and your team. I cant say enough good things about Rad. I guess you could look at it like this...Time will give you a few tools to help with Crowd Control(and this your survivability), while Rad will just let you take down an enemy faster. A LOT faster. Also, Rad can be end hungry. Running RI,EF, and then your Leadership Toggles, and any other toggles you might get, can get costly especially in a long drawn out fight. Be sure to slot some End Reduction in your toggles, slot Stamina, and pick up whatever End Recovery bonuses you can get thru IOs.

Ya know what one of the greatest feelings in the world is? When you're teaming, and everyone wipes, INCLUDING the other Tank, and the whole team is cheering you on because you're still alive and kicking (without using any insps or incarnate powers). Then you clear the room, everyone rezzes, and they're all like "holy shit!" because they're in awe that you not only survived, but cleared everything for them. 😀

If I was making an MM for farming, I'd go one with one of the following: Thugs/cold Thugs/time Demon/time I have a thugs/cold, and your pets' defenses are easily softcapped. Throw down bonfire, sleet, heat loss, and it's pretty safe, effective, and easy. I actually farmed BM a bit with mine. Time is just a powerhouse. Heals, buffs, debuffs, and holds. As mentioned, it would pair nicely with Thugs (stack defense with their defense and the enforcers buffs). I also threw demons in as the Prince has some controls, there's a mixture of damage types, T2 pets add resist and heals. Plus you can use HoE as a mule (like fang war) for the Pet Resist/Defense IOs. I had a Demon/Time on Live, and it was very fun and powerful. Either way you go, just have fun and keep us updated!

Here's my current build. I'm thinking about changing the Incarnate powers (dropping Musculature and going with either Resilient or Agility for the Alpha, and dropping Assault as my Hybrid and picking up Melee instead...not sure yet). DON'T TEMPT ME. I have thought about doing this, the penalties of Granite wouldn't really bother me since I almost always team with friends (and one of them has a /kin). Hmm....Stone/Rad. 2 damage/taunt auras...another "heal" attack...awesome PBAoE attack...stack -defense... Hmm...🤔

Henchmen suck! (Advice needed thread with a hyped title)
Xandyr replied to Solarverse's topic in Mastermind
I feel ya Solarverse. I've done some of the math like you, but decided to go Mercs/Thermal. My thought process, like yours, was the Mercs have inherent resistances, so Thermal will increase those resistances, plus have heals to back them up. Throw in the +Pet Resistance IOs, and they should be sturdy. I'm still a few levels away from being able to slot level 50 IOs, so I'm going to wait until then to go haywire with my slotting. I also agree with /Time. I have a Beast/Time and it is a really fun set, and the buffs/heals/controls really help. I think my next MM project will be Ninja, probably paired with Time (although I hate repeating powersets). On another note, if you wanna dabble with Thugs, I can attest that /Cold pairs extremely well. -
If I can get on tonight I will. In Offensive, I have 2999 HP, and over 3k in defensive. I've been debating on switching up some Incarnate powers to see how he'll do.
-
This may be a dumb question, but I'm Mercs/Thermal. If I put an Achilles Heel:-resist into Soldiers, will that stack with Melt Armor?
-
So I guess the biggest bang for the buck, as far as the Achilles Heel proc goes, is to just have 1 slotted into Soldiers. 3 soldiers using attacks , you would think, would almost guarantee the proc to fire consistently. Also, would it be best to have 1 or 2 procs in Soldiers, or as many as you can fit?
-
My main is Bio/Rad. I've built him over and over, and each time he gets better. I have soft capped or near soft capped typed defense. And the regen is crazy. I've hit between 175-207 hp/sec while in a mob. Couple that with very high HP, high defense numbers, and well...it's hard to die. The numbers go up even more if I switch to Defensive mode.
-
Looks like Mercs can take a LOT of procs. I plan on slotting the Achilles Heel :Chance for Resist Debuff in each of my pets. Would it be beneficial to slot Soldiers with as many procs as possible? What procs would work best in each pet tier? By the way, I'm playing a Mercs/Thermal and always team with friends.

What is considered the best AV/GM killler (solo) now? Used to be fire/rad. Is it still top dog, or is Ill/Rad or Ill/Cold better?
-
I love my beast/time. It's a fun set. Being able to heal/buff/hold/etc goes a long ways. I sometimes team with a demon/time, and together we are nigh unstoppable. As far as /rad goes...I love rad. My main from live was a fire/rad controller. When I saw that it was going to be ported to MMs, to say the least, I was ecstatic. I rolled a necro/rad, and was completely dissatisfied. My guess is because of Necro. If you plan on running with a team, it might not be so bad, but solo, I spend more time summoning/training than anything else. The zombies die. A lot. A whole lot. Even if you throw out your debuffs first, they still die. If any of your pets even look at a baddie, they die. Maybe bots/rad would work better since they are more defense based. I just got a bots/traps to 50, so I'm hoping it's as good as I've read for AVs/GMs. My fire/rad troller was for soloing AVs/GMs, and with Homecoming, I want another AV/GM killer. Time will tell.

To the Homecoming Team, I sincerely appreciate everything you've done to bring us Home. Everytime I hear about the donation window, I'm ready to donate my hard earned money, but it's always closed. To reach your monthly donation target, in a matter of MINUTES, EVERY MONTH, speaks volumes of the community and the love for this game. Again, thank you and /em salute. I'll continue to be Home and waiting my chance to finally contribute to the cause!

Touche. Didnt think about the shields from the Protector Bots. I'm in the process of building my own, and was thinking about taking the Force of Will(?) pool...mainly for Weaken. Have you any experience with it? I'm thinking the extra -defense/-resist would be pretty handy.
-
Am I overlooking it, or are you not using both of the pet IOs that give your pets +Defense?
-
Hi all. So, I really wanna try a Beast MM. I had a beast/FF , but deleted it. Mainly bc I found FF to be boring. I want my secondary to compliment Beast...aka help with their defense. I already have a /Cold thugs (which is pretty awesome). So, I'm kinda leaning towards /Traps. Playing around in Mids Reborn, it looks like it's possible to softcap my own defenses, and get the pets up to 40% or so. Who has experience with this combo? Is getting Provoke necessary? I'm skipping Detonator, but I think Trip Mine will be useful. Should you take Teleport Foe? Lastly, how are Beasts? Decent damage? Ideas on slotting? Appreciate any and all feedback!

I have a thugs/cold. Pets' defenses will be softcapped. I don't have aid other, but may respec and try to fit it in. It's a fun set, and safe. The teams I've been on have loved the shields, sleet, and heat loss.
