Focused Feedback: Epic / Ancillary Power Pools
StarkWhite replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Y'all can speak for yourselves on "powers nobody will take." Lots of us build *characters*, not perfectly optimized mathematical killbots. You know what sucks the fun out of the game? Players who math away anything interesting or different or flavorful in pursuit of brutal efficiency. "This isn't a Fire Blast clone so why bother? Nobody will play this." -

They've flat-out said that they're not doing that again. -
I suspect the extra time to go grab Wentworth History Buff and Upgraded (which will mostly be from the monorail ride, not from the actual badge-grabbing) will be more than canceled out by the free jetpack. And I refuse to believe that anyone who's currently making a practice of getting the Atlas exploration accolade first thing doesn't know exactly where Wentworth History Buff and Upgraded are.

Excellent. That change, as small as it might seem, really impacted my enjoyment of the set and, for lack of a better term, its Controllery feeling. -
Focused Feedback: High-Level Council Revamp

The base identity of the Council, such as it is, is an all over the place "vampires, werewolves, robots, supersoldiers, aliens, explosions." That has not changed. -

I have exactly one character that uses invention sets and incarnate powers. All of my Page 7 testing has been with a variety of 40-50 SO-only characters. (EDIT: All of my testing on *this* topic. I've also done a bunch of brand-new level 1 character testing for other things.) -

At lower difficulties these changes are barely there. Have you tested them? -

"Universally" is doing a lot of work there. -

Here's the thing. +4/x8 is not the default difficulty. It is, in fact, the player telling the game that they want it to be much harder. Or at least it was supposed to be. Homecoming's ridiculously easy access to invention sets and incarnate powers has warped the playstyle of its playerbase, because literally anybody can have a build, with minimal effort, that was *extremely difficult and time-consuming* to achieve pre-sunset. And as a result players' perception of the difficulty slider has become completely skewed. It's not a mortal insult to suggest that if something is too difficult, *turn the difficulty down*. -

Nobody is locked into +4/x8. If you want the content to be more boring, *turn your difficulty down.* I've tested solo at +0/x1 with bosses and AVs turned off. The difference from Page 6 is barely even noticeable. I haven't had time to ramp up in steps and see at which difficulty it starts to become apparent, but it's on my agenda. -
Personally I'm fine with Outbreak leading to the City Hall contacts and Galaxy City leading to Matthew. Most of those older missions are just fine, and it's about time the more tailored-to-your-origin early experience got some attention, as opposed to Matthew's one-size-fits-all experience. I miss the days when a character's early story didn't necessarily look like others', as opposed to "everyone gets Savior of Atlas Park, then everyone goes to fight Skulls with the Regulators" (or worse, "everyone does DFB until their brains fall out").

It actually used to summon two drones, but that was apparently causing some issues. -

Most play sessions, I have a good chance of making more prismatic aether from soloing story arcs than I would get from this reward. -

That's by design. It will push or pull depending on how far away the target gets, trying to keep the target a set distance away from the caster (unlike the old "push infinitely" version). -
Focused Feedback: Role Diversity Bonus
StarkWhite replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I think people are approaching this as some sort of "and now going forward here is how we've redefined the roles of all the ATs" thing, when it's actually just a "if you brought a nice mix of ATs rather than a tanker and seven corruptors, you deserve a little pat on the head." -

I'm pretty sure the AOE Sleep *does* get re-applied, unless that got taken back out at some point when I wasn't paying attention. -

I know, I'm there too. I'm just not twelve and don't find it particularly hilarious. -

"Us" is doing a lot of work there. -
All instances of "ninjitsu," particularly in the powerset of the same name, should be "ninjutsu." Basically the only martial art where the "-jitsu" construction is appropriate is "Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu" (where it's speculated that the spelling error is deliberate to make it easier to trademark).
