  1. My daughter just turned twelve; she plays with me or her mom occasionally.
  2. I think OP's issue is expecting to get a complete view of something from a single story arc or contact. By design, the game spreads this kind of information over a ton of arcs and contacts, across a wide spread of levels and alignments. This is meant to simulate superhero comics, where getting a complete picture of even one character might involve reading many years worth of stories in a variety of different titles by a collection of different creators. In short, all your questions have in-game answers, but you may not find them all on a single character unless you go out of your way to do so.
  3. While an acronym starts with a phrase (like "North Atlantic Treaty Organization") and condenses it into a word ("NATO"), a backronym is when you start with the word and then retroactively come up with a phrase to fit into it (Marvel Comics' "SHIELD" is a good example here).
  4. From what I understand, they have an answer for that internally, but they're not sharing it yet in case someone in the community comes up with a better backronym than the one they have in mind.
  5. Personally when I want to farm I play Coral Island.
  6. The next update will, as far as I know, be Issue 28 Page 1, for what that's worth.
  7. Ran past some Destroyers on the street and one of them said something about "fixodine." Might want to do a global find-and-replace from "fixodine" to "fixadine" so you can catch 'em all if it's in more than one place.
  8. Non-smartass answer: It's a new environmental variable. Nothing a character can do will change or otherwise impact it. Currently it's only being used in the Hard Mode of Lady Grey's Task Force, but in the future, devs can create zones or mission maps with increased or decreased gravity to simulate things like being in space or whatnot.
  9. Axiomatic values dissonance, then.
  10. I don't think new players should be guided to Primal Earth because it's easier, really, I think so because so much of Praetoria's story's impact is lost if you aren't already familiar with the characters and situations that Praetoria is presenting funhouse mirrors of. The Crime Syndicate is just a bunch of villains if you don't already know who the Justice League are.
  11. City of Heroes is a living game attracting new players in 2024.
  12. This has been a topic of discussion lately in the closed beta group, and apparently it's harder to pull off than one would think. At any rate they know a lot of us want this, and I'll keep crossing my fingers someone can eventually come up with a solution.
  13. This, and/or making the options *actually accessible from the options UI* instead of making you use a slash command most new players won't even think to search for.
  14. Currently 95% of the volume bar goes unused for me, which seems silly, so I'm all for the change.
  15. Pretty much guaranteed that the community is going to keep using "P2W" and confusing new players. It's going to be "Ancillary Powers" all over again because people hate change and this is why we can't have nice things.
  16. I'm perfectly aware, but new and returning players won't be. And really, we shouldn't *have* to do that when it's just as easy to NOT go around forcing a change in the movement controls of strangers who didn't consent to or expect it.
  17. I have definitely had people yell at me for getting near them with Shadow Fall or Steamy Mist running. I don't really get it, but on the other hand I myself have yelled at people for Speed Boosting me without my consent and causing me to bounce around like a damned pinball, so I'm not gonna judge.
  18. I would suggest that is less because people tire of them and more because the longer those characters last, the higher their chance of getting generic'd gets (ie the GMs are doing their thing).
  19. And trademark owners are *legally bound* to enforce their trademarks to the full extent of their ability, every single time, because if they don't, and it's provable that they didn't, they will lose that trademark. Trademark protection is *way* more stringent than copyright protection, and significantly more important financially (it's the difference between Disney losing exclusive rights to one specific movie and losing exclusive rights to every appearance and merchandising deal involving a specific character).
  20. I'm fine with having to use two sets to pull it off, but I absolutely agree that Traps, Trick Arrow, and Arsenal Assault, as the obvious pairings for a Natural-origin character, need to have a way to do it.
  21. Define "suck." If I enjoy playing a set and am capable of clearing content with it, it clearly doesn't suck. There is a giant excluded middle here.
  22. I have a Spines/Regen character with super speed named "Quicksliver." He has a distinct, original costume and backstory (and, y'know, bones sticking out of his torso), And I *still* get PMs from people concerned about IP infringement, most of whom quickly cite dyslexia for not noticing the pun when I point out the spelling of his name.
  23. Y'all can speak for yourselves on "powers nobody will take." Lots of us build *characters*, not perfectly optimized mathematical killbots. You know what sucks the fun out of the game? Players who math away anything interesting or different or flavorful in pursuit of brutal efficiency. "This isn't a Fire Blast clone so why bother? Nobody will play this."
  24. They've flat-out said that they're not doing that again.
