It doesn't recapture that energy of the first Iron Man movie, but that might only be because we're a more jaded audience now, not through any fault of Shang-Chi itself.

I was very disappointed in the first Iron Man movie.  What is there is great, but it lacks a good ending with a supervillain.  Iron Monger just feels tacked on and it really feels like an origin story without a superhero story.

Iron Man 2 is my favorite of the Iron Man series.

Just your typical action/martial arts type movie, with just a splash of magic thrown in.

The ads just made it look like a typical fantasy martial arts movie, not an MCU movie.  Does it have a superhero feel or is it really a martial arts movie?

  3. I'm not saying that the Avengers episode was unbelievable.  I just want to see superheroes fight supervillains.  We finally have superheroes with powers and costumes but they still hate to include supervillains in the movies.

Spidermans 1-3 and Iron Man 2 remain my favorite superhero movies because they are superheroes facing supervillains, which is shockingly rare in the superhero movies.

  4. My thoughts.  In general it is very uneven.  This seems like the scrap heap of ideas, most of these feel more like an episode of HISHE on youtube than a marvel production.

    Spoiler

Captain Carter - the only episode I just flat out enjoyed.  The only episode where I would have wanted to see more.  This felt like a Marvel show that was just different from the regular timeline.

T'Challa - this episode highlights why Black Panther sucks in Avengers and everything besides his own series.  When he is the only black hero he is the black savior, perfect in every way - and incredibly boring.  This was a love letter to T'Challa, not a show.  It was like watching a Mary Sue story.  A story kind of broke out at the end, but really this was just a clip show of how great T'Challa is.

Avengers - this episode was interesting until it turned out that once again the superheroes were fighting another superhero and not a villain.  The trope I hate most in the MCU.  80% of this was interesting.  The reveal was lame and the ending was lame.

Doctor Strange - this was just dreck.  I was bored through 90% of it.  It was basically a horror episode - Strange is crazy and this will end badly and we just have to sit and watch it go through  the motions over and over again.  This was even worse than the T'Challa episode for me.  At least that was fun and funny.  This was just dull and tedious.

  5. I failed mission 1.  I'm playing a lvl 34 tanker elec/elct.  I have it set to team size 2.  When they get 2 bosses with singularities I get knocked around and can barely fight.  In one room there were 3 of them.  MARK got taken out while I was bounced around.

I like the villains.  Great variety of powers and they fit the robot designations.  Much more interesting than just robots that shoot beams.

in the end text for failing mission 1 was a small typo "she,uh actually functions" needs a space before uh.

I like the contact text.  Full paragraphs and kind of long but very clear.  They speak like a briefing.  It doesn't feel wordy, it feels normal.

    ---

Mission 2.  I like the empty building start.  Adds variety.  Again the mission briefing was clear and I knew what to do.  Had trouble finding the 3rd explosive because the glowie sound is so quiet these days, but got it.   Nice to fight a different set of villains than the last mission.  And I just ran past the paragon protector ambush, but it added a nice bit to the story of the mission.

A little detail I liked was the paragon protector giving an identity (logan-7 or something).  Added a bit of flavor and realism.

I checked clues at the end of mission 2.  They told about mission 1 and 2 fairly well, but an initial clue explaining the start would be nice for helping tell the story.

    ---

Mission 3.  I like night ward enemies.  Great enemies and adds variety.  The clue from the taskmaster is hard to read with the dark purple text.

I like the series of tasks.  It feels like a story instead of just doing random things on a map.  And the glowies were all in the final room so it was easy to do.

I like how the plot gets more involved slowly.  It started out simple and becomes more complicated but slowly enough that it makes sense.

I will have to finish the arc later.  It is a very fun arc so far.

  6. It knew exactly what it promised and it delivered.  They took the complaints about the first movie and fixed them.  Replacing 30 minutes introducing the characters before action started by starting with action and spending 1 minute naming names.

I enjoyed it throughout.  It did not add up to anything, it was just wall to wall action and fun.

My daughter like Harley but did not think the movie was funny.  She wanted more jokes and less over the top violence.

Aquaman is the only DC movie I have liked better (not too hard, since that and Green Lantern are the only DC movies I have enjoyed).

Ran this puppy with my AE-only toon. Had fun with it! Full review and comments are in the Josh Jones arc.

thanks for the feedback.  I fixed the typo.

The contact was first written using a lot of business jargon but I found it too annoying, so I cut that down and made her more business like.

The End at the Beginning refers to that is where Arachnos got the initial eggs and started the whole project.  I'll see if I can explain that in the mission text.

I don't know why you are immune to the mind control.  I could have an explanation but I worried it would not fit all of the characters.  I could just say your will is so strong.

The mind-controlled civilians don't have a description. A simple line like "This individual seems to be under the snakes' control" would suffice.

Mission 2 has a much higher max level than the others, and no clue attached to it. Mongoose's information could be in the form of a clue, for example. The level range can be set under Mission Parameters for each mission. It's usually best if the range is the same for all missions, unless there's a good reason for changing them around (like a flashback scene, or maybe some kind of effect that diminishes the character' power).

Mission 5 has a strange typo with a long line of %-symbols in the briefing text. The scattered collectible items which had started out as grey seemed to activate randomly which was interesting but I didn't click them all to see if it would reveal something. I guess they were set to activate at the death of the boss and were just "dungeon dressing"?

I liked the story, it was a simple introduction to the snakes, which still took you around a bunch of locales. The mechanics were simple but effective, and immediately showed that these snakes could control people. At this level range you don't need to get too complicated.

I like the idea of putting in a mind controlled description, but I cannot figure how to set descriptions for the ally group with a boss.

I set the missions to levels 1-9 for all 5 missions.

Added a clue when you rescue Mongoose.

I fixed the typo.  It just had a bunch of %'s for some reason.

The scattered collectibles are just dungeon dressing.  2 are supposed to trigger when the boss is defeated and the rest after that collection is done.

Thanks for the review and the feedback.

  9. ice/time controller

You turn on Arctic Air from ice and Time Juncture from time.  You can also drop ice slick from ice and distortion field from time.

The enemies can barely move or act and spend their time just slipping and falling.  But you have no END to use for anything else and just slowly plink away at them.

It is a no fun build

  10. I assume the portal tentacle monster ending was a salute to the Hellboy movie.

I thought the animation was okay but my daughter loved it.  She had to tell us that several times while watching it.  So there is an audience for it.

What is "Marvel One Shot: Agent Carter" - something besides the tv show?

  11. There are some great stories.  Unfortunately they are mostly for villains.

But the AE actually has even better stories and arcs than most in the regular game.  Search for SFMA (story focused mission arcs) and you can find great stories.
