I'm honestly not sure why it was voted so high, I think some people in general just voted for dark sets over all.
People did not vote for the bad sets that need a lot of help. You can see those sets just by looking at what people don't play. People voted for great sets that they want to make even better. The forums are not full of players wanting balance and a challenge, they are full of people wanting god mode and even greater rewards for less effort and challenge.
That said: I also want the pet removed. I love controllers but don't like the pets. They just don't fit with the other powers for my theme.

In Guild Wars 2, meta means the best builds. The people using the term mean pvp or raids or something else which they rarely define. They just assume that everyone wants to do the same thing they do and so there are best builds that do that thing.
Meta for farming in CoH would be a fire brute with full IO sets.
It is not a question of what is viable, or good, or reachable by the average player. It is the best you can get as measured to 3 decimal points.

That is very impressive.

I play a lot of tankers. I like making costumes. I do not like having my costumes covered by my powers, unless my costume is designed for that. So I would like minimal fx for defenses.
I also like the idea of swapping fx. Maybe a tanker is smoke and fire. They could have dark armor but have their damage shield look like fire. That raises a question - should looks be more or less important than effect - if a damage shield does negative damage should it be allowed to look like it does fire damage? In my opinion, as a pve player, I don't care what damage type a character does. I don't care what armor they have up. So looks not matching damage does not bother me.
For attacks and I would like them to fit a style. I don't want some attacks to be fiery punches and other fiery swords. I want all to be fiery swords or none to be fiery swords.

Those are the only assumptions I make. But you may be right. I may be assuming too much. It is entirely possible that a large segment of the player base consists of slack-jawed, knuckle-dragging evolutionary throwbacks to Homo Heidelbergensis who are still screaming in terror at the sight of fire and marveling at the sharp edge produced when they drop one rock on another. Frankly, I suspect there are only a few of those here, but I can accede the possibility that there may be more than I anticipated.
You insult those who do not share your playstyle. I think that says enough about the value of your opinions.

Any change to Hasten would be meaningless and functionally useless in light of the current design and implementation of combat and mission objectives, and when taking IOs into account. Until we are required to do more than throw increasingly large or rapidly repeated orange numbers at enemies, it would be nothing other than changing the goalpost. Not even moving it, just altering how players approach and pass it.
What you mean is Hasten is overpowered and IO sets are even more overpowered. So the gap in character power is even bigger now due to IO sets.
You cannot assume that characters use IO sets any more than you can assume hasten. The same problem exists with both - they create imbalance that makes the game impossible to balance.

I remade my brute, instead of getting all of the attacks, I got the defenses and spin. So I can herd and then wipe them out. I did Posi 1 with a team of 8. I was a level below the team and it did not wipe out minions that were +1. It came close, but not quite there.

what a fun discovery. Only level 7, but that will make defeat all hollows missions much faster

That's actually a massive global buff to every single character so if your argument is coming from a place of "Hasten is too good!" your argument makes no sense.
There are two basic problems with CoX and every MMO. Power disparity between player characters and their enemies and power disparity between player characters.
The game is ridiculously easy at higher levels because characters get IOs, epic power pools, etc. You can adjust that by making enemies +4 but even at max difficulty the game is ridiculously easy for any AT to solo content meant for full teams.
You could adjust the game to make enemies tougher. At level 30 starting making all of the enemies have more hit points, do more damage, have higher accuracy, etc. The problem is when you have disparity between player characters. a level 40 with IO sets is vastly more powerful than one without. If you make the game hard for a character with IO sets it may be impossible for one without them.
Hasten is overpowered. It is considered essentially for meta builds. That means there is a power disparity between characters who take and those who do not. That makes it hard to balance game difficulty. So either remove hasten, nerf it, or give it to everyone - all 3 remove the power disparity.

In atlas when you run towards Ms. Liberty from behind the town hall, just before you get to the starting contact Hasby (spelling) I jump off the platform and try to jump between the legs of the statue that has its knee bent making a kind of 4 shape.

1. Contacts are optional. When a contact introduces you to a new contact the new contact is optional. You may still have missions from the old contact.
2. The game is very different between teaming and soloing. Teaming levels you up much faster. Your contribution in a team is very different than when soloing. You can do both, but certain AT's and powersets are geared towards teaming and others towards soloing.

SoA have choices between two powers and sub powersets. You can be an SoA base, with crab powers, or with bane powers. And if you are a crab you can choose either soldier venom grenade or the crab venom grenade but you cannot have both.
IMO having power choice in a powerset would be a huge step to fixing the solo vs team divide in AT's and powersets. Characters can have multiple builds. Having power choice within a powerset would let you have solo and team builds.
Poison has a heal ally power which cannot be used on yourself. If would be great if a solo build could have a heal self instead.
Force Field cannot use many of its powers solo. There should be solo versions of those powers so you can have a solo build.

The procs only work until lvl 22. After that all they are DO level dam/rech enhancements, the proc aspects stop working. They are just something to help with slotting while leveling, not "end game" enhancements like IO sets are.
Thank you for this. That changes a lot.
-
I just found about the free enhancements from the p2w vendor yesterday when someone mentioned them. I normally just do regular IOs so I don't really know how procs work. I don't want to know how procs work. What I want to know is how much it matters where I put these.
- Does the proc chance apply to each target so I should use it in a big AOE or does it take that into effect so using it in a single target attack is just as good?
- Does the amount of damage from these really matter so putting it into a tanker damage aura makes sense, or is it just a bonus and I should make sure I am getting the benefit of the recharge?
- Does the recharge of the power matter or if I use it whenever it is up I have the same chance to proc in a minute with a fast power and a slow power, or is one better?
Basically assume I have 3 single target melee attacks that do more damage as their recharge increases, a longer duration AoE, and a damage aura - which one is best to put the procs ?
-
DA does use too much END. It does not need an END reduction. It needs its mezz protections changed so you don't have to run all of your toggles to get them.
Specifically it needs immobilized resistance removed from Cloak of Darkness and put into Obsidian Shield so you can get by without Cloak running. You would also get immobilize protection much earlier, which is needed.

The idea is that, given limitless inf, you can use IOs and various pools/incarnates/whatever to softcap defences for Blasters to minimise the amount you get hit. Not getting hit in the first place is most of your survival right there, and the fact that you'll eventually get hit in an encounter is minimised by huge AoE burst damage. The shorter a fight is, the fewer attacks there are, which results in less incoming potential damage.
Right. Basically everything is capped except damage. So with IO sets letting you get any AT to the cap for everything that has a cap, an AT that does the most damage is the best.

I have enough toons of every level range that now if I see something advertised I can switch toons and join in the fun.
I just turn off xp on characters at certain levels. I have a group of 17s and 27s and 34s so I can grab a tanker or controller or other type that a team needs of the appropriate level range.

You can't play it old school. Fitness pool comes with the character.
There are dozens of people on Excelsior who play low level characters in low level content. No IO sets. Hollows missions, Striga, etc. Some do not use the base transporter and use the train and ships to get everywhere.

CoX is my favorite MMO of all time and I am beyond ecstatic 😍 the HC team's tremendous work allows me to play it again. However, playing feels somewhat less rewarding than on live. This is in part, IMHO, because the risk/effort/reward balance is out of balance. Rewards for general in-game activity and for accomplishing tasks require much less effort or even no effort (if something requires no effort I suppose it actually can't be considered a reward anymore). I think this is because of power creep and making too many things freebies instead of tying them to in-game activity and tasks. Thanks. 🙂
I am torn about unlocking things. Getting capes and auras was cool - but not being able to use the aura or cape at the start was annoying on some characters. I want my character to look right from the start.
But I would like to see temporary powers as rewards instead of purchases. Asheron's Call had replayable quests on a long timer - could be a day, a week, or a month. People joined together to redo them when their timer was up. The -regen daggers, HVAC pets, and other things would be cool as rewards for playing through TFs or other content.

Looking at the results, my bet is that people want to talk about the one flaw in their overpowered set that if they could just get that removed they would be a god.
Is work on page 6 ongoing or stalled?

I was talking to my college friend yesterday. We met when I lived in the dorms my second year after all of the drama my first year. Drama that wasn't my fault. So anyway, she lived on the floor upstairs. We got along pretty well even though most of the people on the floors didn't like people from other floors. So we hung out but not in the dorms. Usually the library or this cafe I liked which had great cookies. Kind of like the ones your mom makes, but better. So she texted me to say 'hi'. I was grocery shopping, they were out of Spam light so I need to add that to the shopping list for next time. So I did not text her back right away. I feel bad about that because once when we were supposed to meet at the cafe I was late. It wasn't my fault. I was helping a dorm friend. But when she texted I couldn't tell my dorm friend about it because of different floors not getting along, so I didn't text back. When I got to the cafe she was mad. She has always been sensitive about texting back ever since. So when I got to my car after putting the groceries in the back. I nearly got hit by a driver who was backing up and must not have noticed my shopping car as I was putting groceries in. So after that, I sat in the front seat and texted my friend back. I didn't know what to say since we haven't spoken in awhile so I texted 'hi' back.
