  1. Your character name: (Red Star Holder) Ronin Raider Your Global handle: @Matsiyan Are you the owner? No Are you the builder? Yes (Matsiyan-Qal) Your base’s name: Ronin's Raiders The shard it is located on: Excelsior The passcode for entry: RAIDERS-30984 The category your base is entering under: Novice Contributing builders’ names or Global handles: Just me based off an idea by the base owner, @Finkill ('an epic interdimensional pocket') and a suggestion from @Dacy ('floating giant statue'). They both agreed it was OK to enter the base. Any additional information you wish the judges to know beforehand: An interdimensional pocket space was created by the outpourings of energy from the Well of the Furies. It expanded in nothingness until the the psychic impressions carried through the ongoing link crystallized into key concepts. The monumental interlinked nature of the universe is expressed in frozen representations of some of the major forces, The Ronin Raider discovered this through a portal mishap and began using it as a rest and regrouping area for his team's forays. A secret shared, as they say, led to a tech conglomerate starting to explore the space. A colleague of Argot'BurWot heard of this and sent a Rikti scientific vessel to investigate. They quickly called in Vanguard, who now maintain a rapid reaction portal with logistics and training consultants on hand. In exchange the consortium agreed to develop the site sensitively without defacing the existing archeological remains. Wary of the advanced Forerunner technology, the consortium have added their own functional facilities. Come and see the primordial remains and try not to notice the expanding technology base 'sensitively' built around them.
  2. I understand the primary purpose of the wiki and that it makes sense normally for it to be the "system of record". The issue for the Base Building community is that there is a lot of utility in the functionality of the spreadsheet. It is also easier to edit and manipulate. The issue of update validation is handled by having the updates submitted via a form and the master updated by the custodial team. The spreadsheet also has full versioning. The curated spreadsheet is simply a more convenient format for managing. I agree with Thunder Force that the best resolution might be to simply mention on the wiki that user content exists and can be found elsewhere. Links to the FBSA wiki and/or the curated community sheet or the community Discord server could be cited for searchers, but I understand why references to off-site sources is not good practice where a wiki is the primary source.
  3. Distinctly a stalled work in progress, but… Everlasting KAIDAN-12275 Builder @Matsiyan Inspiration @Squidget
  4. Marsbase is so huge and so full of gorgeous ideas. I want to make guestbook comments, but I don’t even know where to start.
  5. I was able to start touring yesterday. The macros did help! I look forward to more visits in the coming days. I left some comments in the Base Directory guestbook. I really enjoyed seeing things new to me. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14DqavAx6ov60d92rhvwy2sNEW_909MCHp421GM4q-Yk/edit
  6. Terran Stellar Navy TSN-159 Everlasting *Disclaimer very modest Work-In-Progress! Still need to flesh out offices, barracks and supply and a last bit of medical, probably a therapist office.
  7. Most base builders don’t do it for the inf. They will do it because it is an interesting project. Would they appreciate a huge chunk of influence after it is built? Probably! Are they going to dicker about it upfront? Probably not.
  8. Unfortunately the Base editor is a beast unto itself written in a very different way to the rest of the game. It would need a whole new editor to be able to import or work from existing mission maps. Totally understand about where the desire to invest time differs from person to person.
  9. Huge thanks, ATC. The example you provided let me set up spreadsheet formulae to create the right data to paste. The process now is - select the shard - cut and paste to a google doc (easiest way to drop the unwanted quotation marks) - edit the wiki page and replace the existing table with the doc contents Also thanks for the improvement over the original wiki tables to include sorting on demand.
  10. I was able to make good progress on replicating the example you gave me.
  11. Hi Spectre, The new Directory is actually two spreadsheets. The master can only be updated by a small team of editors, who respond to requests submitted via Google forms. The second sheet is a selective mirror of that, published as readonly.
  12. I wouldn’t call it a script but that’s how we did the recent check. I cut and pasted the wiki tables into a spreadsheet and threw formulas in to highlight differences and missing rows either way. That’s what EB used to reconcile the two. The consistency between the shard lists on the wiki was a big help. A scripted extract and diff would be smoother.
  13. Many thanks, ATC! I’m not sure how soon I can test that out, but it should be possible to generate the whole thing as a single sheet in google to make a single copy/paste. I came from Excel too. They are remarkably similar.
  14. Hi, I’ve been helping with the mechanics of the spreadsheeting. We already automate the export from the master to the viewing copy. I would gladly set up an export format to facilitate updating the wiki either simplifying a manual cut/paste or scripting something.
  15. Thank you, Jimmy! I came here to mention what a pleasant surprise it was to find SG Base items included in the release. My heart sank a bit at first glance when I thought there weren’t any! Thanks for the invitation to include pictures. I love the suggestion of an expandable list of content headings or a TOC post that links to detail sections. I play the game a lot for immersion in the theme and the bases are such a delight to aid the belief in the character. I have seen the base building facilities in some other games and they pale into insignificance against the tools that Homecoming provided when they added the extra controls to the base editor. The works of art that have been created (despite the limitations of the underlying editor) are so amazing that they create a serious thirst for additional capabilities. Such artistry deserves support. Thank you a million times over. Keep up the amazing work!
