Silence here makes me understandably nervous
Cobalt Arachne replied to Troo's topic in Open Beta Testing
Schnuff takes time to build/create; I'm sure things are cooking in the kitchen. 🧐 Speaking of, just noticed the Prerelease version got patched. -
Can we post self-congratulatory milestone screenshots?
Cobalt Arachne replied to EmperorSteele's topic in Badges
IT IS DONE, AT LAST. 😁 With the Valentine's/Spring Fling event re-run now live; I've finally got 'em all after grabbing the last six badges I was missing! Woo! 1548/1547 -

Random heads-up; The Firebase Zulu mission door located at 3389.2 1092.2 -2354.1 outputs you inside a nearby tree which causes you to be unable to move.

Logged out in wrong place, what happens?
Cobalt Arachne replied to Jacktar's topic in General Discussion
I know earlier-on because zones were replaced/superseded rather than actually recreated (which is why we have the Echo zones now) characters who happened to log out in them would be able to stay there until they left; IE: If you had a toon logged out the Rikti Crash Site when Issue 10 landed, you'd still have a character inside the RCS (which was a neat pointless thing lol) they just had nothing to do and if they left could never get back in. 😄 I want to say much later they weren't so passive about things like that and when Galaxy City was destroyed if you were logged out there they moved you to Atlas Park; But that's mostly anecdotal recollections on my part. 🤔 -
issue 27 Patch Notes for January 5th, 2021
Cobalt Arachne replied to The Curator's topic in Patch Notes Discussion
Ah, so it was an animation exploit lol; This explains the people I had seen who seemed to have /e lookup macro'd to be constantly auto-firing on their character at all times. I just thought they were performing some high-concept nervous system twitch roleplaying idea. 😅 -

So while enjoying some local Nerva Archipelago cultural points; I noticed something out of place... There are Crey Agents + unethical tourists (the spawns that appear by the exploration badge of the same name within the Crey compound to the south) spawning inside the Agincourt Longbow containment block near the Blind Eye exploration badge's location... 😅 Maybe Crey's PR tours have been wildly expanded but I'm assuming the beams just got crossed somewhere as to which spawn definitions are being pointed at for these points:

Non-superheroes? In my superhero MMORPG? It's more likely than you'd think.
-
Pretty much; I don't condemn ERP, it's just as valid as any other type of consensual RP. I try and respect everyone's choice as valid and be accommodated (within acceptable range) as that's important for making RP work. It's just a little uncomfortable to be pulled into it by proximity or things get suddenly sexually charged when the initial RP premise was not established as such. As mentioned, it's not too common thankfully.
-
Haha! I will give you that, it is definitely something that exists outside of RP, and part of it is definitely me and how I react; Maybe I should simply start baking how I respond to that kind of thing into my RP concepts so it doesn't take me out of the moment so much. 😅 Certainly degrees of it doesn't hurt; A couple RP pair in a mission being a couple with those kind of small tokens of love is totally fine. When it starts feeling like they'd rather be doing the horizontal tango than RPing that I begin raising an eyebrow... Which I guess that also happens in the real world too, not that it isn't any less uncomfortable. 😳
-
I usually try and be as accommodating and workable with any RP concept as I can be, after all, that flexibility and suspension of disbelief is what allows the immersion of RP to work and in-game narrative and growth to take place. You have to be able to work within another person's framework to some degree in order for meaningful interaction to take place, which means making concessions and compromises that are within a tolerable range. ...That being said, I guess there are two things I would say I'm not huge about: Non-CoH lore/canon-abiding RP character concept inserts; By this I mean, their character came from another game's universe/rules/canon and rather than tweak or re-write their character to work within City of Heroes, they mostly brought them in exactly as they were. Then we have a situation where they are expecting you to respect their RP concept but acknowledging it means supplanting the very foundations an in-universe written character is built-on. This game conceptually is amazing for how wide the breadth of possibilities are and how you can really make basically anything work with a little elbow grease. But like, damn... if my accepting your RP concept means my own CoH-written character is basically wholly invalidated, then I dunno man... there's really not much I can do to work with you there. There's a middle-ground that has to be met for RP to flourish, and there are some people who don't make any concessions. Go to horny jail <bonk>; I'm not denouncing relationships and romance in RP, there's a lot you can do there, and it's a natural thing in the progression for certain characters and their growth. But like, there are definitely the cases where somebody is just looking for gratification and it's something that takes me out of the moment real quick. We're fighting for our lives against a horde of enemy soldiers, why are you getting frisky with your partner? This giant monster is destroying the area, I'm trying to confront it and deal with a large threat, please don't make weird passes at my character right now. Like in a bar setting having drinks? R&R? Sure, whatever; But like dang yo, context-sensitivity is pretty crucial in RP and some people are majorly lacking. Fortunately, I run into this one less often, but when it happens, eek.

issue 27 [Beta] Patch Notes for November 28th, 2020

Seems perfectly fine for what is, functionally, a directory of zones you can visit with no teleportation included. 🤔 -
issue 27 [Beta] Patch Notes for November 28th, 2020
Cobalt Arachne replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Patch Notes
Just checked and buying it outright doesn't give you any of the zones; So you will still have to run around grabbing badges in each zone you want to unlock for the LRTP; So for 1mil inf you aren't getting much of a skip, saves you like the couple minutes it takes to grab all the Atlas/Mercy/Nova badges? Seems okay for the minimal functionality of having it with no zones is, hell, having it with no zones unlocked with the current system still encourages exploration so I am okay with that. I would prefer not to see any further buy-out options (such as a buy-out that unlocks all the zones) as that would diminish the value in collecting the exploration badges. I understand the desire of people with lots of alts to have this be accessible as possible as fast as possible, and finding the right balance is crucial, just my two cents... Grabbing a single exploration badge in any zone to be able to instantly travel there again is generous for that minimal investment; I'm sure future accessibility improvements are a constant on the dev team's mind as well. -
Something odd I noticed while doing some landscape surveying in King's Row: Noticed Clockwork mobs fighting and defeating each other, which given their origin seemed like in-fighting shouldn't be possible. Noticed it standing on the Wentworth History Buff badge marker. I'll try and grab video of it if I see it again.
