  1. I have a lot of Blasters and most of them are 50's and I still play them with a great deal of frequency.  They each provide me with different play experience vectors, though my selections tend to follow certain personal patterns.

    DP/MC

    DP/RAD

    DP/NIN

    SON/SON

    ARCH/TA (49)

    STORM/RAD (44)

    ICE/ICE

    WATER/TIME

    SEIS/EARTH

    NRG/SON (20)

    NRG/ICE

    PSI/MENT (48)

    DARK/DARK

    AR/DEV

In most cases with the Blasters is that I have fun with them.  Psi is as close to being a hateful character as they come and likely will be deleted.  NRG/ICE does not fill me with joy but exists because I was re-creating my original High Beam from live.  I seemed to have more fun with her then than now, that's why I am re-invisioning her as the NRG/SON.  Other Blast sets I play on other AT's (Sentinels - Beam, Rad, Fire).

  2. My Thugs MM is built around a thematic element of pheromones used to fool silly gang bangers into doing my will.  I thought about poison but had one like that back on like and hated spit, toss power animations.  Bleah.  So I went with Radiation and call them "Pheromone Clouds"  Also have the Experimentation pool, because again I was going theme so I only have the one pistol attack, the boys I've bedazzed are supposed to do my shooting.  Radiation works out pretty well most of the time.  Definately helps on a team.  The problem is that Arsonist.  Sure he's a hottie, but he scatters everyone and everything and its annoying as balls.  I get it, if I was bathed in Molotov fire I would be running scared to put it out but damn!  That's why she's on the shelf.

  3. My Symphonic Control character is Blue Aria, SYM/SON and I love her.  But I know cats who play Dom versions and they love them.  I do have a lot of procs in there.  Glorious music I make with her.

They just have to change the sounds to be more symphonic . . . And I have tried the mod.

I have seen allot of claims that they are powerful, I made a blaster and thought it was to weak ma does help make it for it sure but it one or two attacks require you to use melee right up on them and you cannot land it  half the time. I hear dp works out better for sentinals since its more of a close range set ive also heard the debuffs for defenders is really good.

Its yes and no.  Sentinels obviously have better survivability on the surface, but a properly build Blapping Blaster can exceed that.  My DP/MC is a heavy Blapper and I rarely end up face down (unless I do something stupid), same for the Ninja Training.  You get a defense bump for firing your Tier 9 Hail of Awesome so I have even more survivability for a bit.  that allows me to sweep the legs knocking them down and in many cases finishing off stragglers that survived the deathblossom, then high kick the standing boss if needed then flip out and repeat the cycle (rarely have to do so though).  Glorious.  Also don't forget the triple bump attack you can use Burst of Speed to get in there in the first place (make the macro baby) and Proc!

Target biggest baddie in the mob --> BoS #1 --> Dragons Tail (KD) --> Hail --> BoS #2 --> BoS #3 --> Eagle's Claw --> Flip out of Mob -->Empty Clips --> Bullet Rain --> Go to Hot Curls and get highlights . . . awesome!

Similarly with Ninja Training, Lotus Drops then Golden Dragonfly then out.  Dragonfly is effing awesome.  You can integrate Combat Teleport to simulate the jump in but it doesn't do any damage like BoS and you can slot any damaging procs in it.  But you can get really good defense with NT between the powers and the Set IO (and that is with ZERO purples).

Now My DP/Rad.  Yeah I do tend to end up tasting concrete a bit from time to time, not just because I did something stupid.  My build gives her too little Def and too little Res so it equals a lot more pain received.  As a result, that one isn't in melee as much, just enough to taint the enemy with Beta decay and Rad cloud while I Rain and then punch the ground with Atom Smasher.  I am going to have to work in some additional defense via Set IO to better leverage the -ToHit that is laid on the enemies with the rad.

Since this is about Blasters I wont get into my other DPs except to say DP/Kin Corr is insane fast furious fun, gorgeous in a team environment, especially when I get that Fulcrum Shift hard on.  Oh baby.  The DP/Elec Sentinel is fine, survivable (resistance) and I use the secondary tools to accelerate the primary (rech, endurance etc).  The Time/DP Defender.  Yeah that one is in a parking lot . . . slow . . . debating on deleting.

  5. Bummer desu on that where I live.  The nearest WH is 31 miles away from me!  Effffffffffffff.

Cant swing a dead cat without hitting a McGrungies or a StarSucks, but nooooo.  Chili Cheese Hashbrowns smothered covered and chunked . . .  denied.  Sorry Beamer.

    Crap.  Total derail.

Sorry.  I got a thirty mile drive after work 😞

dual pistols are generally accepted as powerful I am not sure why the op thinks they are under performing, the ammo types is situational, maybe poison is more for pvp just a thought.

I have many DP toons and love them and have great fun with them, but they are not considered powerful, they are considered underpowered, even when mixing in Swap Ammo.  They use Smashing and Lethal to start with; most resisted, most defended.  Now that doesn't mean they are garbage, they are not garbage but lets not write a check that cannot be cashed.  Mitigation and damage from your secondary helps a lot, especially if you are willing to step into melee range.  I am sure there is a cat out there with Pylon numbers or whatever, but I am only responding based on play feel.

Primary alone, my Sonic, Water, Energy, Dark, AR and Ice Blasters all kill faster than my DP.  Only my Archery, Seismic, Storm and Psionic are slower (though Seismic is close to being faster).  Fire and Beam are on my Sentinels and Rad is on a Corruptor and Electric is on a Defender.

Again, love my DPs, have three Blasters alone and all are super fun to play (Di Di Guns DP/MC, Runeslinger DP/RAD and Two Gun Trixie DP/NT)

  7. No AoE, no problem, Totally Cali has plenty of stiletto kicks for you.

I have never felt like  was defeating opposition spawns slowly due to a lack of AoE.  I just kick faster.  Dragon's Tail is fine; puts them on their ass.  But you take a four inch Christian Louboutin spike kick in the chest, you aren't getting up baby.

  8. The issue is that the name release policy is useless because 50's are protected.  Its not the cat working a toon up in levels nor is it someone "name camping", its the cat with the alt they ran to 50 and essentially don't play any more; sitting in the 1000 slot dustbin.  Or maybe a 50 on a player who no longer plays.  But the bottom line is, the name release policy will never be anything more than a mission statement unless inactive 50's are included.

And that already ignited a firestorm the last time it was posited.

The very bottom of my signature references some of my frustration with this.

FAQ Can NCsoft shut COH down and the answer was yes. I will not play a game that NCsoft has anything to do with. I love the game. I will leave on my terms not having it ripped from under me again.

Cool mate, go to Thunderspy or Rebirth or Unity.  There are other options so your principals aren't soiled.  Isn't freedom awesome.

Waaaaaaay back in closed beta, I tried to get Skyhawk and then Skyhawke as names, both were taken (Skyhawk was my original Hero Machine <remember that?> design) and ended up putting the hyphen in and Sky-Hawke was born. I have zero issue putting a hyphen in to get a name. If I can't do that, I come up with another name until one takes.

    I have used Hyphens too; I have a Hyper-Thermal.

I have a lot.  I use the menu function then bind each menu to a button in a tray.  I have one for greetings and such.  One for playing the coin game.  I have one menu for win and one for loss.  Then there are other menus for interactions, costume changes.  The last one is for other games.

Almost all are text with an emote with a few being single action.

Edit, I guess I should talk about what emotes I use.  My favorite is starting a trade request while giving a present.

I imagined you had to have a complex setup there with emotes and macros and binds.  Ironically I have none.  Rarely use emotes as it is.  When I am cheering someone on they get clap or cheer manually typed.  I bind and macro nothing for emotes.  I have one character who gender swaps that I made macros of the costume change command with the animation which i guess would be an emote.

  12. I am not a fan of the character replacement names (l33t speak, punctuation).  Like many have said, I just try something different.  Two word names give you more flexibility and I often use bastardized Latin or French and even German once in some names (Native English speaker here).  Also sometimes commonly accepted variations for words also help (i.e Phyre for Fire).  Spelled out Numbers are cool too.  Titles like Doctor or Offficer or Ranks also add flavor.  Also when you break out the big box of crayons (with the sharpener) different names for the same color really help.  I only got a few characters that got one word names (Runeslinger, Flattery and Tideway).
