Calling him a nobody in relation to the Homecoming team is accurate. We're all not developers, we cannot make that demand of other players. He lacks the ability to follow through on the desired end result. We are a bunch of nobody players arguing about a dead MMO, this was not a personal insult. It would be if his ego was so unreasonable inflated he believes he has the power to greenlight Hardmode if enough people ask for it.
-
Ok so you didn't actually read the exchange, you just assumed. He's bent out of shape because i said he was nobody in relation to demanding i go out and prove stuff to him, I even agreed with his overall idea but said it would have to come from a developer to have any weight. So please Rudra, explain where i personally insulted him and not his idea.
-
Sure, but don't bitch when people call what you say stupid too??? Or are you saying i shouldn't tell him he's not a developer?
-
No, It's directly inflammatory. I've literally seen you argue the opposite way in the past. But that's kind of your MO 😉 also i literally said he called their idea shit?? what the fuck are you talking about "Idea shit" its literally right there
-
You literally started your posting by calling the guy, who was very friendly most of this forum, idea as shit. rules for thee not for me 😞
-
anecdotal evidence =/= fact. WoW, Runescape, and many ARPGs have thriving hardcore fanbases. I don't have to prove shit to you, you're nobody. If a developer would like to see people engage in Hardmode activity before they consider it, I think that'd be a reasonable request and an opportunity for an hardmode fans to act on it.
-
agreed You mean like PvP? Agreed, go tell all the PvPers no more updates because there just isn't enough of them. No.

Hardcore has existed for a very long time, and has always had an ok sized fanbase. You continuing to pretend like people are trying to force you to play it is annoying. The lab wasn't in the game either, but that got added. It's almost like developers develop new content, wouldn't want that i guess.
-
I've seen it done both ways, I think coh would benefit from just letting people use the same name even if the toon died already, Hardcore is about how far you can go, not doing it on the first try
-
This forum is often overwhelmingly wrong and toxic about a lot of things, It's why nobody except the same 20 people like to come here. Nope. Anyone who says /jranger unironically is a good indicator of who you can safely ignore the opinion of.
-
This is just being toxic, Hardcore is a legit way to play MMOs/whatever. You don't like it fine, being an asshole is different. It's popular enough of a gamemode, people do it /anyway/ on city of heroes. It's not just a wow feature either, but you know that. I'm not going to explain the correlation between watch/play popularity to you, that seems like it would be wasted.

To get back on Topic, I'll answer your questions with my own thoughts on each of them. 1) There is several ways I've seen it done. First and foremost, you shouldn't allow transfering to. 1a) I don't think much of us could answer this, this would be a question for a dev with knowledge of how it would. To add, I've seen it done in two ways. On death, you can transfer it to a normal server or it just deletes entirely. 2) We don't know if Hardcore would require separate updates at all, or even have an impact on added content like missions. I would assume not, as nothing really changes on any other game other than how your character is flagged. 3)No auction houses 4)No email system 5) Death is on death, no self revives. It works like this on other MMO's with self and other revives.

Again, just because a handful of players do not enjoy something does not mean everyone doesn't. You can't make wild statements like this, just like i can't say they would enjoy it. That people already do it, literally means current CoH players and ones who have left, would probably ENJOY THE CONTENT. You literally have killed your own point by highlighting that there is ALREADY players doing it. There is a decent amount of people who have repeatedly said, They didn't play Homecoming even because it wasn't an official server. There has been several threads made on the Subreddit about why nobody tries other servers, It was always 2 reasons. 1) Player size 2) Not official server They have a ton of features, many of which Homecoming players have asked for repeatedly. None of those features have increased their playersize to homecoming levels because it is simply not the most popular server to be on.
-
You may be correct, It could be too much work for them and that would be an accepted answer by the OP and probably anyone else. They just haven't said that yet, only players who cannot make that claim on their own. They are very capable, this is why I think personally they could do it. I could be wrong, but again i can only assume like everyone else. This would be a fine point to make, and one that could be fleshed out through conversation in the topic! As i already did once previously by asking about mail systems and auction houses. Which was my point to OP in the first place, Idk why so many people are speaking on behalf of Homecoming like they get to say if it can or cannot be done instead of asking real questions about how it would work, how the systems would overlay, possible issues it may present. Not "Hardcore is stupid" They have this all the time, again this would imply every feature they've ever made is an automatic failure. Which is just incorrect. You'd have to be real dumb to think this is proof of success or failure.

Says who? You? Do you and the other 10 posters here speak for every single City of heroes player past and present? Hardcore actually does do well on other MMO's, as stated above its currently dominating Twitch. So, like i said, market research indicates there is a fanbase behind it. Now, its still up to Homecoming if they want to look into that fanbase and see if CoH would be a fit. A handful of players on the forums saying they don't like Hardcore is not "market research proving no one would like it"
-
If they won't, that's just the answer to the suggestion! but it would have to come from Homecoming not players. Nobody plays there because HC has the population and official title. Its playerbase is likely not a good reflection on how well a feature would do For example; They have expanded color options for costumes. Does their low player count also mean players here wouldn't enjoy expanded color choices? absolutely not. Now, granted that's an extreme comparison, It's just to show their playerbase is small all the time, not just because of any feature 😛
-
They aren't no, but your average CoH player tends to be a bit older and likely /literally/ does not watch twitch and likely wouldn't know Hardcore WoW is dominating it atm.
-
So thunderspy's smaller dev team can make a HC server, but Homecoming's larger dev team... cant? 😕 Homecoming is capable of doing their own market research to see what additions could bring new eyes if that was their intention. Players suggesting things, like a common feature Hardcore mode, does not require such effort.
-
the old people who haunt this forum don't understand Hardcore MMO play is pretty much everywhere and is dominating twitch. It's a reasonable request given its popularity. I wouldn't do it personally, because Coh is ass balance wise, but i also don't give a shit if others want to enjoy something. Given we have 4 low pop servers, i don't think adding a 5th low pop server is gonna change much. You can do it yourself, but i understand the benefit and talking points for it being hard-coded and an official option from every other MMO who had this discussion already. I'll throw some ideas at you since everyone else is being a stick in the mud, How would you handle character transferring? Would you want that disabled entirely or enabled for transferring off of a hardcore server? Honestly, if they did do it they could make a badge for hitting 50 on the server and then allow you to transfer off once you've hit 50. That could be cool. Similarly would this server just not have an auction house? I'd think it wouldn't right? Most other MMOs disable that on HC servers. Would probably also need the character unable to accept anything from the email system.
-
They are still leveled yes, WoW was just an example on how to rank enemies as more difficult despite being the same level at max. I dunno bout this "recoded" stuff exactly, but it would be too much work for no benefit. Games that use world scaling, like ESO, have public quests in the open world and events that are worth keeping the scaling for, CoH has very limited use of that in the invasions and holiday events and crotoa monster fight, which already use scaling. They /could/ change it, but it would be a lot of work for no real reason. Sorry OP'
-
This is world scaling, the way it works in MMO's with it is older enemies scale low, white, while higher enemies would still scale as higher, orange / purple etc. At max level, everything would be bare minimum 50 while still being able to be 54. they would just never be lower. This applies all the way down as you're leveling. It is usually noted when its a more difficult enemy, in WoW they use "elites" and "rares" as ranks of enemies for example. Not saying Coh should, but if it did, we already have blueprints to follow on how to do it properly as other MMO's make use of this already. Edit: Might as well clarify my own thoughts on this suggestion. I think it'd be a waste of dev time for very little benefit to the player base. I personally like world scaling, makes it feel more alive when activities don't become outdated, but coh just wouldn't benefit much by converting to this system.

Sorry but im gonna have to say no. No more concessions or trying to make people who aren't even going to use it happy. If you like knockback cool, go enjoy your knockback. I'm only interested in improving the experience for those who don't without dumb restrictions or concessions. Be it new sets that aren't gimped by a unique flag (unless its a global) just because they're KB>KD + Something else, Null flag, a START option, or even just making knockback better. IDC but this whole nitpicking and trying to limit options just because you like knockback is cringe and I'm done with it and anyone who suggests it Edit: you're not really a huge offender on my rant smalljoy, but my point still remains. No nerfing, no nonsense. Just give us better ways to not have KB.
-
This is pretty confusing to read, so it's melee AND 50's? Also, it's anecdotal and an assumption you're making based on personal experience. It doesn't make it a point of fact, seeing as I'm a blaster primarily and my issue is when knockback is used to knock things out of my patches, aoes, and especially my nuke. So you're wrong, again. It's insulting because you're trying to paint people in a specific image to discredit their complaints. I have said multiple times It's not about going fast, It's about a CC that is disruptive inherently unless you learn to use it, and far more players don't learn than do. Hence disruptive. So yes, I find it insulting, which as we've established is my opinion. You're not wrong, and i've said it in previous posts. This issue is very small-scale. It's not like every other team is being ruined, but an issue doesn't need to be end of the world level thread to be discussed. Yes it is an opinion, which you're about to figure out people can have differing opinions. Yep it is an opinion, that's how conversations like these happen. Nowhere do we say it's a fact that KB sucks and should be removed. It's why the suggestion tries specifically to ensure Knock back doesn't change for those who want it. Another back-handed insult, just to prove you're a hypocrite and another assumption that i am having these issues because i do not know how to use it. I do, i just don't like it. I'm glad you don't have a problem with knockback and enjoy it, which is why I'd like a solution that lets you keep it. As opposed to you who would rather everyone be forced to use it. Projection. Yes, you like to hide behind back-handed insults and then claim you're being attacked when someone doesn't like it. You're free to disagree with me, you're not free to be insulting and try to pretend people are trying to get rid of knockback when nobody is. They can yes, but you can't lie about other people and expect them not to reply. The fix is not good enough to many people. You are once again trying to say your opinion is better and it is a "waste of dev time" to go against it. I'm going to let you talk to you. There is no reason for us to keep going back and forth. I don't like you, we disagree, and i think you didn't read the thread, freaked out and knee-jerk reacted thinking people wanted to remove KB and now you're just defensive.
