  1. I fine Fire Mastery kind of lackluster. Rain of Fire does good damage but it's over a long duration; many mobs will die before it can deliver it's full damage. Fireball is good. The -res on melt armor is pretty low, iirc. Soul Mastery is far superior to me.
  2. For a lot of people, myself included, making builds is one of the best things about CoH. I have nearly as much fun in Pine's thinking of different combinations to try, seeing what underlying synergies may exist, and maximizing it's potential as I do playing the actual game. I make a lot of builds that never get created but are there should I get the urge to try it out. There's nothing quite like having an idea, drawing it up, and then feeling it work in game. CoH does that better than anything ever.
  3. The thing is, white males have rarely been the victim. Pretending to be one or make light of being one only exaggerates and prooves our inability to understand the problem, to understand what it means to be a victim of abuse. Are there instances where they have been? Yes, absolutely. A previous poster shared an example. But unfortunately society is not able to easily resist stereotyping and the white male demographic has earned its misogynistic asshole reputation. This kind of humor only makes it more difficult to shed that reputation.
  4. I'snt there also internal cooldowns on the proc? Meaning when it does go off there is a period of suppression where it can't trigger again even if the power it is slotted in has recahrged? I thought that was the way Force Feedback worked, but an seeking confirmation and that one and others.
  5. /cold is one of my favorite sets in the game. It does just about everything outside of direct healing and has some of the best debuffs for PvP. I was never a fan of rad blast for PvP, but things may have changed.
  6. Link to screenshot of 3 spawned at once. 2 on the mob and 1 that just spawned on me; They spawn at your location and then run out. Damage is pretty low.   7. I've had it stack up to 3 times on the test server, but never more. Don't know if that's the limit or I'm just unlucky.
  8. Corruptor. I would really only choose Defender on a dedicated support/healer build.

  10. Im not positive, but I'm confident you could get close. It would likely require using Power Boost or the Clarion incarnate power to boost Link Minds and then add combat jumping, maneuvers, weave, and both +3% def IOs....plus set bonuses.
  11. It's viable and can work quite well, though I do suggest choosing a secondary that has power boost. It magnifies the rate of end drain greatly and I think it's neccesary in pressure situations.
  12. The Transformer absorbs the energy (read: endurance) of its foes and redirects it into punishing attacks (read: energy assault). This started as a theme for a melee-focused Dominator that sapped endurance and had high damage attacks and has turned into a bit of a passion project as I love the way it plays. The general idea is to use Power Boost+Static Field+Conductive Aura to drain all endurance from a group of foes and then wail on them with Soul Drain + Spring Attack + Whirling Hands + Dark Obliteration + Total Focus + Bone Smasher + etc. + etc.. Energy Assault and Spring attack add some hard control that makes up for the lack of it in Electric Control. Spring Attack is also the perfect place for the Force Feedback proc since it has a longish recharge and is a big AoE. The below build is only a draft and I'm sure i'll tweak it more as I stare it, but the focus was to 1)Permadom, 2) Maximize damage, 3)Maximize hit points, and 4)Be affordable.   13. Thanks all. I think I'm between fire and elec at this point. I ran some DFB's with Illusion up to level 24 and then tried it out in the restof the game and I just don't get it; I wasn't a fan at all. Fire seems like a good set with some damage potential and hard control. Electric seems underrated to me; the combination of static field and conductive aura should sap endurance pretty quickly and it offeres some hard control in addition to that making it attractive for team and solo play. I think I'll try both up to level 20 or so and then decide.
  14. I've really never played a controller past level 18 or so and am having a tough time deciding on a primary. I know I want to play /dark and my playstyle usually puts me in the thick of things (melee range). I'm looking at electric, illusion, and maybe ice but open to anything.
  15. How does Defense and tohit debuffs interact with eachother at or near the defense soft cap? If you have 45% defense will there been any benefit seen from debuffing the enemy tohit? What about not at the cap? If you have 25% defense and can bebuff enemy tohit by 25%, is that practically the same as 45% Defense?
  16. I'm going to try something similar to this but with Water Blast. Should be able to stack disorients from Geyser and Oppressive Gloom while maintaining the capped defense and nuke potential from perma soul drain. Wanted to say thanks for the inspiration and sharing the strong build.
  17. Most of the Defense comes from Farsight. which is a click power. Therefore if you cast Farsight while PBU is active the increased defense that Farsight gets from PBU will persist for the entire duration of Farsight even after PBU expires. Now obviously for the toggle powers (Combat Jumping, Weave and Maneuvers) the extra defense will end once PBU expires. Does Farsight stack on itself? I can get the recharge on Farsight and PBU down to about 60 seconds each. The duration is 120 seconds on Farsight, so it would always have two boosted stacks after the first cast. This would enable a lot less investment in other powers (weave, maneuvers, etc.)
  18. Can you explain how that is achieved? Power build up has a 12 second duration, with 76 second cool down. Isn't that 64 second downtime? It's still very good. I'm just trying to see what you're seeing.
  19. There is a bird NPC in pocket D, Null the Gull, that lets you switch at will. Play a villain and just switch to hero side if you cant get a team, then switch back.
  20. Does anyone know how IO procs (for damage or otherwise) work on persistent location type AoE skills? Rain of fire, whirpool, tarpatch, etc. Does it proc on the first "tick" or "pulse", or on each one?
  21. Yes. Make it happen. Keep the grind out of PvP.
  22. If I were making a pure PvE build, id definitely take it. But I had PvP in mind and didn't like that it consumes tidal power. The recharge rate on this build is also high enough that Geyser is up roughly every 35 seconds, and water jet and dehydrate are up roughly every 3 seconds. I'd rather spend the tidal power on those skills, with whirpool being the go to AoE option instead of water burst. In fact, I'm thinking of dropping hydro blast too because the animation is a bit long and I may prefer to just spam aqua bolt with a damage proc IO to build tidal power. I still have some tinkering to do.
  23. Water is mostly about stacking tidal power to enhance skills that consume it. I think it pairs well with sets that speed up your ability to do that by giving +recharge. Kin and rad are good choices. Go with kin if you want to buff team speed and damage, or go with rad if you want to debuff enemies.
  24. Just know that if you play /thermal you may end up the designated healer from time to time. Fire/Fire dominators are also a lot of fun...
  25. Water Blast is all new to me and I'm pairing it with something that is familiar and I know is great in /rad. This combo should work well for solo and team play and even has some PvP potential, though untested thus far.
