  1. As far as I'm aware, Windows 11 is weird about setting programs to "high priority", because when you have Task Manager open, THAT is the active program, and anything else (like CoH) is technically in the background. Task Manager might remember your setting and set CoH to high once it's closed, but if you're multiboxing, it would only do this for the active instance. And also, that would be impossible to prove without... opening task manager and forcing CoH back into the background and making it lose priority again.

Also, I believe there's an ingame setting that deals with this sort of thing, but I'm not at my PC to double check. Try looking there.

  2. Hi @meyerwolf406

So, when you crash, the game doesn't log your character out. The server doesn't know you had a software issue on your side until it can't communicate with your client anymore. Usually trying to log back in a second time will get you back in.

As for the crash dumps, have you been submitting them? If you want, I can make sure someone takes a look; PM me with a crash dump (Don't post it in the thread, it may have personal identity info on it). You can find it in (Your HC directory)\crash. Just send the latest one.

If you don't want to do that, fine! I would suggest fiddling with your graphics settings a bit. We've seen issues with the experimental Cel Shading option, so if you're using that, turn it off to see if that improves anything. If you're using HC Launcher, there's an option to "reset graphic on next run". Check that, and the game will automatically launch with minimal settings. You can turn these back up one by one to try and suss out the culprit. Make sure you UNcheck "Reset graphics on next run" before the following time that you play, or else it will re-reset your settings again!

...i hate that last sentence and wish I could think of a better way to have put that.

But nonsense aside, wither PM me the crash report, or let us know how reconfigurating your settings goes for you!

To avoid this in the future (I know, it doesn't help now), many people suggest sending yourself an email with no attachment and confirm that it arrives.  Then, leave it in your mailbox and when you need to send to yourself, REPLY to that email since you know the global name is correct.

Slightly better idea: put a reward merit in the attachment box. It will autofill your global name into the "To" field, as you cannot trade them outside your account. Then remove the reward merit and you're good to go!

  4. Well, I think we can safely say it isn't a RAM issue. =O

Depending on which launcher you're using, try to re-verify your install. If using HCLauncher, under the play button, hit the three dots, and select "Verify". In Tequila, I think the reverify button is in the options menu.

Your computer can clearly handle anything CoX throws at it, but, just to be safe, also try returning your graphic settings to default, then bring them back up to a level you like once you're stable. Specifically, we've been seeing some issues with the experimental cel shading setting, so start there. Otherwise, if using HCLauncher, go into options and check "Reset graphics on next run". Make sure to UNcheck this after launching the game, or before your next session, as it will continue to reset your settings.

Let us know whether or not any of this helps.

    Hello All,

I need help recovering my account.  I have a new computer and I want to load CoH/CoV on it but I have forgotten my account password.  Also, I no longer have the email I established the account with, so I cannot have it renewed by submitting a request via email.  Is there a way I can get help recovering my account.....I would hate to lose all my characters already created and maxed out.  Thanks in advance for any help I can get.

Part of the issue here is that we use your e-mail to facilitate correspondence. If you know what your e-mail IS (or, was), make sure you put that in your ticket. Also put in any other corroborating info: Account name, character names, global name.

You can submit a ticket using the support link at the top of the forum, and the response will go to the e-mail of your current account (or, you can just check the support link for replies).

  6. Since this is a suggestion for the forums more than the game itself, moved the topic to Website suggestions and feedback.

As an aside, we DO label each thread in the Beta section "Focused" feedback, so the expectations are already stated. If people choose to ignore that, as well as the "About this forum" sticky, well... That's when the GMs have some work to do.

Per the OP itself, and subsequent ideas throughout the thread, there's certainly some validity to the thought process leading up to ideas like this. Maybe next time (and this isn't a promise, I'd have to get the leads ok on this), we can have an UNfocused feedback thread that wouldn't be so heavily moderated, which would allow people to vent, gush, and debate to their hearts' content without their posts getting eaten by the server hamsters (though the CoC would still apply).

  7. As with all Beta feedback threads, we prefer qualified feedback from testing, rather than "armchair patchnote reading". And while everyone is entitled to an opinion, refusing to take 30 seconds to set up a beta account to take a look at things for oneself means the devs will likewise refuse to take your feedback seriously, which is no way to get things done. If you want a change reverted, you're going to have to do the work and prove why it's a bad thing.

And, as with all Beta feedback threads, any posts that are not substantive feedback may be removed at moderator discretion.

Consider this a friendly forum-wide reminder/warning. Thank you.

  8. Hey all

While I appreciate the need to vent (as well as not naming names), issues that one feels requires GM attention or intervention should be submitted via the Support link at the top of the forum (or in the little do-dad in the upper right corner if you're on mobile). If any members of the mentioned group, or their friends, see this thread (or one like it), things will probably go downhill quickly, so I'll be closing this up.

EDIT: I MEANT to close this thread, but, guess i forgot to hit the button. Oops =/ Still, since everyone is being mature and polite -for the most part- I'll keep it open a bit longer.
