Well, the best chain for DB is BF-AS-SS-AS. It's a fast chain. Really fast. And the best chain for Claws is FU-SLASH-FOCUS. You get a lot of the same benefits between db/claws, but with DB you can slot another -res in the set due to sweeping strike. It adds up. And sweeping strike hits hard as hell. Also, swords look cool. Or double chainsaws. Or axes.

😘 I've been a wee bit obsessed with damage (the best CC is dead...well, other than mind control) since the first pylon thread on Live when a SS/FA/GL brute had the top melee DPS spot during the time reactive was bugged. After the bug was fixed, DB/ElA scrapper took the spot, but for some reason no one ever talked about that. Claws/ElA was up there with it, but no one talked about that either for some reason. DB is a really fun ginsu set for me. You get almost all the damage of pre-nerf TW, minus being rooted. Sadly, to get the most "performance" out of DB, you ignore the combo system. StJ fixes this somewhat.
-
You mean the one we've known has been the best chain for DB since live?
-
This is going to be really interesting, cause I know someone who has a vid of their fire/nin blaster with a sub minute time.
-
Yeahhhhh I did a lot of testing on the beta servers when Live was still a thing, did a lot of testing after too. And none of my stuff was theoreticals or spreadsheets. I did all my testing with actual incarnates kitted out. I'm not going gung ho about that stuff again. I've posted old times when I was doing extensive testing. Hell, I was getting pylon times in the 40s with TW/BIO (I only shared my sub 50s stuff). TW has been nerfed, so that is moot now,. And alot of my old times are moot since things have been nerfed. I see SS is still in a state of nerfed. That was a fun fiasco. The DPS is good there, I was getting mid 2s with SS/BIO/GL and low 2s with SS/FA/GL. But, rage got the nerf bat. Hard. So, unless that gets changed, that set is dead to me. Sadness. A SS/ElA/GL brute would be so good.

This is actually a very old conversation (with one of the people working under the hood here now that I think about it), but I just go reactive on things at this point because EBs and below, degen does a % of HP. Monster/AVs is a set/flat amount. So, regular HP AVs degen wins. But stuff starts ramping up in HP? You start to lessen the gap between degen and reactive. And there is absolutely a tipping point. Hence, I don't even think about it and just go reactive because I do play these guys outside of punching pylons. Also, I don't value (this is a personal thing, each their own obviously) how fast I clear trash/bosses/EBs, within reason. This is a big reason why I never enjoyed sets like spines, They just seem to stop in their tracks once a boss or higher shows up. Also, I REALLY enjoy melee sets like Dark Melee and defender blast sets like sonic,, Basically, I want high HP stuff to die. I've never failed a TF/trial when there was enough DPS for the big bad. I've seen a lot of things fail because of a lack of strong single target DPS. AOE DPS means nothing on this stuff.

All these are T4 Muscle/Ageless/Reactive. EM/BIO/MB 1:20 DB/BIO/MB 1;40 I'll probably go to a melt armor build with this one (or water spout). I was getting 1:30s with melt armor before. Before the snipe changes I was getting 1:20s with DB. Claws/Bio/MB 1:41 DM/BIO/MA (Melt Armor) 2:20 I really like this build for some reason. I did moonbeam, waterspout, and melt armor with this guy. All times were similar enough for me to go with melt armor/fireball. Yeah, I know these would be better with degen, but whatever. I had a pretty strong suspicion the scrapper epic snipe changes were really going to effect dual blades and claws. I was right. EM seems pretty uneffected by it. Claws is straight up a murder machine in normal play because of how heavy it's AOE is. Taking fireball on DM is a real game changer for the build too. Either way, you are absolutely just dumping tons of damage with these combos. Maybe I'll try these with assault running.

EM/ELM/Gloom Brute Agility/Reactive/Ageless 2:40 Considering the only brute I've had get better times in the past were TW/FA and TW/ELM I'm pretty happy with this, especially considering how survivable electric armor is. | Copy & Paste this data into Mids Reborn : Hero Designer to view the build | |-------------------------------------------------------------------| |MxDz;1373;659;1318;HEX;| |78DA6593D94F135114C6EFB483D0D295A52D3B2D4B4B5BA605C5A8D11015F041485| |08CAF0D29D7D2A4B6CDB424F2E87FE012E3AB0AA8C4C4BFCB0D31F1CDC4D4D3F93E| |96C44926BFB9DF59EEB9E79E597BB2E4FB7CE7E9A232BA6F57361B8DC22D7BA7A9B| |D0F7471BB5AABD44ABB6E254FA7BC31C75258D315ADADE5AAB64BBB580CC3B0A41F| |E96A434C155D6CDAE562E1A6FDB8662BDF7AAD56B156F566BD5C2D799DC5465DEB2| |DBFF3B9522E6D37C5103CF1DAD27663BB5C8F2ED7CB450B89376A3B95C2DA66A3A9| |EDDD9814126F1764283E2DB75A17244C357B8FBC4F6E807B6D3783BEA3F29134557| |A8C4C80D938D82530E0DB61BC32959A3395EB19F91C9C7C41BE049305E5C4EE0BDC| |8C75DF703936F34A9B1E655E0543D7C0C8757072D1EDF87924AE03E77175649463B| |B70C243E4F21AB88876FE4E1FF6EEF29301D0170603413014020F24CA83DA4C0F7B| |E0650FBCEC818F3DC8E50D27E6BD78772346752F408B48017E6886BF1F5AE0AF2C4| |74CF54110A47F306A389A4F1066CDE1039CB5E70DF916EC7B47EE81917DF0A344F5| |325FEFAC72B484ECDF4FAD9FFD31448B7216A29C85186721C65998E02CB8C577807| |D18601F06D98741F661827DC8B30F87E23DC4330C1DA1B6E12FE45770F41BF91D8C| |FF004DD96F04FBB946D8AFD11068DD854F4096639C9BB10CEE7A3C8DF9189F21936| |03C4572E6C2923FC1FC09E69F38465EEB3758144CB1FEA939E49FCE23CF748E9C05| |93169945AC16A4106BA62EC336334F5E242F81E905B0476ACAF08E3271DC5B9F681| |6F2288B757E92559E5A7E1EFBAD98A7FF6A6BD8FCFF1FCFF25EB3BCD71CEF75F5CC| |5729CECABAC954A2192D79D491F7F4EF5606BD7E9ED752D08ECF34C388A3B2DC435| |4FDEBBCFF6B74F3207DBA7BEB4F44249EE01F93B9B0C6| |-------------------------------------------------------------------|

I just tested Moonbeam, Water Spout, and Melt Armor on a DM/BIO scrap. All got similar enough times for me to personally say it comes down to preference.
-
There is a reason why claws is the best set ever. 😛 It does "yo, what is happening" single-target and does crazy AOE to boot. Also, it exemps better then any of the melee primary. Doing a Synapse with claws isn't a nightmare because of Spin. When they changed spin/slash to more than just garbage, they buffed the living heck out of the set years ago.
-
😘 And no, but EM isn't. It's close, but after today's patch nerfing scrapper epic snipes, not sure I really want to crunch the data again.
-
But factually, it isn't. Is it really good? Most definitely. And Hew, it's your fault the Moonbeam craze even happened. 🙂
-
It's top 5 ST DPS now for scraps, if not top 3. Not number 1 though.

Eletric Melee/Shield: Scrappers vs Brutishes vs Stalkers
SomeGuy replied to LEUGIM6's topic in Archetypes
I've done all of the combos except for tanker. Honestly, one of my favorites melee set combos. All three definitely are forced to have altered playstyle differences, Each one, really felt like it highlights the differences with the three ATs. I built all three very similar (as much as I could). You can definitely feel the squish factor as you go from Brute - Scrap - Stalk. Regrdless of which AT you go with, you will be the OOOOOOH AHHHHHHH WOWWWWW on your team. Now, the SUSTAINED damage difference between a brute and scrapper isn't that big, but the stalker version? Umm....that's a different story. Because of ass strike, electrical melee on stalkers is pretty wildly crazy ST damage too. All three make entire mobs disappear, but a stalker is going to be able to solo an AV before you bore to death (assuming you can take a hit and live). Honestly, this is one of the combos where you really just need to weigh what you value more. Al three rock. side note: I used to farm with my brute. I wouldn't do that with my scrap/stalk. sider note: Thunderstrike is awesome. -
I absolutely remember the Arma set/proc, with the PVP -Res proc going in jacob's ladder. Tier 1 and 2 AT proc in ass strike. Best placement for the tier 2 AT proc? I dunno. I reasoned to myself it was.
-
God no, not Mu. Now that I think about it, I wasn't using an epic at all for the chain. I would have to go back a pretty far ways for me to find the chain. I know it involved: ass strike, charged brawl, jacob's ladder, and chain induction. Can't remember the order though.
-
I was able to get 2 minute runs with Elec/Nin stalker. I am positive you can get mid-low 1s with elec/bio.
-
Swapped procs and edited my chain sequence for the EM/BIO/SOUL. Average 1:22. Had a really low run that I had to double check to see if was legit. Was legit.
-
Finally got to try a EM/BIO/SOUL scrapper. Averaged 1:32 after a few runs. It could definitely be better with more practice. Just did about 5 runs, enough to disrupt a MSR forming I wasn't aware of. lol woops
-
Electrical Melee Your Lightning Rod doesn't break hide. LOL. Pair it with Shield for Shield Charge then Ass strike the EB dead. Have fun!
-
Blinding Feint - Abalating Strike -Sweeping Strike - Abalating Strike BF slotted with scrapper crit chance and gaussian build up. AS slotted with resistance debuff. SS slotted with resistance debuff. I've gotten mid 1 minute pylon times with this chain on a DB/BIO. Low 1 minute pylon times with BF MB AS SS BF AS SS AS. I've gotten high 1 minute times with DB/ELA. I'd take a guess you could do do low 2 minute times with DB/EA.
-
I have REALLY enjoyed a DM/BIO/MB scrapper and a DM/RAD/SOUL brute. The brute was damn near unkillable and that wasn't what I was going for. And it was incredibly end efficient without me trying.
-
I've got a lot of DB experience. I can absolutely say ignoring combos is how you get the beat performance out of it. That's annoying, cause the combo system for DB is pretty fun, but that's the truth. Before the EM changes, DB was the second highest ST damage you could get on a melee.
-
For sure put the scrapper chance to crit and gaussian chance to build up in follow up. Those go off and numbers go WOOOO.
-
It's fun down here. There is cake.
