I already know the answer to that question. Rad isn't holding a candle to Bio's damage. ST or AOE. I've got a lot of experience with both. It just isn't happening. But Bio can't hold a candle to Rad's survivability. Rad doesn't have a PBAOE dmg aura. Nor does it have a -RES aura. Nor does it permanently have a massive +DMG boost. And even with a high recharge build Rad's Ground Zero is a really long recharge. Rad is good. Really good. But if you want to start comparing tiers of armors for damage? Rad ain't it. Bio is king, by a measurable amount, in that department. If you want to talk staying-alive? Bio leaves that conversation and Rad steps up to the forefront. It's all what matters most to you. Rad is REALLY well balanced. It and electric armor, imo, are two of the best balanced armors in the game in terms of blending survivability and damage. Basically, I'd want to see someone do an average time with SM/BIO to see how SM it compares to the other primaries. I can go back and look and my old TW/BIO and TW/RAD times and see the difference there and start making some guesses, but that's about it.

I did a brute version of this combo a while back, and it was *accidentally* pretty hard to kill. I only went to 40% SL def due to beta decay doing an extra 5% -tohit and then DM's -tohit from it's attacks. I was doing +4x8 arachnos missions (not easily, but I was doing them). I also found out that I was able to go Ageless: Debuff Protection as opposed to Ageless: Recovery. You can slap a lot of -TOHIT on something with this combo between DM and Rad. It's a solid combo.
-
I'm really curious what a SM/BIO is cranking out FOR AN AVERAGE. I'm building a SM/RAD right now. I don't foresee myself doing the primary experiment train for a while like I did before.

Oh, I'm just saying what I do and what works well for me. I don't live on pylons, I only use them as a metric. I have a LOT of time playing Kat. The KU from SD has never been an issue for me. When I fall into an AOE situation I prefer SD over GD because of the ani. time anyways. My chain is SD-GD-GC-SD-Snipe-GC for ST situations. I'd be very curious to see if anyone is getting times with a Kat/Bio similar/better than mine with the proc in GD. Or a time with any kat/x scrapper with the proc there. I've done enough testing to see how certain armors contribute.
-
I have zero issues. There are also Recover Serums from the P2W that are ridiculously cheap. I have been playing well before Fitness was inherent though. I consider End a non-issue now. But honestly, if you're that worried about End, you should really consider Kat/Rad.

Don't discount Kat/Inv. Inv has really really good resists, debuff protection, and can softcap s/l pretty easy. I've done kat/bio, kat/ena, kat/inv. All three are really good combos. Bio is easily the most damage and a lot squishier than the other two. The squish and the damage are noticeable. What you value more is up to you. If that kat/ena is based off a Linea build, he chose ENA for a reason (he made the ROP thing pretty famous). Without RoP, ENA/INV are still both easily more survivable than Bio. I have a LOT of experience with bio. So, that statement is definitely not false. Although I'd like to see his opinion about ENA now without having access to RoP as perma. But I prefer Kat/Inv over Kat/ENA for aesthetics (I can't see my costume all the time as ENA...I know, petty). They are also really close in survivability. But Inv is ridiculously well balanced and can easily hit HP cap when Dull Pain is active. As for ATO2 slotting? Soaring Dragon. SD-GD-GC-SD-SNIPE-GC repeat. That was the chain that got me the best results. Pop in to the Pylon thread. There is a reason why it is all x/bio scrappers in the top 10 melee DPS. Kat/Bio being one of them (using that chain). Current Kat/Inv/Zapp:

Shield Defense or Bio Armor for maximizing damage potential?
SomeGuy replied to Cheddacheese's topic in Scrapper
If OP wants to talk about primaries I can definitely go on about that... But yeah, Fiery Melee is definitely not the best DPS set for ST or AOE. -

Bio. By an amount that is noticed when not even measured. I personally like SD more overall, but that all comes down to personal value. But you can't argue Bio does has a bigger bang damage wise. Something to account for is that SD doesn't really have an edge over Bio in the AOE department either. Shield Charge only gets down to *roughly* 30s with builds. Whereas when in Offensive Aura you ALWAYS have a big +DMG damage going on. Oh, and a really nice -RES auras going on. Oh, and a damage PBAOE aura. Bio is definitely squishier than SD. And shields add some really cool aesthetics IMO. So that one is definitely a personal preference. I've got EM/BIO, EM/SD, WM/BIO, and WM/SD scrappers. Bio out DPSes the SD versions, easily. But the SD versions still do AMAZING DPS and are noticeably less squish. And I'm sorry, but a WM/SD SPEHS MAREEN has a freaking wonderful look you can't get on WM/BIO. -
If you're suggesting this then you're wrong. The nerf was pushed through without playtesting, then there was an uproar about "fixing" a legacy set the ORIGINAL devs knew about and purposely left alone. Rage needed to be retooled, but this killed SS flat. You'd see SS brute/tankers all the time because of how OP Rage was. Then it went to nothing. Clearly, a balance wasn't achieved.

Don't do this convenient loophole crap. I was there when it happened. The crash was ALWAYS there. What wasn't always there during the crash was the -20% penalty. That was allowed to happen after shutdown. The exact crash absolutely did not happen on live.
-
I'd hope no gap. Eviscerate is a 5 minute animation.
-
The pylon thread has the breakdown you're looking for. The ST difference with all those sets isn't noticeable (except for spines, don't do that for performance). But everyone is saying Claws for a reason. It's crazy versatile. These are all ST performance times, but Claws greatly outpaces all of those in the AOE department. But in terms of ST performance times, Claws was noticeably consistent. The other sets were RNG as all get out. But the averages are all really close, so it could just be RNG giving one the nod over the other. I've had times as low as 1:06 with the EM. That one get's silly.
-
Oh noes! You confirmed a thing! ...anyways... That sounds a lot like how I theorized a dark/fire/sleet dom would do really fast pylon times, but it wouldn't be that great at the rest of the game. Kanil confirmed that to be true. He walked back that build REAL fast 😛 I have thought about re-making my plant/fire/sleet dom. It was getting times on pylons under 2 minutes and also rockin' AOE. I would farm with that build.
-
Wait, you were running assault or just had it slotted? Either way this is smokin' for a defender.
-
I gotta go with Bill here about claws if you are chasing that amount of soft CC. I can recommend Ice Melee (Ice Patch) also, but Ice Patch isn't as mobile as the rest of claws. Your thought process is legit and I like it. Seriously though, if you like those sets, give them a thought.
-
This is where I put my Brute ATO1 proc at for my EM/FA. Seems to work fine. And in my other brutes with PBAOE auras I tend to do the same.

Everyone builds different with different goals and what not. I'll just share my current TW/ElA. That's actually a really good idea.

As for primaries with more damage, there really aren't many. Kat is a top 5 melee set, and the performance difference is only measurable in a very small amount. Yeah, NRG isn't the highest damage armor, but you said some of the cool things about it. It's an awesome set. Straight up. Lots of neat tools and tricks. I've been seeing some cool things with the TP pool since the changes. I'm gonna take a look at it. I've been a huge combat jumping fan for forever and I love the speed/mobility it provides in combat. And the fact it's an easy +DEF to all and an LOTG mule.
-
Bro. I felt this in my heart. I dunno how much PLing I've done in the past, or inf donations I've done, in the vain hope someone would play with me. Just for them to ding a 50 on a cold dom corruptor or defender. Then roll a sentinel.
-
Bill pretty much summed everything up, but I'm going to take a wild guess his reasoning is similar to mine. I do NOT like the incredibly long cast time for it, and you have to line up the cone to take good advantage of it. Seeing it once or twice is cool. Then respec out. Yeah, it can take a Fury -RES, but if OP goes claws/dark, the PBAOE DMG aura can also. And THAT will always have the chance to go off on everything. ST or AOE. You do NOT use evis in a ST situation. If you do, you are wrong. Or your recharge has been debuffed an incredible amount.

For raw damage, bio all day. If I could do shield, I would. But I'm very biased towards that set. Energy Armor is legit one of my fav armor sets on scrappers. Any armor for scraps with a taunt, really. Kat is really well balanced that way. Divine Avalanche, even as a LOTG mule, does wonders. So I can't imagine it not going really well with resistance based armors like /rad. I know it doesn't get talked about enough, but /inv is a fantastic armor also. But NRG does have a lot going for it. I'd be hard pressed not to do the kat/nrg combo if bio wasn't on the table.

For the sake of discussion let's agree that is what the person was trying to say. Now, let's remember Katana has Soaring Dragon and Golden Dragonfly. So, reading it that way, the statement is STILL wrong. Playing Kat is really convenient. You have like, three tiers of options. Gambler's Cut, Soaring Dragon, or Golden Dragonfly. Low HP on a minion, LT, or Boss seems to dictate which you use. Doesn't matter how you read it. It's a bad post. Either intentionally trolling or legit from a bad player. It's like reading someone claiming Regen is good. Kat isn't a good set, it's an amazing set.
