  1. since you're taking /soul anyway, a good trick is to take power boost and use that to boost farsight. You can do it every time with only the one rech IO in power boost, and it means you get a lot more def/tohit without needing a slots/powers

    How

I doubt pretty highly that the original SCORE group ever intended to go public; I knew some folks who had access to the private server (I didn't) and their practice was pretty much absolutely secrecy and access for the folks a relative handful of gatekeepers thought were worthy of being given access. The claims of intent to go public were only ever retroactive and imo if they actually weren't, stuff like fundraising would've been much more sorted by the time the 'launch' happened. It doesn't seem very likely to me that we'd have available servers (and certainly not multiple servers) if the leak hadn't happened.
  3. ragnarok is really just an upgraded version of posi's blast, so you can just upgrade to that if money truly is no object. Javelin is not that great unless you either want to pvp or really need the energy defense.
  4. abandon it from the contact and pick it up again
  5. people in abusive relationships are the real villains
  6. I have learned over the years of playing with energy/ blasters that asking people not to use their powers does not usually go over very well I dunno, maybe the difficulty was too low, but I've done a lot of 4/8 radio teams in PI too and they seem to go pretty similarly. I don't mind that everybody unlock their incarnate powers easily, I just wish they didn't make everything outside of itrials so trivial.
  7. so as everyone's aware, at level 50 on homecoming you get your incarnate powers extremely quickly. Basically everybody gets their T3 stuff within a handful of veteran levels, which means that at 50 mob groups tend to explode in a barrage of judgment powers. I did an LGTF the other night at +2/8 and we only really fought probably one mob group out of four, because the rest of the time 2-3 people had their ionic judgments available at stuff just exploded. It... wasn't really that fun? I know it happened on live as well but at least in my memory, full groups of incarnate characters were much less common. I know nobody likes to get nerfed, but maybe the cooldown could be increased outside of i-trials and etc?
  8. this is a good change; if it was gonna be possible to build for instant snipes anyway via some wacky IO slotting and that was the dominant usage case... then the powers ought to just behave that way out of the box and be tuned appropriately (especially since the server doesn't all the time seem to recognize when a snipe ought to be instant) the cooldown changes are fine as well; for lower level characters it'll be an overall buff once activation time is considered, and for characters with high-end slotting it'll be the difference of a second or so.
  9. people who keep bringing this up seem to fall into two basic categories: 1) people operating or committed to other servers who're upset that homecoming were 'first to market' and are taking it out on them and/or attempting to siphon away their players (frankly, this seems to be largely the /coxg crowd), and 2) people who're confused by the stuff group 1 is posting and believe there's some sort of vague reason the HC admins are untrustworthy The reality is that for the lay player, there's no reason to distrust homecoming; they aren't really trying to take our money (in fact it's decently difficult to give them money even if you're inclined to) and aren't requiring anything to play other than an email address. If they are attempting some sort of con it's not really clear what the payoff could be. If it came to light tomorrow that homecoming were engaged in some sort of malfeasance we could all just go play on one of the many other private servers with nothing lost but our time. In the early days when it wasn't clear what the fate of all of this would be, the homecoming folks were leery of sharing information about their work, but the leak of the i24 code was out there on torrent and anyone who wanted to could've spun up a server (and in fact, many people did.) The claims that HC were somehow 'gatekeeping' were always basically bullshit.
  10. alignments merits on the homecoming servers are really only useful for ease of mailing merits between characters (easier to mail one alignment merit than 50 individual merits) it wasn't so much that going rogue was a 'noob trap' as it was without some sort of small incentive there was no reason to be anything other than a rogue/vigilante, forever. Lots of people on live were still grey alignments just for ease of finding groups.
  11. Based on my experience it doesn't seem like the server is really the problem; it seems like it's the client. If the server were the problem you'd expect the whole zone to lag and crash together, but that doesn't seem to be what happens: individual clients crash and disconnect, and then those players can log right back in. I assume it's some sort of memory usage issue; I could play just fine for fifteen minutes or so, and then my client would crash pretty reliably. Other players in the raid were reporting they could avoid crashes by doing such as reducing graphics settings, turning off buff transmissions, etc.
  12. I had one in a group today who had all the emp heal powers (and only the heal powers, fortitude apparently was too much for them), all of the heal/buff powers from the medicine pool, and for reasons passing understanding had also taken pacify, provoke and unrelenting. And it's like, I get it man, you want the healer role, or you're roleplaying or whatever... but you're nigh useless to a team. You're not helping us fight things faster and if we pull too much, a couple emp heals aren't saving us. If you wanna be a healer just play nature; at least then you can spend most of your time healing (however effectively)
  13. hah, so there was a step I missed thanks for posting, I'll give it a try next time I make a new praet alt
  14. I generally just use whatever drops I get (perhaps buying a few endred or Acc DOs) until level 22, then do a round of level 25 IOs and keep those until 50. The 25 IOs are about as good as SOs, don't expire, and still use the salvage you've been finding as a lowbie which will save you a couple bucks. IOs seem expensive, but by the time you've replaced all your SOs once you've reached cost parity and the IOs only pull ahead from there. When you do an eventual level 50 respec you can even take them all and mail them off to your next alt (easy with the amount of enhancement trays we have now.) if you are a brand new player on a first character you won't have enough inf for a round of basic IOs (or SOs for that matter) so just hoard your merits, get to level 25 and buy a luck of the gambler global recharge recipe. They only cost 50 merits and you can easily sell that for 10-15 mil or more at present, which will give you plenty of walking around money for new characters.
  15. Yep; the character I'm playing now started as resistance and couldn't do anything undercover; I thought maybe I had to change my alignment to loyalist first but no dice that way either.
  16. For the life of me I haven't been able to get these to work; I've tried being a resistance character doing loyalist contacts, a loyalist doing resistance things, tried swapping alignments and then doing stuff for the original side, etc. Any time I have a mission that prompts me to call Calvin Scott/Marchand, they don't have anything to say to me. Has anyone been able to get them to work? Is there some issue unique to the new server that's doing it or am I forgetting some part of the process?
