  1. My character Grey-Ghost was inspired by an old tabletop Justice Incorporated (Champions in the 1930's) character I had who was just called the Ghost. He was inspired a lot by the Shadow and I think he could walk through walls. When Homecoming came around and I wanted a character to RP, I made him, added to his name inspired by FO4's Silver Shroud, and stuck him in Praetoria to grow and gain back-story My character Brick-Wall was literally created to provide backstory for Grey-Ghost, and because we needed tanks at the MSR. His name was inspired by Pink Floyd, and the fact that he had stone powers. Brick has since grown into a character of his own (he totally got away from me) My character Peanut-Butter was inspired by the fact that I wanted to play a kid who was a super-hero (PB is 11). I then questioned my 10 y/o Godson of things that he thought were cool. Eliminating Dinosaurs and Sharks as being over done, I went with the response of Peanut-Butter My character Orchid Knight came from my love of knights and chivalry and the fact that purple is my favorite color My character Lone-Star Justice came from the fact that I'm from Texas and wanted the most Texas character I could think of. He was also inspired by a character I almost played in V:TM Larp, when I thought my character was going to die. Since my character survived I never activated Augustus "Justice" Jackson who was I believe a Gangrel.
  2. Drenched Donuts, what's not to love. They've got donuts, a badge location, donuts. Also donuts, coffee and donuts. Now in partnership with Vanguard, get a free donut for participating in a raid on the Mother Ship. Stop in today!
  3. My Character Grey-Ghost: Reading and Writing Poetry, Dancing, Creating art (spray-paint or chalk are his preferred mediums, though he does others) My Character Brick-Wall: Enjoys playing the guitar, walking, and getting involved in pick-up games of basketball around King's Row (the precinct where he works as a police officer)
  4. Aiieee!!! I hurt the kitty. CrOUCHes down to help kitty. Get's kitty some pizza with anchovies.
  5. I agree, this is a totally fun idea and I hope it catches on. Although I have a decent amount of influence, most of my characters come from more humble backgrounds RP-wise, but I'd love to see more of these in the future.
  6. Decides to slOUCH on the cOUCH, and tries to keep in tOUCH with what is happening

  12. I agree a short note about servers on log-in would be great. I certainly would not advocate non-roleplayers leave. I did check out servers on the forum before I joined, so I knew this was the unofficial RP server. I had never done RP on an online game before and I wanted to try it. Even then it took me about a year before I was brave enough to try it. It turns out I really like it and it has made the game that much more enjoyable because of it. Yes, I now like it more than I liked Live, because this was the element that was missing for me. While I understand that some people may not want to see RP, it is a lot easier for them to filter it out than for a group of people to move a scene. Likewise, before I got involved with RP I was intrigued by the stories that the RPers were telling and it made me more comfortable to try and get involved. When people come along and shoot it down or sabotage it, it make it that much more difficult for initially shyer roleplayers to feel comfortable getting involved. So again, I do think an (unofficial RP server tag) on log in would be a good idea to at least let people know that a lot of RP will be going on.
  13. Wants to zoom time machine forward to retirement, where Monday's can no longer hurt me
  14. likes the moustache until it got him bonked "Ouch!" Go Bat Sack! Rescue Becky!
  15. Sits down with popcorn to watch how this plays out. "Will Becky be saved?" "Where can I get a twisty moustache?" "Is there even a train scheduled today?"
  16. I would go with: Enjoy your moment in the spotlight, but be willing to step back and let others enjoy theirs. Try and support a scene without seeking to dominate it. If others have better ideas or ways to improve your scenes/head cannon, keep an open dialog in tells going and be willing to give way. I've been very fortunate with those I've been able to roleplay and haven't had to back out of a scene yet. Even when my character got horribly insulted in Pocket D, tells were sent beforehand to make sure it was ok, and the scene worked out fine. So again informed consent/open communication is the key to enjoyment.
  17. Well it's good to see they are out cleaning up the streets of Paragon City 😀
  18. My bios are usually tied to roleplaying. So if I have a roleplaying concept, they will get a bio. These days my bios may just be what City Hall would have as a record on the character and possibly some hooks. Other times if I'm testing a power set I use a generic saved name 'Under Construction' and often don't even do a costume. If the character/set seems to be something I enjoy then they get the full bio/costume treatment. I can usually write a semi-decent bio given time. Costumes I'm not the best at so they take longer and even then, don't match some of the really wonderful ones I've seen. Some characters get a name because it sounded cute or fun or I wanted something humorous to play.
  19. In no particular order, but games I enjoy Rococo-Build suits and dresses for Nobles, quite fun good mechanics Space Base-A fun roll and build a point engine game, everyone seems to have fun in this one Last Will-Think of 'Brewster's Millions' set in the 19th century. First to lose all their money is the winner Wingspan-A bird migration game, good bird information and an amazingly competitive game Navegador-Explore the route to Asia via Portuguese explorers and Indian Ocean trade Terraforming Mars-Others previously have said it better, but nuff said, it's a great game Royals-A light enjoyable game about dominating control of the Courts of Europe Underwater Cities-A heavier, longer game about building and supplying cities on the ocean floor
  20. Although I come from the Praetoria has been destroyed mindset. There are some things that I just have to ignore while doing any sort of roleplaying, namely Incarnate Trials, I have to assume my character is just participating in a slice of the past (ie Ouroboros) or nothing really makes sense. Also the whole (when did you come over as a refuge) vs (where we are now) is kind of a grey area. Did I escape last year? 2 years ago? 10 years ago? whenever. In encountering other Praetorian characters I have to play canon a little soft and just assume that their is some time distortion in what my character has experienced and what theirs has. Btw very good write-ups on all of this. It does make me lament that the developers did not go further and left us, in effect, with such a closed loop.
  21. My experience with tabletop RPG has been extensive. My experience with online is relatively very new, but I really wanted to experience it. I am by nature a shy person who becomes very social with people I am comfortable with. A few months ago, I forced myself to turn on my roleplaying tag and keep it on most of the time, just to show that I'm interested and open to it. Most of the time if I'm in a strange situation (Pocket D, other places I don't know anyone) I will sit and watch and listen to other people's conversations to pick-up on things I like/don't like [My main RP character also has some degree of (back-storied) social awkwardness] I've also gotten great lessons from people who are very good at it (shout out to Crystal Dragon). I have become much more comfortable with it [and no, I am by no-means an expert, but I'm beginning to better understand what I don't know], and I'm having much more fun in the game than I ever have. So my advice for people who are new at it, or who want to try is: observe, listen, ask questions. If you see a good scene, but don't want to interrupt it, maybe send a tell to one of the participants afterwards telling them that you liked it (people like to be praised) and then ask them if they have any advice to give you. Most people who RP, if they have time, are willing to help you or at least willing to point you to somebody who can. Also RPers do want more RPers So again, don't give up, it can be fun and rewarding and definitely worth it.
