  1. I've always wondered how Imperious and Marcus Valerius manage to have cell phones, myself.
  2. I do wish that there would be SG base portals in Cimerora, or at least somewhere in the main Midnighter club. And is there some technical reason why they can't have one in Ouroborus as well?
  3. If inf sinks for the sake of being inf sinks is part of the point, this is an excellent idea. Better than the non-combat pets, that much is sure. And we know that the code is there for all of this.
  4. Karen O and Willie Nelson - Under Pressure
  5. I think it's also a goal to have a visibly lively world, especially in a highly instanced game like this. Having a good number of active players in social hubs like AP. PD, PI, Ouro, Talos, and Cim reassures players and makes the game seem more welcoming and less daunting. Without that visible activity, people will seem lost. You don't want the whole game to look like Praetoria.
  6. I have been farming furiously the past week or so; just for my level 50s this is going to set me back more than 300 million in inf. I don't normally play for inf, or even try to keep inf on hand; I prefer to convert it ASAP to items with lasting value, so keeping enough inf to transition is going to be difficult for me. That said, the shorter cooldowns of the powers makes this much more tolerable. If there were permanent portals in Cimerora and Ouro, I'd use them instead, but the summoned power at least works in Cimerora, and from Ouro it's just a step to IP. So long as solo queuing to TF contact remains unharmed, I can live with this.
  7. James Bond orchestral theme. RIP Sean Connery
  8. And now, if you're experienced enough in the game to know how to hack its files, you will have Vidiot Maps, which will guide you to them. But again, not everyone has that level of experience, engagement, and confidence at modding game files. Once again, the vet is favored over the newcomer. At least now there's a reason to bring back taxibots.
  9. If solo, what I find myself doing is LFG queue to Citadel or Posi > base > base beacon for just about everything. And I still log out all eligible toons (which when this hits will be all toons) in Cimerora.
  10. If this is happening to the Blaster auras, perhaps other aura powers across the board should get a similar pass? I'm thinking specifically of Poison Gas from Poison. I have a Poison/Dark defender and a Plants/Poison controller. I think both of them have the power, but it is basically a wasted pick because they are stealthy like all my squishies, avoid melee, and so never turn it on. There are probably other powers that could use this treatment: really, any damage or debuff aura that isn't part of a melee armor or attack set. This certainly will open up a number of blaster secondaries that I have avoided in the past for exactly this problem.
  11. Alex Harvey - Snowshoes Thompson
  12. Established supergroups start bumping into the alliance limits, which are rather small and might profitably be given a pass here as well since all of this is up for discussion. This semi-accomodates people who have a large number of bases they visit regularly using passcodes, more than they are allowed as allies. Apparently this happens often among dedicated roleplayers.
  13. This is my impression as well. The sustain of /Electric is now in an aura that does paltry damage, and that I had specifically avoided in my current build. Force of Thunder is my current opening attack on the character. I am already in the Force pool for Personal Force Field and Repulsion Field, and I think Force of Nature, which I use as trouble bubbles. If I keep the character, the way to go would appear to be to drop Force of Nature and pick up Repulsion Bomb and use it instead as the opener. Repulsion Bomb hits more targets, does damage, apparently does not need anti-knockback slotting for even level targets, and has half the recharge. It will likely be available to use as an opening move every fight, or at least likelier than FoT, which would probably be banished to that special hell for powers with too long recharge that can't be used regularly and so end up forgotten. My build philosophy is to prefer primary/secondary powers over pool powers, but so it goes.
  14. Anyone have experience with Repulsion Bomb, and how it compares with current Force of Thunder?
  15. Sometimes Citadel sends you to the NW corner of IP. Flying there takes at least 5m from the north train.
  16. Billy Joe Shaver - When I Get My Wings RIP Billy Joe Shaver
  17. I miss Statesman. He was an irresistable figure to make fun of. In a contest entry I wrote for the old official AE contest for lowbie content, 'The Great American Skull Fry' (available on my alt account), Statesman gets depowered by tainted water from the Well of the Furies, and has to be rescued from the Skulls by you and Flower Knight.
  18. I took it for both. It is a sustain, yes. It also currently has knockback, which I slotted to change to knockdown and use all three in connection with fairly solid stealth. I zip into spawns, knock them down, drain their endurance, and then get out of reach to rain down death. My severe problem with the change is that now the sustain power of the set is a damage/taunt aura that breaks stealth and aggroes everything in range of it. The piddly damage of the aura requires you to be so close that the mobs can beat on you, You are forced to choose between having sustain and having stealth. I specifically chose not to take the damage aura from the set. Now I am forced to if I want to have a sustain power. This just breaks the character past repair.
  19. I noted this same problem, where I have the taunt aura 'Dynamo' slotted with Sudden Acceleration, where it does diddly squat. The cottage rule was there for a reason. I specifically avoided taking the PBAoE damage aura on my /Electric blaster. And now that's supposed to be the sustain power in the set? I was ready to lose the Titan Weapons scrapper when this hit. I did not anticipate losing that character.
  20. What I suspect is actually going to happen is drama resulting from teams constantly breaking and re-forming so people can use the teleport to task/strike force contact queue for relatively instant travel between zones. Inevitably people will be missed, and there will be grief. The new, inadequate substitutes will mostly be a tax on task force runners, where this tactic won't work. Fortunately, levelling in the AE bears no such penalties. Shikata ga nai.
  21. Needs to be tested: What happens (and what is supposed to happen) if you log out from a SG base that you got to from a summoned base portal in Cimerora? This is one of the chief uses of /enterbasefrompasscode for me. Cimeroran Citizen is easily one of the most valuable day job powers to me. I log out in base for the shorter countdown, but logging there counts as both logging out in base and logging out in Cim.
  22. I did a fair amount of ToTing in Cimerora (the island makes a convenient circuit, and ToTing at Romulus's door is just worthwhile) and learned that you can get your tip set to a regular Cim mission door.
  23. One minor quibble. I was able to confirm that a new character fresh out of the tutorial was able to get the Midnighter badge in Night Ward, then safely (at least through Founder's Falls) go through the Midnight Club to Cimerora, where upon claiming the badge that sits at Marcus Valerius's feet, he was awarded Entrusted with the Secret and a Ouro portal. This is only a little bit more convoluted than going through Echo Galaxy to Ouro directly, and your character will eventually need all of these things in any case. While in Cimerora, I did notice that I could approach the contacts Senator Decimus Aquila and Marcus Valerius. Both of them gave their standard intro. Neither gave me a mission; more importantly, neither gave me the 'go 'way kid' speech you usually get when you approach a higher level contact. To his credit, Imperious has and does give that speech. Going to leave him there for a while and see what progress gets made on Cimeroran Citizen. Also, I had somehow acquired two 'Talisman of the Initiate' enhancements that I noticed at the end of this process. Is this what gets handed out in Outbreak instead of the training enhancements?
  24. I have a fairly large stockpile of catalysts on hand now4, so re-catalyzing them when the time comes will not be an issue.
