Weekly Discussion 86: Base Building Wish List
Heraclea replied to GM ColdSpark's topic in General Discussion
I am an 'old school' builder; when I started I had no idea that building outside the base was even possible, so I have not done a great deal with the feature, and my bases are mostly built 'traditionally' with rooms and walls, even for outdoor areas. I mostly am quite pleased with the base expansions on HC. My wishlist would include: - More stone textures, Marble walls would be a big plus. So would some kind of polished surface like you see inside the Chantry and the arenas. - More NPCs doing emotes like jumping jacks, crafting, protest, drumdance, that sort of thing. NPC emotes from AE. - NPCs from factions other than Midnighters, Arachnos, and Vanguard. Hero Corps, signature trainers, human merit vendors, pirate ghosts. Cimeroran versions of the current ones. - P2W NPCs. -
I made a thermopolium in both Amazon Army and SPQR by placing a Tsoo table on top of the burning charcoal grills. Comes out to almost exactly the right height. Surrounded the whole assembly with the low garden wall. Don't have screenshots handy.

I have a character (Hassan i Sabbah, thugs/dark MM, born Amir al Mu'minin; went with a slightly more familiar reference) for whom the Flying Carpet travel power is perfect. This makes the detoggling and other inconveniences of using it that much more glaring. Could these possibly be made into flight stances? As a MM he is slightly less helpless when detoggled because pet commands can still be issued from the carpet, which suggests to me that making powers activate on the surfaces summoned by these travel powers is not impossible.

My issue with the power is that my squishies are almost inevitably stealthies. The last thing they need is a toggle that puts them in combat when trying to get around a mob.

At the Crowned Heads base on Torchbearer, we believe in religion. Which one doesn't matter much; we believe in them generally, as useful to keep the best people on top and the peasants contented and unrebellious. You may have seen our mortuary chapel.... which gets used mostly for funerals. Because we are the secret elite who rule the world, we also offer.... which does not get much use for funerals, but is quite popular for weddings. We've now added a third house of worship: The Temple of Mustapha Ibrahim: The portal here is the entrance. The holy of holies here is a niche in the wall.

Sorting out the Teleport Mess (help solicited)
Heraclea replied to Shenanigunner's topic in General Discussion
I am fairly confident that the AH day job badges can still be earned, but they no longer grant charges of an AH transporter, which is no longer in the game. -

Flower Knight would also be good for Posi 2; she has no current connection to Faultline per se, but a good many Asian themed characters seem to have ties there (the Yins, Mirror Spirit), and thematically Vahzilok relate well to the sorts of things she seems to get involved in (Contaminated). I agree, more should be done with and for her, especially since it's possible for new characters who run a tutorial to skip Outbreak entirely.

This link has my current Inv/DM build -- I have always had Touch of Fear, had it before it did damage, had it for the debuff. Now that it's an AoE that does a little damage it's even better. Bear in mind that Inv/DM is not really a DPS build. It's about overcoming the slow self heal in Invuln with a much faster one in Dark Melee. Air Superiority was taken mostly as homage to Heraclea's Super Strength origin on old live. Feel free to do something else. It does add some useful control.

That turns one of my favorite AVs to fight (Battle Maiden) into a rather tedious chore. I'm used to that; what I find most annoying there is the massive toxic damage in the Rikti sewer. That, and the omnipresence of overused mobs like IDF, Praetorian robots, and Warworks. That stuff is like Synapse only more so.

It's a superhero construction set with an attached MMORPG style game.

I have kinetic melee on two characters: Ann Atomic, a kinetic/radiation scrapper on Torchbearer, and Witchfinder General, a bio/kinetic tanker on Excelsior. On the tanker I like the animations fine; he's supposed to be casting spells, but the sounds are rather incongruous. On the scrapper, I built her to represent a speedster concept, and that's a bit less successful; the revving noises work just fine, but the animations are slow and there isn't quite enough AoE in the set IMO. Works best on AVs and other hard targets than it does on regular spawns.

Nice. I made a chess set for the Crowned Heads base, with mostly Tech pieces for White and Arcane for Black.... You do get to face a classic opponent.......

I almost always end up taking taunt on a brute. It isn't a priority, like it would be on a tanker. It waits for the late levels where you'd really rather have more slots than another power anyways, but at least Taunt doesn't need slots to be useful.

I am generally not all that fond of Apex especially (Tin Mage can be kind of fun) but if I am bringing a tanker to Apex that almost has to be a radiation armor tanker.
